Abstract: The present invention is directed to a drug delivery device for a human eye. The human eye has a sclera, an inferior oblique muscle, and a macula. The device of the present invention includes a pharmaceutically active agent, and a geometry that facilitates the implantation of the device on an outer surface of the sclera, beneath the inferior oblique muscle, and with the pharmaceutically active agent disposed above the macula. Methods of delivery a pharmaceutically active agent to the posterior segment of the human eye are also disclosed.
Abstract: Compounds with 5HT2 receptor agonist activity useful for treating glaucoma, including lowering intraocular pressure. Compositions and methods for their use are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing an intraocular lens that has been customized to provide optimum vision for an eye with prior corneal refractive surgery. Such a custom manufactured IOL will address not only optical correction requirements as currently met by spherical or toric-shaped IOLs, but will correct higher order optical aberrations using needed optimum customized shapes.
Abstract: A microsurgical system, and a method of mapping the surgical functions of the microsurgical system to a foot controller operatively coupled with the system, are disclosed. The microsurgical system includes a computer, a foot controller operatively coupled to the computer, and a touch screen display operatively coupled to the computer. The foot controller has a plurality of switches. Each of the switches is for controlling a surgical function of the microsurgical system and for actuation by a user's foot. The touch screen display has the ability to display a graphic representation of the foot controller including the plurality of switches, and to display a list of surgical functions so that the list is associated with the graphical representation of one of the plurality of switches. By touching one of the surgical functions in the list, a user can exchange the surgical functions associated with any two of the plurality of switches on the foot controller.

Abstract: Disclosed are soft, high refractive index, acrylic materials having an elongation of at least 150%. These materials, especially useful as intraocular lens materials, contain an aryl acrylic hydrophobic monomer as the single principal device-forming monomer. In addition to their use as intraocular lens materials, the present materials are also suitable for use in other ophthalmic or otorhinolaryngological devices, such as contact lenses, keratoprostheses, corneal inlays or rings; otological ventilation tubes and nasal implants.
Abstract: A surgical handpiece having at least two lumens or tubes mounted to a body. At least one tube is used for aspiration and at least one other tube is used to inject heated surgical fluid for liquefying a cataractous lens. A portion of the second tube is enlarged to form a pumping chamber. The pumping chamber works by boiling a small volume of the surgical fluid. As the fluid boils, it expands rapidly, thereby propelling the liquid downstream of the pumping chamber out of the second tube. The pumping chamber may use a pair of electrodes.
Abstract: A surgical system console having an electronic identification system, such as a bar code scanner, magnetic reader or other sensing device (e.g., optical, magnetic or other system) system that works in conjunction with a unique identifier on the surgical pak so as to identify the contents of the pak to the surgical console control (e.g., CPU). That information can be used for a variety of further activities, such as inventory management, product usage, traceability, patient billing, collection of statistical data, OR support, automatic setting of the surgical operating parameters by the surgical console, servicing and to print out the contents of the surgical pak on a list or any other recordable media (e.g., DVD, CD-ROM, floppy disk, hard drive, ZIP drive.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and compositions for the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension, comprising the administration of a prostaglandin FP receptor agonist and a prostaglandin synthesis inhibitor.
Abstract: A fiber optic circuit provides signal access and monitoring. A module housing the circuit and the module is mountable to a chassis. The module housing includes mounting flanges for mounting the module to the chassis; and a plurality of exposed adapters along at least one of the front and rear faces. Each of the plurality of adapters is connectable to a fiber optic connector external to the module. The plurality of adapters define first and second transmit signal ports and first and second receive signal ports. A transmit signal pathway is between the first and second transmit signal port. A receive signal pathway is between the first and second receive signal ports.
