  • Patent number: 9794804
Abstract: Exemplary apparatuses and methods are provided that address how to optimize automatic neighbor relations. Specifically, a base station receives measurements from a mobile terminal connected thereto. The base station determines neighbor relations from the received measurements that includes identifiers of other base stations in neighboring cells detected by the mobile terminal. The base station determines a number of communication links needed to exchange data with the other base stations. The base station prioritizes the neighbor relations from a lowest priority level to a highest priority level before a maximum number of communication links needed to exchange data is exceeded. The base station may delete neighbor relations with the lowest priority level from the base station's Neighbor Relation Table so that the base station can support new neighbor relations, more efficient hand-offs, and improve network performance.

  • Patent number: 9792419
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for implementing shared-license software management are provided. Shared-license software management may be performed by generating a request for a license for running a process of a shared-license software application. The request is communicated to a license server, and the process is made available for scheduling an operation when a grant for the requested license is received from the license server, wherein the grant comprises a license quantum, which is an amount of central processing unit time for which the license has been granted to the process.

  • Patent number: 9794825
Abstract: A metric of cell congestion is determined using an average physical resource block rate that is expected to be allocated for a very active user equipment bearer that is a persistent average rate. The average physical resource block rate is mapped to congestion levels and this information is exported to an application function or a radio access network function in order to mitigate congestion. An average bearer throughput for the user equipment can be calculated based on the average physical resource block rate.

  • Patent number: 9794798
Abstract: A leaky repeater access node (LRAN) includes a first directional antenna and a second directional antenna to transmit and receive signals in at least one first frequency band, and a third antenna to transmit and receive signals in a second frequency band. The LRAN also includes first analog components to split a first signal received by the first directional antenna into a first portion and a second portion. The first analog components amplify the first portion and provide the amplified first portion to the second directional antenna. The first analog components also convert the second portion to the second frequency band and provide the converted second portion to the third antenna.

  • Publication number: 20170295113
Abstract: The present disclosure generally discloses a longest queue identification mechanism. The longest queue identification mechanism, for a set of queues of a buffer, may be configured to identify the longest queue of the set of queues and determine a length of the longest queue of the set of queues. The longest queue identification mechanism may be configured to identify the longest queue of the set of queues using only two variables including a longest queue identifier (LQID) variable for the identity of the longest queue and a longest queue length (LQL) variable for the length of the longest queue. It is noted that the identity of the longest queue of the set of queues may be an estimate of the identity of the longest queue and, similarly, that the length of the longest queue of the set of queues may be an estimate of the length of the longest queue.

  • Patent number: 9787852
Abstract: Systems and methods that transport Charging Data Records (CDRs) using GTP? for offline charging. One embodiment comprises a Charging Data Function (CDF) that communicates with a Charging Gateway Function (CGF) of an offline charging system using GTP?. The CDF assembles a GTP? request for a transaction, assigns a sequence number for the transaction, and assigns a timestamp to the sequence number. The CDF inserts the sequence number in a GTP? header of the GTP? request, inserts the timestamp assigned to the sequence number in the GTP? header of the GTP? request, and sends the GTP? request to the CGF.

  • Publication number: 20170289218
Abstract: In one aspect, a network element for a wireless Content Delivery Network is provided. The network element receives requests from receiver devices for a video segment over the wireless CDN, and computes a number of descriptors (representing quality) of the requested video segment, where the number of descriptors is determined for each receiver device based on channel conditions between the network element and the receiver devices. The network element clusters a set of descriptors for each receiver device into a minimum number of Generalized Independent Sets (GISs) based on the computed number of descriptors and the channel conditions between the network element and the receiver devices, and generates a multicast codeword encoding the clustered descriptors for each receiver device using the minimum number of GISs. The network element transmits the multicast codeword to each of the receiver devices in response to the received requests.

  • Publication number: 20170289784
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for processing messages in an Offline Charging System (OFCS) of a communications services provider. A front-end distributor unit receives Diameter messages from a Charging Trigger Function (CTF) and distributes the Diameter messages to Charging Data Function (CDF) units of the OFCS. The distributor unit receives Diameter response messages from CDFs and calculates performance metrics based on the distributed messages and their responses. The distributor unit computes revised distribution weights used for distributing new Diameter messages for new Diameter sessions to the CDF units based on the measured metrics, thus adjusting the distribution pattern of the Diameter messages based on estimated workload conditions at the CDFs.

  • Publication number: 20170289349
Abstract: The supporting of the managed call recording is used for a call between a calling party and a called party, where a network node receives an invite message that initiates the call, and it is determined that either the calling party or the called party is a managed call recording (MCR) subscriber. A conference bridge is created for the calling party, the called party, and a session initiation protocol recording server (SRS), after the call has been answered by the called party. The network node transmits instructions to play MCR announcements using the conference bridge, prior to the call being connected between the calling party and the called party, where the call is recorded by the SRS.

  • Patent number: 9781453
Abstract: A method of converting legacy HFC CATV cable systems, which transmit data over the optical fiber portion of the system using the optical counterpart of analog RF waveforms, such as RF QAM waveforms transduced to corresponding optical QAM waveforms, to improved HFC CATV systems that transmit data over the optical fiber using optical fiber optimized protocols, such as Ethernet frames and other optical fiber optimized digital transport protocols. According to the method, most aspects of the legacy HFC CATV system may be retained, however at the CATV head end, the optical fiber transmitter system is replaced by an improved system that extracts the underlying symbols from legacy waveforms, packages these symbols into optical fiber optimized packets, and transmits downstream. The legacy optical fiber nodes are replaced with improved nodes capable of receiving the packets and remodulating the symbols into RF waveforms suitable for injection into the system's CATV cable.

  • Publication number: 20170280438
Abstract: The present disclosure generally discloses an autonomous wireless transmission mechanism. The autonomous wireless transmission mechanism may be configured to support autonomous transmissions by wireless end devices to wireless access nodes in a connectionless manner. In general, an autonomous wireless transmission by a wireless end device may include transmission of a preamble in a preamble transmission zone and autonomous transmission of a payload over one or more resource units of one or more payload transmission zones without requiring establishment of a connection between the wireless end device and the wireless access node. The autonomous wireless transmission mechanism, by obviating the need for a wireless end device to establish a connection with a wireless access node in order to transmit data to the wireless access node, also obviates a need for the wireless end device to operate in a scheduled transmission mode.

  • Publication number: 20170272195
Abstract: We disclose an optical add-drop multiplexer that can apply different routing operations to different subcarriers of a data frame. In an example embodiment, the digital signal processor (DSP) of the optical add-drop multiplexer carries out subcarrier-specific add, drop, and pass-through operations in the electrical frequency domain, which enables the DSP to only partially unwrap the pass-through subcarriers, thereby at least partially avoiding some of the more processing-power-hungry DSP operations and reducing the sub-wavelength routing latency accordingly. Also disclosed is an example data-frame structure that can be used to provide subcarrier-specific routing instructions to the optical add-drop multiplexer.
