  • Patent number: 9689746
Abstract: Provided is a measuring method capable of accurately measuring the surface temperature of a surface to be measured, uninfluenced by the emissivity distribution of the surface to be measured. A surface to be measured having an emissivity distribution, a radiometer that measures a radiance distribution of the surface to be measured, and an auxiliary heat source installed in a specular reflection position from the radiometer with respect to the surface to be measured are prepared, radiances of two places having different emissivities of the surface to be measured are measured at two different auxiliary-heat-source temperatures, a reflectance ratio of the two places having the different emissivities is calculated on the basis of two measured radiances of the two places having the different emissivities, and temperature of the surface to be measured is obtained using reflectance ratio and measured radiances of the two places having different emissivities.

  • Publication number: 20170177012
Abstract: A system and method is described to precisely control the pressure in a sample chamber over a wide range of pressures. The system comprises a sample chamber connected to additional chambers via on-off valves. The volumes of these chambers are accurately pre-measured. The valves can be electronically controlled by a controller, such as a computer with a processor. Computer control of these valves to vary the pressures in the chambers to achieve a precise target pressure in the sample chamber is performed in a sequence of steps where the pressure in each chamber is calculated after each step, thereby eliminating the requirement of measuring the actual pressure in the chambers.

  • Publication number: 20170178275
Abstract: Described is a method and system for using a solid state device (SSD) as an eviction pad for graphics processing units (GPUs). The method for eviction processing includes a processor that determines when a dedicated memory associated with a GPU and a host memory associated with the processor are congested. The processor sends a content transfer command to the SSD. The SSD initiates a content transfer directly with the dedicated memory associated with the GPU. The GPU transfers the contents directly to the SSD. The processor sends a content transfer command to the SSD when the evicted contents are needed by the GPU. The SSD then initiates and transfers the evicted contents back to the dedicated memory.
