Abstract: A light-tight cassette for holding and dispensing a roll of light-sensitive material and comprising an extrusion moulded shell or casing (11) and injection moulded end caps (12,13).Difficulties which may arise in fitting the end caps upon the ends of the shell are avoided by providing the inner face of the end caps with axially projecting corner tongues (26,27,28) shaped in a three-dimensional form having outwardly facing surfaces which are outwardly convexly curved both in radial planes passing through the axis of the hub portion (44) of the cap and in planes normal to said axis. These corner tongues fit inside corner regions of the shell and have a self-centering action when the caps and shell are pushed together in abaxial and/or relatively angularly skewed relationship.
Abstract: Apparatus for stacking sections of photographic films on top of each other in an elongated receptacle having a bottom panel and two side walls flanking an open top of the receptacle has two guide rails which are mounted on springs supported by the side walls and allowing each guide rail to pivot relative to the corresponding side wall. The guide rails have normally coplanar grooves for the marginal portions of a section which is supplied by a conveyor so that it overlies the open top of the receptacle. Two pivotable hold-down devices are mounted on the receptacle, and each hold-down device has a cushioned arm which is normally located at a level above the common plane of the two grooves.
Abstract: The bellows type folding camera includes two pairs of collapsable struts symmetrically hinged inside the bellows between the camera housing and the displaceable objective support; the upper and lower struts are interconnected by transverse straps and only one of the struts is operated by an actuation handle whereby the movement of this one strut is transmitted to the remaining struts by a coupler and crank linkage and by the transverse straps.

Abstract: Receptor material adapted for use in a combined dye transfer and silver complex diffusion transfer process, comprising in order:(i) a support,(ii) a first hydrophilic colloid layer containing a cationic compound capable of mordanting an acid dye, and(iii) a transparent second hydrophilic colloid layer containing development nuclei for catalyzing the reduction therein of silver complex salts to silver and at least one organic compound having an anionic group linked to a carbon atom. The use of the receptor material for the production of a black-and-white silver image in combination with one or more dye images results in silver images of increased density.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for producing a plurality of liquid threads and droplets in order to record information on a moving data carrier, whereby a film of liquid is produced on an inclined cascade outlet face, the film is broken up into liquid threads, the liquid threads are broken up into droplets which fall vertically downwards in free fall and the droplets which are unwanted for information are separated and fed to a collector.
Abstract: Direct positive silver halide emulsions are provided which contain fogged silver halide grains the said grains being heterodisperse and containing silver iodide in an amount of more than 10 mole % and at most 20 mole % relative to the total amount of silver halide. The emulsions have increased sensitivity and reduced gradation which is suitable for continuous tone reproduction.

Abstract: A dosimeter for use in mammographs wherein a plate-like body of electrically non-conductive hard foamed material generates charge carriers in response to exposure to radiation. The body is provided with electrodes which are connected with an energy source. The output signal of the dosimeter is used to regulate the amounts of radiation to which an object is exposed. The entire dosimeter can be installed between the source of radiation and X-ray film or another carrier of images of objects because the dosimeter does not cast a shadow on the film when the object is exposed to radiation.
Abstract: A mechanical film drive utilizes a rotatable drive shaft which abuts a flat surface of motion picture film to be driven. The film is pinched between the drive shaft and a rubber idler roller, and the drive shaft can be coupled to and uncoupled from a speed-regulated drive motor by means of an electrically-operable clutch. A flywheel is driven by the motor. Since the inertia of the flywheel is much greater than the inertia of the drive shaft, clutch operation has only a negligible effect on drive speed, enabling film movement to be accomplished with a high degree of accuracy.

Abstract: A photographic film unit for the production of colored transfer images contains an integral neutralization system consisting of an acid polymer layer and a retarding layer. The acid polymer layer consists of a copolymer of 5 to 50 % by weight of polymerized carboxyalkyl (meth)acrylate units together with other acid monomers and optionally nonacid monomers. A preferred carboxyalkyl (meth)acrylate is the dimeric acrylic acid. The acid polymer has high acid number and low glass transition temperature.

Abstract: Upon exposure initiation, a shutter opens abruptly, an exposure-light diaphragm begins to open progressively, and a control diaphragm, behind whose aperture the light sensor is located, also begins to open progressively. The signal from the light sensor is integrated, and when the requisite total-light amount is reached the shutter falls closed abruptly. Accordingly, the system decides, on its own, what the exposure duration and exposure-light aperture size upon exposure termination will be. The user, however, can modify this fully automatic selection in the sense of longer exposures and smaller aperture, or else shorter exposures and larger aperture, by varying the motion-retarding force supplied by an electromagnetic motion retarder, which controls the speed at which the exposure-light aperture opens up. Prior to exposure initiation, the control aperture is at a minimum, but non-zero size, permitting scene-light-sufficiency measurement.
Abstract: A slide member is slid by the user for adjusting the value of an exposure parameter, such as exposure-aperture size or exposure duration. The slide member has an inoperative setting and various operative settings, some of which are associated with different exposure-parameter values, others of which are additionally or alternatively associated with other functions and/or operating modes, the user necessarily often referring to the slide member because of its multi-purpose control actions. Electrical switch means are furthermore responsive to the setting of the slide member. A mechanical indicator mechanism of simple design, involving in the preferred embodiment a blocking blade coupled to the slide member and moving into and out of a little indicator window, quickly indicates to the user whether the slide member is in its inoperative setting or one of its various operative settings.

Abstract: Apparatus for separating successive sections of a running web wherein neighboring sections are connected to each other by weakened (e.g., perforated) web portions has a first and a second web driving unit. The second unit is located behind the first unit, as considered in the direction of transport of the web, and its speed is reduced below the speed of the first unit (and/or the speed of the first unit is increased above that of the second unit) when a weakened portion is located between the two units. This results in automatic separation of the preceding section because the tensional stress upon the weakened portion behind the preceding section suffices to destroy such weakened portion. The weakened portions are monitored by a detector which transmits short-lasting signals to change the speed of the first and/or second unit when a weakened portion advances beyond the second unit but is yet to reach the first unit. When a separating step is completed, the speed of the two units is again the same.

Abstract: Apparatus for removing backing strips and exposed films from drop-in cassettes wherein the window for the foremost unexposed film frame is located in front of an opening for observation of symbols on the backing strip has a pusher which is movable through the opening to expel the leader of the backing strip through the window and into the nip of two first advancing rollers which introduce the leader into a first channel for entry into a collecting receptacle. The leader of exposed film is stripped off the backing strip by a deflector and enters a second channel to advance into the nip of two second advancing rollers and to be transported to a splicing station for connection to the trailing end of the preceding film. The pusher can enter a circumferential groove of one first advancing roll and the other first advancing roll has a shallower groove for a finger which directs the leader of the backing strip into the first channel.
Abstract: A photographic camera has a housing the front wall of which is provided with a view finder having an inlet window and with a lens. A manually slidable first cover is movable to and from a position in which it covers the inlet window, and the second cover is movable to and from a new position in which it covers the lens. An arrangement is provided which links the covers for joint movement so that when the view finder cover moves to a position in which it uncovers the view finder the lens cover automatically also moves to a position to which it uncovers the lens, and vice versa.
