  • Patent number: 4344200
Abstract: A brake system for an aircraft passenger loading bridge monitors the operation of a drive system which raises and lowers the bridge. In the event of a malfunction of the drive system, the brake system interrupts power to the drive system and actuates a brake to prevent further operation of the drive system.

  • Patent number: 4336003
Abstract: A control for a variable displacement pressure compensated pump in which pressurized control fluid regulates the setting of a sequence valve to set the maximum output pressure of the pump and also set the displacement of the pump. The sequence valve is a two-stage device which utilizes a sequence poppet stage and cone stage. When working fluid pressure exceeds the setting of the sequence valve, the cone stage spills to reduce the displacement of the pump. If the pressure is not reduced fast enough the sequence poppet spills to more rapidly reduce the displacement of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4319376
Abstract: A passenger loading bridge includes a ground level rotunda, a tunnel support vertically pivoted thereto, an elevated tunnel horizontally pivoted to the support, a drive assembly horizontally pivoted to the tunnel outer end and rigidly mounting a detachable aircraft engaging cab. Stairs are located in the tunnel support. The drive assembly swings and elevates the tunnel, while a parallelogram linkage assures that the cab is level at all elevations. The cab is offset 45.degree. to the tunnel axis and has extension and rotation capabilities. The tunnel features a load bearing floor support and walls and a roof of curtain wall construction.

  • Patent number: 4310125
Abstract: A hammer adapted to be pivotally mounted between a pair of rotors in a hammer mill has a pair of sidewalls each of which is adjacent a rotor. Each sidewall has a recess which collects small pieces of scrap which get trapped between the sidewall and the adjacent rotor. A portion of the recess extends beyond the outer periphery of the adjacent rotor so that scrap collected in the recess can be ejected therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4296707
Abstract: A railroad car hand brake signal device alerts a train crew when a rail car hand brake is set and air is supplied to the brake pipe during operation of the train. If a rail car hand brake remains applied when air is supplied to the train's brake pipe, a whistle is sounded to enable the crew to identify the car having a set hand brake and a leakage path is provided to cause the air pressure in the brake pipe to fall to alert the train crew in the locomotive that a hand brake is set.

  • Patent number: 4289452
Abstract: A pressure compensated pump has a pressure compensator valve connected to a stroking piston. When the discharge pressure exceeds a set maximum the compensator valve connects pressure fluid to the stroking piston to reduce the displacement of the pump. The flow of pressure fluid to the stroking piston is accompanied by a concurrent flow of fluid to case.

  • Patent number: 4244275
Abstract: A hydraulic system for raising and lowering a load by means of a fluid motor includes a counterbalance valve which controls the flow of fluid to and from the motor. The counterbalance valve has a pilot operated metering orifice which passes fluid from the motor when the load is lowered and a compensator valve which maintains a fixed pressure differential across the metering orifice. This results in a fixed flow of fluid through the metering orifice when the load is lowered.
