Abstract: Machine learning systems that implement neural networks typically operate in an inference mode or a training mode. In the training mode, inference operations are performed to help guide the training process. Inference mode operation typically involves forward propagation and intensive access to certain sparse matrices, encoded as a set of vectors. Back propagation and intensive access to transposed versions of the same sparse matrices provide training refinements. Generating a transposed version of a sparse matrix can consume significant additional memory and computation resources. In one embodiment, two additional encoding vectors are generated, providing efficient operations on sparse matrices and also on transposed representations of the same sparse matrices. In a neural network the efficient operations can reduce the amount of memory needed for backpropagation and reduce power consumption.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for predicting a departure time of a user from a labeled place. In some embodiments, the location sharing system accesses historical location data of the user and extracts, for one or more labeled location of the user, an attendance record of the user at the labeled place. Then, when the location sharing system receives current location data of the user, and the system determines that the user is currently at the labeled place, the user predicts a departure time of the user from the labeled place based on the attendance record of the user at the labeled places. Some embodiments share the predicted departure time of the user with the user's friends via a map GUI.
Abstract: A computing device for predicting an expected loss for a set of claim transactions is provided. The computing device predicts, at a first machine learning model, a claim frequency of the set of claim transactions over a given time period and trained using historical frequency data and based on a segment type defining a type of claim, each type of segment having peril types. The computing device also predicts, at a second machine learning model, claim severity of the set of claim transactions during the given time period, the second machine learning model trained using historical severity data and based on the segment type and the corresponding peril types. The computing device then determines the expected loss for the set of claim transactions over the given time period by applying a product of prediction of the first machine learning model and the second machine learning model.

Abstract: A method and system for predicting regional gas consumption, and a device and a cloud platform. The future gas consumption of all gas users in an entire region is predicted according to a user-specified region and date; all networked gas users in the region are extracted during a prediction process by using spatial address matching technology; and then, by means of classifying the users and sampling the users in combination with statistics, representative sample users are extracted from all the users for respective prediction, thereby reducing the computation amount and computing resource consumption, which are required for model prediction. The method and system is mounted on a cloud platform, and the cloud platform receives, by means of Internet of Things technology, gas flow data that is uploaded by gas flow metering devices of all networked gas users, and also provides an interface for interacting with the users for the outside.
