  • Patent number: 11670851
Abstract: Phased arrays to be used for Tx and Rx communications in different frequency bands are disclosed. The phased arrays presented herein are non-uniformly thinned half-duplex phased arrays with dual-band antenna elements. Such phased arrays are “half-duplex” in that they are configured for communication in one direction at a time, i.e., either for Tx or for Rx, while utilizing a common array. Such phased arrays are “with dual-band antenna elements” in that, in addition to using antenna elements configured for Tx or for Rx only, they implement some antenna elements that are configured for both Tx and Rx. Such phased arrays are “thinned” in that they are formed according to a method of optimizing array geometry known as “thinning.” Such phased arrays are thinned “non-uniformly” in that different antenna elements used for Tx may have different numbers of nearest and/or second-nearest neighbor antenna elements used for Rx, or vice versa.

  • Patent number: 11671008
Abstract: The Kappa converter circuit, as introduced herein, can be configured for step-down (buck), step-up (boost), or buck-boost operation. The Kappa converter circuit exhibits lower electromagnetic interference (EMI) relative to other buck, boost, or buck-boost topologies, such as without additional input or output filter circuits. The Kappa converter circuit can have high power handling capability and less DCR loss, for example due to a distribution of current signals through respective inductors. The Kappa converter circuit includes isolating inductors at its input and ground reference nodes to help reduce signal bounce or signal pulsations at supply and ground reference busses, thereby further reducing EMI noise due to switching in the circuit. When the Kappa converter is configured for step-up operation, the converter exhibits no right-half-plane (RHP) zero.

  • Patent number: 11664814
Abstract: Techniques for interpolating two voltages without loading them and without requiring significant power or additional area are described. The techniques include specific topologies for the buffering amplifiers that offer accuracy by cancelling systematic error sources without relying on high gain, thus simplifying the frequency compensation, and reducing power consumption. This can be achieved by biasing the amplifiers from the load current by an innovative feedback structure, which can remove the need for high impedance nodes inside the amplifiers.

  • Patent number: 11662389
Abstract: Sensors and methods for determining the state of charge of a battery are described. The state of charge is determined in some instances by applying a current perturbation having a frequency to the battery terminals, monitoring the response signal, and determining the phase of the response signal. The phase may be correlated to the state of charge of the battery, so that once the phase is determined, a determination of the state of charge of the battery may be made. In some situations, the state of charge may be used to determine the operating condition of a load connected to the battery. In some embodiments, the state of charge may be used to determine whether the battery is defective.

  • Patent number: 11663100
Abstract: A serial interface, such as a serial peripheral interface (SPI), with improved diagnostic coverage is disclosed. The serial interface includes a data verification module that selects an error detection value in response to a mode signal indicating if the transmitting device is in user mode or test mode. For example, the data verification module computes a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) value and selects either the computed CRC value or its inverse based on the mode. The receiving device can determine the mode of the transmitting device based on the error detection value used. The serial interface further includes a read detector for clearing the transmit data buffer after data is read out. The serial interface may further include a loopback circuit for verifying that the data output from an output pin matches the data from the transmit data buffer.

  • Patent number: 11658571
Abstract: Techniques are described that can solve the problem of being low power while running a device on battery and alternatively running on the output of a switching regulator. In a low power mode, a voltage regulator circuit can be powered down and a switch can connect an input voltage of the regulator, e.g., a battery, to the CPU. In addition, internal and/or external loads, such as voltage feedback resistors, can be disconnected in order to further reduce the power consumption. If the device is going into operation, the CPU can be disconnected from the input voltage of the regulator, e.g., the battery, and switched to the output of the regulator. This can ensure that the circuit consumes very little power consumption in standby mode.

  • Patent number: 11652491
Abstract: Mechanisms for reducing or eliminating a quantization error caused by a quantizer of a continuous-time (CT) residue generation system are disclosed. In particular, systems and methods described herein are based on using a dither generation and injection circuit that can perform a high-pass filtering of the additive dither signal (i.e., a high-pass shaped dither signal). Using high-pass shaped dither signals is expected to improve quantizer linearity without significantly reducing the available error correction range. The applied dither may be particularly effective at minimizing signal-dependent distortion in ADC output spectrum caused by the quantizer when the quantization error cancellation accuracy may be insufficient.
