  • Patent number: 6365684
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel, optionally surfactant-free process for controlling particle number, particle size, and/or particle size distribution. The method of the invention also significantly improves monomer to polymer conversion rates, as well as, increases the level of polymer solids which can be emulsified/dispersed in water without polymer flocculation. Specifically, the improved process provides an aqueous dispersion of up to about 48% polymer solids in water in the absence of surfactant. The resulting fluoropolymers dispersions may be used in resin and coating applications.

  • Patent number: 6357219
Abstract: A turbine engine fuel delivery system (10) and method has, in addition to the conventional fuel bypass (20) for diverting fuel exiting a fuel control (17) away from the engine (49) and back to a fuel pump (15) to maintain a relatively constant pressure differential across the fuel control (17), a separate controllable flow fuel bypass (21) for selectively diverting fuel exiting the fuel control (17) away from the engine (49) and back to the fuel pump (15) to decrease the rate of fuel flow to the engine (49) and correct an overtemperature condition, and an arrangement for enabling the controllable fuel flow bypass (21) during engine (49) start-up and disabling the controllable fuel flow bypass (21) when the engine (49) reaches normal idle speed. Once an engine (49) start or light off is detected, the system (10) automatically prevents turbine outlet temperature exceedences by reducing metered fuel flow to the engine nozzle. The controllable fuel bypass (21) includes a solenoid operable valve (29).

  • Patent number: 6354408
Abstract: An adapter plate for a caliper disc brake assembly is attached to the inboard side of the axle flange of a vehicle axle housing. The adapter plate is generally C-shaped to allow mounting around the central region of the axle housing. The inboard positioning of the adapter plate allows mounting of larger brake calipers within a confined space. The caliper is connected to the axle housing by the adapter plate for the purpose of positioning the caliper relative to the rotor and resisting the torque developed by the action of the brake pads on the rotor. In order to adjust the lateral position of the caliper, the adapter plate, in one embodiment, has a pilot surface which allows the axle flange to be recessed within the adapter plate. In another embodiment, a secondary adapter plate bridges over the opening in the adapter plate to allow mounting of the adapter assembly to the entire bolt circle of the axle flange.

  • Patent number: 6346296
Abstract: A method of producing a highly stable packaging substrate in which are provided a first precursor having a first backbone and a first ethynyl group, and a second precursor having a second backbone and a second ethynyl group. Furthermore provided is a crosslinker having a first and a second reactive group. The first precursor, the second precursor, the crosslinker, and a solvent are applied onto a surface to form an electrically insulating layer. The first ethynyl group is reacted with the first reactive group in a first carbon-carbon bond formation reaction and the second ethynyl group is reacted with the second reactive group in a second carbon-carbon bond formation reaction to crosslink the first backbone with the second backbone, thereby forming the packaging substrate. The solvent is removed in a further step.
