  • Patent number: 7225250
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed which predict whether a performance problem within a network is likely to be encountered during future operation. Furthermore, a preferred embodiment not only predicts the likelihood of a performance problem, but further determines the appropriate preventative measures to be taken in an attempt to prevent a predicted performance problem from occurring. In a preferred embodiment, a management system (MS) that oversees the operation of a network is implemented to predict likely performance problems within the network, and may determine appropriate preventative measures for preventing predicted performance problems within the network. Polling gateway(s) may be utilized to periodically poll the network resources in order to retrieve status information for such resources, including but not limited to status of disk(s), database(s), memory, CPU(s), and operating system(s) within the network.

  • Patent number: 7221723
Abstract: The present invention provides a multi-phase sampling system in which each sampler samples a transition and data of an incoming data signal. By enabling each sampler to sample a transition in addition to data of the incoming data signal, phase errors associated with each of the samplers can be determined. The phase error determinations provide valuable information that can be used 1) to correct the phase errors of the system sampling the incoming data signal, 2) to correct the phase errors of a multi-phase system that is transmitting the incoming data signal, and/or 3) to correct the phase errors of both a multi-phase system that is sampling an incoming data signal and of a multi-phase system that is transmitting the data signal.

  • Patent number: 7221785
Abstract: A method and system for estimating the background signal over an arbitrarily-sized region of a scanned image of a molecular array, including a background region surrounding the ROI corresponding to the feature. A bit mask is generated, based on a molecular-array, feature-based data set that includes pixel-based intensities and a list of features, including feature coordinates and feature ROI radii, to indicate those pixels in the scanned image of the molecular array corresponding to background, and those pixels in the scanned image of the molecular array corresponding to features and ROIs. An integrated intensity for a background region of arbitrary size and shape can be efficiently determined by selecting pixels within the background region that are indicated to be background pixels in the bit mask.
