  • Patent number: 5480361
Abstract: A space-saving compart change direction planetary gearing includes a reverse brake, a forward clutch and a planetary gear set. The brake includes a cylindrical portion integral with a pinion carrier of the planetary gear set. The clutch drum and planetary gear set including pinions carried by the pinion carrier are received in the cylindrical portion. In mounting the component parts within a casing, a brake piston is inserted into the casing. Then, an assembly of the clutch, planetary gear set including the pinion carrier integral with the cylindrical portion and an input shaft is inserted into the casing. Then, a brake frictional plate assembly is engaged between the cylindrical portion and a cylindrical inner wall of the casing.

  • Patent number: 5439419
Abstract: A pulley device includes a moveable conical pulley component which is moveable to a stationary conical pulley component by a servo motor. The servo motor includes a cylinder fixedly held with respect to a shaft portion of the stationary conical pulley component, and a piston fixed to the moveable conical pulley component and slidably engaging the cylinder. The servo motor also includes an auxiliary cylinder reduced in diameter than the cylinder and fixed with respect to the shaft portion, and an auxiliary piston fixed to the moveable conical pulley component. The auxiliary piston is received in the auxiliary cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4838215
Abstract: In order to minimize the supercharging effect from the cylinder to cylinder and to maximize the efficiency of the inertia supercharging effect over essentially the whole engine speed range, first and second elongate collectors which communicate with separate banks of cylinders are interconnected at essentially their mid points by a connection tube having a selected length and cross-sectional area. An engine speed responsive valve disposed in the tube or pipe selectively induces the situation wherein quasi separate induction systems are defined for each bank of cylinders or a single enlarged system is established.

  • Patent number: 4619480
Abstract: A forward sunroof panel is first tilted front down to its open position and then a rearward sunroof panel is lowered back down and slid along and under a roof panel to its open position in regular sequence by shifting only a single wire driven by a motor. When the two sunroof panels are required to be closed, the wire is shifted in the reverse direction to first slide out the rearward panel from under the roof panel, then to raise it and finally to tilt the forward panel to its closed position. The apparatus comprises, in particular, a forward panel tilting mechanism including a latch and a detent lever and a rearward panel sliding mechanism including a pair of link arms and a set of three telescope brackets.
