  • Patent number: 5158004
Abstract: A brake power booster for automotive vehicles has a booster housing sealingly subdivided by one or more axially movable walls into one or more vacuum chambers and one or more working chambers, wherein a push rod is protected against dropping out of its assembled position, by integral retention features formed in a bowl-shaped insert member that receives the reaction plate. The insert member is received in a recess of the control valve housing and is held therein by a resetting spring which reacts against radially outwardly extending tabs on the insert member. Indentations, sheared-in depressions or radially inwardly extending tabs serve as alternate forms of the retention features.

  • Patent number: 5158159
Abstract: A spot-type disc brake in which a brake carrier elastically mounts a brake frame on a pair of guide rods so as to allow limited axial tilting. The brake carrier has a pair of axial arms receiving the brake pads therebetween and each attached to a radial member facing an inner connecting member connecting brake frame arms, and the guide rods extending axially therebetween. The brake frame arms straddle the carrier arms, and a spring element acts to press a contact area on one connecting portion of the carrier arms into engagement with central area on an outer connecting member fixed between the brake frame arms. A space between a pair of radially extending limbs of the brake carrier receives the actuating device mounted on another connecting member extending between the brake frame arms. Guide pins fixed to the brake carrier extend through oblong openings in the brake pads.

  • Patent number: 5154495
Abstract: A process is described for positioning the brake pedal during the automatic control mode in an automotive antilocking brake system, in which the pressure in the master cylinder is sensed at a point located where the master cylinder piston sweeps past so that either high or low pressure is sensed depending on the brake pedal position. The pressure sensing is used to generate an electrical signal which is processed in the system controller to it turn generate a control signal transmitted to a pump motor to cause delivery of a volume of fluid to the master cylinder so as to position the brake pedal in the desired position.

  • Patent number: 5152322
Abstract: A valve block assembly for an anti-lock assembly for anti-lock system for automotive vehicles. The assembly comprises a valve-receiving member (1) and a cover 92). The cover is made of plastics into which conducting paths are injection-molded. The conducting paths are part of a stamping (13). When the cover (2) is mounted on the valve-receiving member (1), all contacts are established between the pins (18) of the coils of the solenoid valves (19), on the one hand, and the erected ends (15) of the stamping (13), on the other hand. The instant invention accomplishes considerable simplification of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 5152587
Abstract: A brake system is provided which includes a restoring unit by which a restoring force can be applied to the pedal. Since the pedal, at the same time, actuates a control valve 9 determining the booster force, during a restoring operation, the booster force also is reduced. The wall 40 accepting the restoring forces advantageously can be located in the booster housing 5 between the master cylinder 1 and the booster wall 6. Since the wall 40 covers relatively small distances only relative to the booster wall 6, the overall length of the booster housing 5 is not significantly increased.

  • Patent number: 5141295
Abstract: In an anti-lock brake control system having a vacuum brake power booster and a tandem master cylinder, in which the brake pedal is controlled to be positioned forwardly of the initial return position during the anti-lock control mode. This is achieved by variation of the rate of delivery of an auxiliary pump as by switching the pump motor on and off by a switch actuated by the diaphragm of the power booster to provide a signal of the pedal position at the start of an anti-lock control phase. Various switching arrangements described include a Bowden-cable pulled by the diaphragm, a mechanical or an optical switch actuated by the rolling lip of the diaphragm, or an approach switch detecting the approach of the diaphragm and cam-assembly. The core (53) of the Bowden cable (54) is connected with the diaphragm plate (52) of the vacuum brake power booster. The core (53) moves the trigger cam (64).
