  • Patent number: 9468904
Abstract: A sorbent composition such as for the removal of a contaminant species from a fluid stream, a method for manufacturing a sorbent composition and a method for the treatment of a flue gas stream to remove heavy metals such as mercury (Hg) therefrom. The sorbent composition includes a porous carbonaceous sorbent such as powdered activated carbon (PAC) and a solid particulate additive that functions as a flow-aid to enhance the pneumatic conveyance properties of the sorbent composition. The solid particulate additive may be a flake-like material, for example a phyllosilicate mineral or graphite.

  • Patent number: 9376002
Abstract: A roof rack and soft top assembly for a vehicle having an exposed passenger compartment protected by a windshield and a roll cage. The assembly includes an outer frame mounted to the vehicle exterior to the roll cage and surrounding a rear passenger compartment, and a plurality of slide rails mounted to the top of the roll cage above a front passenger compartment. The assembly further includes a soft top suspended from the outer frame with fasteners and a header assembly attached to a forward portion of the soft top that slides along the slide rails to engage with the top edge of the windshield, thereby covering the front passenger compartment. When open air driving is desired, the soft top can be withdrawn or removed from the slide rails and the outer frame and stored in the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9365984
Abstract: An apparatus and method for using a single radial TWS product for a variety of applications is disclosed. Radial TWS products are used for intersections and the like. Often, different applications require radial TWS products of varying dimensions. The present invention includes a radial TWS product, having domes on its upper surface, which are ADAAG compliant. Markings are placed on the bottom surface, which indicate the appropriate places where the TWS product can be cut to achieve a variety of effective radii. These markings are positioned such that, after being cut, the resulting radial TWS product continues to meet the ADAAG required center-to-center spacing between domes of adjacent cut TWS products. In some embodiments, anchor members are used in conjunction with the TWS product to allow simple replacement.

  • Patent number: 9352270
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a process that allows dry sorbents to remove a target constituent, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), from a gas stream. A staged fluidized bed separator enables gas and sorbent to move in opposite directions. The sorbent is loaded with target constituent in the separator. It is then transferred to a regenerator where the target constituent is stripped. The temperature of the separator and regenerator are controlled. After it is removed from the regenerator, the sorbent is then transferred back to the separator.

  • Patent number: 9320692
Abstract: Compositions and methods for forming, in an aqueous environment, a nanoaggregate of calcium fluoride and amorphous calcium phosphate-containing compound, such as amorphous calcium phosphate fluoride or amorphous calcium carbonate phosphate fluoride are described. The nanoaggregate (or nanocomposite) can release calcium, phosphate, and fluoride, and ultimately convert to the tooth mineral, fluorapatite. One method for forming such a nanoaggregate involves applying a non-aqueous (e.g., varnish-based) composition (e.g., a suspension), containing solid particles of water soluble salts of calcium, phosphate, and fluoride, to the aqueous environment of the mouth. This results in rapid solubilization of the salts, precipitation of the nanoaggregate, and tooth remineralization. Tooth fluoridation and remineralization may also be carried out by applying to the tooth a non-aqueous carrier containing the nanoaggregate. Whitening agents can also be added to these compositions and methods.

  • Patent number: 9314767
Abstract: Sorbent compositions including sorbent particles of a small particle sized sorbent with increased pneumatic conveyance properties. The sorbent compositions have relatively small median particle size and have a controlled particle size distribution (PSD). Specifically, the sorbent compositions include a relatively small percentage of very fine particles, such as a small percentage of particles having a particle size of not greater than about 5 ?m. The sorbent compositions are particularly useful for the treatment of a flue gas stream to remove mercury from the flue gas stream.

  • Patent number: 9308493
Abstract: A waste gas is contacted with a mercury removal agent to remove mercury and a flue gas conditioning agent to alter a resistivity and/or cohesivity of particulates. The flue gas conditioning agent can be substantially free of SO3 and/or comprise more than about 25 wt. % SO3, and/or the mercury removal agent can be substantially unaffected by the flue gas conditioning agent. An amount of mercury removed from the waste gas in the presence of the flue gas conditioning agent can be the same or more than that removed from the waste gas in the absence of the flue gas conditioning agent. An amount of the acid gas removed, by an acid gas removal agent, from the waste gas in the presence of the flue gas conditioning agent can be the same or more than that removed from the waste gas in the absence of the flue gas conditioning agent.

  • Patent number: 9283898
Abstract: A dash mount for securing a plurality of electronic devices to the front dash of a vehicle. The dash mount includes a base having a top surface with a top slot formed therein, as well as a rotatable mounting screw with a threaded portion extending upward, through the top slot, to project above the top surface. The dash mount also includes a support bracket having a first arm receivable within the top slot and a second arm with a device connector located at its distal end. The mounting screw extends through a straight aperture in the first arm to threadably engage with a first electronic device located on the top surface, to secure both the support bracket and the first device to the base, while the device connector on the second arm receives and supports a second electronic device in a location spaced from the first device.

  • Patent number: 9278314
Abstract: The objective of this invention is to develop a method to reclaim functional sites on a CO2 sorbent that have reacted with an acid gas (other than CO2) to form heat stable salts (HSS). HSS are a significant concern for dry sorbent based CO2 capture because over time the buildup of HSS will reduce the overall functionality of the CO2 sorbent. A chemical treatment can remove the non-CO2 acid gas and reclaim functional sites that can then be used for further CO2 adsorption.
