The suturing nail is not deformed easily.

Abstract: A system and method for fabricating non-planar devices while managing short channel and heating effects are described. A semiconductor device fabrication process includes forming a non-planar device where the body of the device is insulated from the silicon substrate, but the source and drain regions are not insulated from the silicon substrate. The process builds a local silicon on insulator (SOI) while not insulating area around the source and drain regions from the silicon substrate. A trench is etched a length at least that of a channel length of the device while being bounded by a site for a source region and a site for a drain region. The trench is filled with relatively thick layers to form the local SOI. When nanowires of a gate are residing on top of the layer-filled trench, a second trench is etched into the top layer for depositing gate metal in the second trench.
Abstract: A tunneling field-effect transistor may be provided that includes: a substrate; a source which is formed on the substrate and into which p+ type impurity ion is injected; a drain which is formed on the substrate and into which n+ type impurity ion is injected; a plurality of vertically stacked nanowire channels which are formed on the substrate; a gate insulation layer which is formed on the plurality of nanowire channels; and a gate which is formed on the gate insulation layer. As a result, it is possible to generate a higher driving current without changing the length of the gate and the area of the channel (degree of integration).

Abstract: A texture compression method is described. The method comprises splitting an original texture having a plurality of pixels into original blocks of pixels. Then, for each of the original blocks of pixels, a partition is identified that has one or more disjoint subsets of pixels whose union is the original block of pixels. The original block of pixels is further subdivided into one or more subsets according to the identified partition. Finally, each subset is independently compressed to form a compressed texture block.

Abstract: A processor uses a token scheme to govern the maximum number of memory access requests each of a set of processor cores can have pending at a northbridge of the processor. To implement the scheme, the northbridge issues a minimum number of tokens to each of the processor cores and keeps a number of tokens in reserve. In response to determining that a given processor core is generating a high level of memory access activity the northbridge issues some of the reserve tokens to the processor core. The processor core returns the reserve tokens to the northbridge in response to determining that it is not likely to continue to generate the high number of memory access requests, so that the reserve tokens are available to issue to another processor core.
