  • Patent number: 8837429
Abstract: A method for handover of a mobile node (MN) in a communications network from a previous point of attachment (p-PoA) associated with a previous mobility access gateway (pMAG) to a new point of attachment (n-PoA) associated with a new mobility access gateway (nMAG), where the pMAG and nMAG are associated with a mobility anchor (LMA), comprises the nMAG receiving a handover indicator concerning the MN from the pMAG. After receiving the handover indicator at the nMAG, the nMAG establishes a transient binding with the LMA. Following establishment of the transient binding, the nMAG receives downloaded data for the MN from the LMA prior to establishment of a connection between the MN and the n-PoA. The method may be used with PMIP Mobile Internet Protocol (PMIP).

  • Patent number: 8837500
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for directing/redirecting service data flows to Packet Data Networks (PDN). A subscriber database (e.g., HSS) stores direction/redirection criteria along with mapping data that includes information for directing/redirecting service data flows to PDNs. An element of a network may then query the subscriber database to direct or redirect service data flows to PDNs. The subscriber database receives a query from a network element, and identifies the direction/redirection criteria and mapping data for the data service. The subscriber database then transmits the direction/redirection criteria and mapping data to the network element in response to the query to allow the network element to direct/redirect a service data flow to a PDN for the data service.

  • Patent number: 8837350
Abstract: A communication method is provided for use in a network in which users are allocated respective symbol positions within timeslots for communication to the respective users from a base station. A signal periodically transmitted from at least two antennas of the base station to a user terminal represents coded information. The signal is transmitted within each of a plurality of periodic timeslots. Within each timeslot, each antenna transmits the same coded information only during an assigned symbol position. The symbol positions assigned to the respective antennas are separated in time according to a specified sequential spacing of symbol positions within the timeslot.

  • Patent number: 8838971
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for managing one or more public keys used for verification of one or more messages transferred over a communication network associated with a public warning system. In one example, a method comprises the following steps. A computing device of a communication network obtains key material for at least one source of a message generated for a public warning system. The computing device also obtains an identity of the source. A public key is computed by the computing device from the key material and the identity of the source. The public key is thus useable by the computing device to verify a message received from the source that is digitally signed using a corresponding private key of the source. In one example, the computing device comprises user equipment.

  • Patent number: 8838771
Abstract: Providing fail_over call processing services by sniffing signaling traffic, without the overhead of configuring/provisioning terminals (phones), call servers etc. According to an aspect of the present invention, the integrated device operates as a backup call server when external call servers are unavailable. In one embodiment, the integrated device checks whether a first call server, to which a call setup request is destined to, is available, and forwards the request to another call server if the first call server is unavailable. According to another aspect, the integrated device detects the access information of each terminal registering with a call server, and uses the detected information to provide responses to call setup requests when the call servers are unavailable. As a result, the IP phones in a local network can continue initiating calls even when call servers located at remote sites, become unavailable.

  • Patent number: 8837287
Abstract: Various exemplary embodiments relate to a system and related method for transmission of content over a telecommunications network. The system may include a deep packet inspection (DPI) device configured to perform DPI to identify an application associated with the new flow, determine an amount of bandwidth required for the application, and determine a current amount of bandwidth used by the subscriber. The DPI device may then determine a total amount of bandwidth used by the subscriber. When the total amount of bandwidth exceeds an amount of bandwidth guaranteed to the subscriber, the DPI device may perform a traffic management action on packets belonging to the new flow, such that the total amount of bandwidth used by the subscriber does not exceed the amount of bandwidth guaranteed to the subscriber.

Abstract: Identifying malware on a user device allows corrective actions, such as removing the malware, to be taken. Malware can be detected using a hybrid approach that uses both network based devices and an agent running on the user device. The network based devices can detect network traffic associated with malware that is sent to or from the user device. A notification can be generated and sent to the user device, which uses information in the notification to identify possible malware on the user device.

  • Publication number: 20140254542
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for enhancing transmission of a downlink ACK/NACK signal in an LTE communication system. In order to attain the object of enhancing transmission of a downlink ACK/NACK signal, the invention proposes an enhanced design of the current PHICH and thus makes an enhanced PHICH (E-PHICH). The enhanced design is focused primarily upon the following aspects: the first aspect is to configure an E-PHICH in the legacy PDSCH and to transmit an ACK/NACK signal in the E-PHICH so that a UE demodulates the E-PHICH to obtain the ACK/NACK signal. The second aspect is to improve a PHICH-and-PUSCH association design by designing an implicit association between an E-PHICH index and a radio frequency resource occupied by a UL grant (in a legacy PDCCH or an E-PDCCH) and an explicit association between a PUSCH scheduled by a UL grant and an E-PDCCH respectively and to transmit an ACK/NACK signal in the E-PHICH so that a UE demodulates the E-PHICH to obtain the ACK/NACK signal.

  • Publication number: 20140254794
Abstract: A single instance of a session key generation protocol is executed in a manner that generates a plurality of security associations between user equipment and a first network element of a communication system. In one aspect, a first one of the security associations is utilized to secure data sent between the user equipment and the first network element in an ongoing communication. In conjunction with a handoff of the ongoing communication from the first network element to a second network element of the communication system, another one of the security associations is selected, and the other selected security association is utilized to secure data sent between the user equipment and the second network element in the ongoing communication. The security associations may comprise respective sets of session keys derived from a single pairwise master key.

Abstract: Method and system for notifying subscribers of calls missed by forwarded to number. The present invention relates to services provided by interne protocol multimedia subsystem and more specifically to a system and method of notifying a subscriber about the performance of selected forwarded number. When an call is forwarded to a forward to identity the application server increments a counter in case the call is not answered by the forward to identity. Once this counter reaches a certain threshold, the subscriber is sent a notification of the number of calls missed by selected forward to identity.
