Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods to detect a fault in an electric power system. One embodiment may detect a single phase broken conductor in a multi-phase electric power system. An intelligent electronic device (IED) may receive a plurality of measurements over time of a current through an electrical conductor in the electric power system. Based on the measurements of the current, a fault detection subsystem may determine a zero-sequence current, a negative-sequence current, and a positive-sequence current. The fault detection subsystem may determine a ratio of the zero-sequence current, the negative-sequence current, and the positive-sequence current, and may monitor the ratio over time. The fault detection subsystem may identify the broken conductor condition based on the ratio and a fault detection region. A protective action subsystem may implement a protective action based on identification of the broken conductor condition.

Abstract: A system for monitoring arterial pressure of a patient determines a score that is predictive of responsiveness of the patient to a therapy. Sensed hemodynamic data representative of an arterial pressure waveform of the patient are received by a hemodynamic monitor. Magnitude data and trend data are derived from the hemodynamic data. The score that is predictive of the responsiveness of the patient to the therapy is determined based on the magnitude data and the trend data of the hemodynamic parameter. A representation of the score is output.

Abstract: A method is provided for testing for presence of a biological particulate containing an antigen, the method including collecting, in a tube of an apparatus, biological fluid that potentially contains the biological particulate. Using a plunger of the apparatus, the biological fluid is pushed through a filter that is configured to not allow passage of at least some of the biological particulate. Subsequently, while the filter is inside the tube, the presence of the biological particulate is tested for by ascertaining if any of the biological particulate was trapped by the filter. Ascertaining includes applying to the filter a releasing agent solution configured to release an antigen from the biological particulate into the releasing agent solution, and, thereafter, testing the releasing agent solution for the presence of the released antigen. Other embodiments are also described.
