Abstract: A manner of facilitating document presentation that may be used to advantage, for example, by a presenter in a meeting room or auditorium setting. A document-presentation system includes a control server that receives a document-presentation indication, for example from a presenter device or another apparatus in a meeting room or associated with a meeting. The control server communicates with the presenter, or user, and determines the document or documents to be presented and a location from which they may be obtained. The control server then sends a presentation notice to a selected render server, which downloads and renders the document. The render server renders the document to a frame buffer in local memory, encodes the pixels read from the frame buffer, and streams the encoded pixels to an adapted display device in a selected location. The render server communicates with the user via the presenter device to start, control, and terminate the presentation.

  • Patent number: 9680599
Abstract: We disclose an optical transport system configured to transport the same data using two different channels of an optical transport link in a manner that enables an optical receiver to use direct detection of the optical power received through each of the two channels to measure the in-phase and quadrature components of the modulating electromagnetic field. In an example embodiment, an optical carrier of the modulated optical signal transported using the first of the two channels and an optical carrier of the modulated optical signal transported using the second of the two channels have a fixed relative phase offset of approximately 90 degrees. The resulting ability of the optical receiver to measure each of the in-phase and quadrature components of the modulating electromagnetic field advantageously enables the optical receiver to perform electronic signal equalization, including but not limited to electronic dispersion compensation.

  • Patent number: 9680965
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing a software upgrade for a first offline charging system (OFCS) having a plurality of virtual machines implementing charging functions for offline charging. For the upgrade, a controller identifies a subset of the virtual machines in the first OFCS to remove from service, transmits a request to a distributor to reduce the distribution of the accounting requests in proportion to the number of the virtual machines removed from service, and removes the subset of virtual machines from service in the first OFCS. The controller also constructs updated virtual machines having the software upgrade in a second OFCS to replace the virtual machines removed from the first OFCS, and transmits a request to the distributor to increase distribution of the accounting requests to the second OFCS in proportion to the number of the updated virtual machines constructed in the second OFCS.

  • Publication number: 20170163818
Abstract: A Charging Data Function (CDF) unit of an Offline Charging System (OFCS) receives Accounting Charging Request (ACR) messages from Charging Trigger Functions (CTFs). The CDF stores ACRs in designated buckets based on the source CTF and its determined status. If there is no change in the status of the source CTF, the CDF continues to store ACRs as they are received in the designated bucket. If the source CTF status has changed (i.e., a reboot or restart has occurred), the CDF allocates a new bucket for the given CTF and stores ACR messages indicating the new status in the new bucket. In addition, the receiving CDF stops storing ACR messages in the previous bucket and deprecates it as being obsolete. The CDF processes the obsolete bucket to generate incomplete Charging Data Records (CDRs) for any ACRs for which complete CDRs cannot be generated.

  • Patent number: 9667499
Abstract: A capability for sparsifying a representation of pairwise cost information is presented herein. The capability for sparsifying a representation of pairwise cost information may be used to sparsify a representation of pairwise cost information for a set of nodes. The sparsification of a representation of pairwise cost information for a set of nodes may provide thereby a sparsified representation of the pairwise cost information for the set of nodes. The sparsification of the representation of pairwise cost information for the set of nodes may be based on clustering of the nodes of the set of nodes into clusters. The sparsification of the representation of pairwise cost information for the set of nodes may be based on calculation of intra-cluster costs and inter-cluster costs, where the intra-cluster costs and inter-cluster costs are calculated based on the pairwise cost information of the representation of the pairwise cost information for the set of nodes.

  • Publication number: 20170149465
Abstract: In one embodiment, a clock generator generates a clock signal, and a clock channel generates a filtered clock signal from the clock signal. The clock channel comprises at least one filter that (i) attenuates noise in at least one Nyquist zone of the clock signal adjacent to the fundamental frequency and (ii) passes at least one harmonic frequency of the clock signal other than the fundamental frequency. A digital-to-analog converter (DAC) digitizes an analog input signal based on the filtered clock signal. Attenuating noise in the Nyquist zones reduces jitter of the filtered clock signal, and passing at least one harmonic frequency of the clock signal other than the fundamental frequency limits the degradation of the slew rate of the clock signal. As a result, the filtered clock signal increases the signal-to-noise ratio of the output of the DAC.

  • Patent number: 9647782
Abstract: We disclose an interface device configured to inter-convert CPRI data frames and Optical Transport Units (OTUs). The interface device acquires frame synchronization by temporarily storing data in a buffer bank such that translated sync characters are placed at respective predetermined locations within the buffer bank. Each translated sync character represents, in the corresponding OTU, a respective sync character of a CPRI hyperframe. The interface device is configured to distinguish translated sync characters from payload-data words of identical value based on predetermined alignment, in the buffer bank, of data temporarily stored therein for conversion into the CPRI data format. The interface device advantageously enables multiplexing of a plurality of CPRI links and aggregation and encapsulation of the multiplexed CPRI data into a stream of OTUs for transmission to the intended destination over an Optical Transport Network.

  • Patent number: 9641696
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that notify end users of mobile devices of charging rate adjustments within a mobile network. A rate notification system receives bandwidth usage data for the mobile network, and identifies a region within the mobile network having a bandwidth usage that exceeds a threshold. The bandwidth usage is processed per media type (i.e., voice calls, text messages, etc) based on the bandwidth usage data. The rate notification system then identifies a mobile device located within the region, and identifies one or more contacts of the end user of the mobile device. The rate notification system then identifies an adjusted charging rate per contact per media type for this end user, and provides the adjusted charging rates to the end user of the mobile device.
