Abstract: A process for the manufacture of phthalic anhydride by oxidation in the gas phase of an o-xylol naphthalene mixture. By producing a solution of 1 to 80 parts by mass naphthalene in 99 to 20 parts by mass o-xylol at a temperature of 0.degree. to 80.degree. C., storing the solution at that temperature, heating the solution only shortly prior to the reaction to 110.degree. to 180.degree. C., atomizing the heated solution into a hot airflow, passing the heated solution over metal oxide catalysts in the gas phase and collecting phthalic anhydride product, a problem-free manufacture of phthalic anhydride is attained.

Abstract: A dental x-ray diagnostic installation for the production of panoramic exposures of slices of the skull of the patient particularly in the region of the jaw, characterized by an exposure unit with an x-ray unit pivotable around an axis and displaceable in a plane perpendicular to the axis, a film holder unit lying opposite and moveable relative to the x-ray unit, a head holder arranged between the two units, a control arrangement for controlling the pivoting and displacement movement of the exposure unit relative to the head holder and also controlling the movement of the film holder relative to the x-ray tube of the exposure means and an input arrangement for inputting information of the selected curvature of the slice being exposed. The improvements are that the input means is constructed so that the curvature of the slice to be exposed can be directly graphically inputted into the control arrangement such as by means of a monitor with a light pen or by means of a "computer graphic tablet".

Abstract: The component parts of a hearing aid are releasably inserted into the inside of mounts to be secured in the interior of the hearing aid housing. The mounts are provided at their inside with an elastic material that is preferably fashioned as a plurality of nubs and that exerts an elastic spring power onto the inserted component parts. The mounts can hold component parts of different sizes and are also sound-absorbing.
Abstract: An optical fiber having a multiple layer coating characterized by the inside layer being composed of a material that is stretched onto the bare fiber. Preferably, the inside layer is applied by extruding a stretch cone and stretching this onto the fiber. An intermediate layer can be applied onto the inside layer, either by a pressure molding system or by a stretched cone method, and an outside layer is applied by another extruder forming a stretched cone.

Abstract: Low-loss external wiring, for the switching-off relief of the semiconductor switching elements in a stage of a three-level inverter provides a switching-off relief capacitor which is connected to the stage output. Wiring capacitors are coupled to each of the upper and lower ends of the stage. The inverter also includes a diode network. Additional d-c consumers which are preferably either ohmic resistors or energy recovery devices take up energy which is interim-stored in the wiring capacitors.
Abstract: An arrangement for polarization control for an optical heterodyne or homodyne receiver wherein the state of polarization of the optical signal of the local oscillator of a heterodyne or homodyne receiver and the optical signal supplied to the receiver can be transformed so that both signals can be adjusted to the same identical state of polarization. A phase modulator PM1 and a following polarization converter PK1 are arranged onto an optical waveguide WL1 which receives at an input e.sub.1 an optical wave from a subscriber and another polarization converter PK2 and a following phase modulator PM2 are arranged onto another optical waveguide WL2 which has an input e.sub.2 for coupling in the local oscillator signal. The arrangement can be controlled such that the signals fed in have the same state of polarization at the output for superposition and IF generation.

Abstract: A reloadable ribbon cassette system for typewriters or office machines of similar construction employs a housing which receives an exchangeable supply spool for the ribbon and an exchangeable take-up spool core. To facilitate the reloading process, the take-up spool core is mounted in the housing on a bearing pin which extends upward from a contact surface. The take-up spool core has a bearing bore into which the bearing pin extends and a bearing surface which rests on the contact surface. The contact surface is disposed closely below a receiving bore in the take-up spool core which accommodates a fastening element attached to the end of the ribbon.

An exhaust manifold having a drive assembly connected thereto is provided. The drive assembly is surrounded by a noise-damping case which has at least one air inlet opening located in a lower front portion of the case in a direction of travel of the vehicle. The case also has at least one air outlet opening located in an upper back portion of the case in the direction of travel. The radiator and exhaust manifold located outside of the case.
Abstract: An antiremoval device for a locking mechanism for a steering column lock for motor vehicles is disclosed. A fastening member extending through releasably connected housing parts, which prevent tampering with the locking parts, engages additionally into a displaceable catch of the locking parts when the catch is in a locking position with the steering column to thereby prevent the fastening member from being moved to a position releasing the housing parts.
Abstract: To make more compact the structure of a sheet-fed rotary printing press and to simplify the installation of the individual printing units, there is provided a separate frame for each printing unit in which the plate cylinder and blanket cylinder are mounted together with the inking and wetting unit. The impression cylinder and the transfer drum are mounted as a transport unit in a fixed base frame. The frames of the printing unit are mounted on the base frame of the transport unit in the longitudinal direction of the press, so that it is possible to create an open space between any two printing units as required by the operator.
Abstract: The pulse voltage for the electrode (12) of a dust separator (10) is generated by a thyristor circuit (19) to be transferred to a dust separator through a transformer (16). It being possible that voltage arcings take place at the dust separator (10), there is the risk, in case of a blocked thyristor (20) that from the secondary of the transformer (16) a high voltage is produced at thyristor (20) to destroy the thyristor. To avoid such an occurrence, a detector (27) is provided which is only responsive to sudden voltage drops whereupon the thyristor (20) is enabled to become conductive so that the energy of the secondary circuit may be discharged to the storage capacitor (24) in the primary circuit.
Abstract: This invention relates to polyurethane(urea) compositions which contain foam and which are preferably cationically modified, contain non-abrasively bonded fillers and have a very high water absorbability (WAF).Production is effected by reacting isocyanate-terminated prepolymers with a quantity of water far exceeding the stoichiometric quantity in the presence of foams in particle or film form. The reaction mixture may also contain lignite powder and/or peat, other inorganic and organic fillers and/or biomasses (living cells, living bacteria, enzymes). The polyurethane(urea) compositions contain up to 95% by weight of foam particles and may contain further fillers (preferably lignite and/or peat). The compositions are swollen and have a high water content during production. Their water absorbability (WAF) when suspended in water is 33 to 97% by weight of water.
Abstract: A device for dispensing metered quantities of flowable multi-component masses includes a housing with separate chambers, each containing a flexible bag with one component of the multi-component mass. Material is pressed out of the bags by a liquid propellant supplied from a reservoir in the housing to the chambers by gear wheel pumps located in a conduit connecting the reservoir to the chambers. The pumps are connected to a common drive so that the mixture ratio of the components is exactly maintained for any desired amount to be dispensed.
