  • Patent number: 8610884
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for optical visualization of graphene domains, and more particularly to a method for optical visualization of graphene domains, which can optically visualize the domains and domain boundaries of graphene by forming on a substrate a graphene layer to be measured, forming a liquid crystal layer on the formed graphene layer, and then measuring the optical properties of the formed nematic liquid crystal layer. The method for optical visualization of graphene domains according to the invention uses a liquid crystal-coating method, which is simpler and easier than a conventional method for observing graphene domains. Thus, the method of the invention is simple, time-saving and inexpensive and, at the same time, enables very-large-area graphene domains to be observed with a polarizing microscope or the like. Therefore, the inventive method will be very useful in the research of graphene's properties.

  • Patent number: 8604127
Abstract: The present invention relates to a conjugate of a protein or peptide with a polyethylene glycol derivative having catechol, wherein the protein or peptide is mono-PEGylated at the N-terminal with the polyethylene glycol derivative, and to a preparation method thereof. According to the invention, the catechol-PEG derivative can be site-specifically conjugated with the N-terminal amine group of a protein or peptide, so that a homogeneous polyethylene glycol-protein or -peptide conjugate can be obtained in high yield. Unlike a prior art conjugate, the conjugate obtained according to the invention allows the decrease in the activity of the protein to be minimized without chemically modifying the protein, and thus the conjugate has an excellent pharmacological effect. Also, because the conjugate is homogeneous, the process for preparing the conjugate can be simplified. Moreover, the conjugate has uniform biological efficacy in vivo and shows strong resistance to hydrolysis and thus a long in vivo duration time.

  • Patent number: 8598863
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and method for detecting the motion characteristics of particles in a flow channel. The apparatus includes first and second electrode groups, each having a pair of electrodes, which are arranged to be spaced apart from each other in a flow channel. The pair of electrodes function as both a drive electrode and a sensing electrode for directly applying voltage and measuring impedance between the electrodes. An operation control unit measures variation in electrical pulses generated in the first and second electrode groups, thus detecting motion characteristics of the particles. The present invention is advantageous in that it does not require complicated optical measuring instruments or analyzing instruments, and in that it can be used to easily detect the motion characteristics of particles in a flow channel merely by analyzing variation in electrical pulses without requiring preliminary information.

  • Patent number: 8599199
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a stereoscopic image generation method of background terrain scenes, a system using the same, and a recording medium for the same. The stereoscopic image generation method of background terrain scenes includes an initial mesh creation step of creating an initial mesh using terrain geometry based on image sequences, a geometry error correction step of generating a projection map, detecting error regions of the initial mesh using the generated projection map, generating a vector map of the detected error regions, and generating a corrected mesh, error of which is corrected, and a stereo conversion step of generating a stereoscopic image using the corrected mesh. Since the stereoscopic image is generated based on the mesh, the mesh fits the terrain shape even though the geometry is complex. Further, time coherence can be enforced, the mesh can be edited easily, and new elements can be unseamingly composed into the terrain.

  • Publication number: 20130304443
Abstract: Provided is a method for designing a current supply device for wirelessly supplying power to a vehicle having a current collection device. In the design method, the gap between the two adjacent magnetic poles of the current supply device is received as input and then the gap between the current supply device and the current collection device is determined based on the gap between the two magnetic poles. Next, the magnitude of the power to be supplied to the current supply device is determined based on the value required with respect to the magnitude of the magnetic field and the gap between the current supply device and the current collection device. According to the design method, current supply device can easily be designed since various functional requirements are decoupled from each other.
