Publication number: 20200249348Abstract: Time of Flight (ToF) depth image processing methods are disclosed for resolving corruption of ToF depth images. In ToF depth imaging, the light can travel paths of different lengths before returning to the pixel. Thus, the light hitting the pixel can have travelled different distances, and the distance obtained from an estimation procedure assuming a single distance may be spurious. Systems and methods are disclosed for including a time-of-flight imager and processor which resolves the multiple paths, and outputs the multiple depths at each pixel.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2019Publication date: August 6, 2020Applicant: Analog Devices, Inc.Inventor: Charles MATHY

Publication number: 20200247562Abstract: Aircraft sensors are described which record a condition of interest of the aircraft during flight without being powered. The sensor may include a sensing element comprising a nanostructure material which permanently changes state in connection with a permanent change in state of the aircraft, thus recording the condition of the aircraft. When the aircraft is on the ground, the recorded condition is read from the sensor using a wireless radio frequency (RF) reader, rather than communicating the recorded state during flight. In this manner, the sensor operates without interfering with the aircraft while in flight.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2019Publication date: August 6, 2020Applicant: Analog Devices, Inc.Inventor: Yosef Stein

Publication number: 20200249158Abstract: Device for improving an optical detecting smoke apparatus and implementing thereof. Apparatus and methods for detecting the presence of smoke in a small, long-lasting smoke detector are disclosed. Specifically, the present disclosure shows how to build one or more optimized blocking members in a smoke detector to augment signal to noise ratio. This is performed while keeping the reflections from the housing structure to a very low value while satisfying all the other peripheral needs of fast response to smoke and preventing ambient light. This allows very small measurements of light scattering of the smoke particles to be reliable in a device resistant to the negative effects of dust. In particular, geometrical optical elements, e.g., cap and optical defection elements, are disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2020Publication date: August 6, 2020Applicant: Analog Devices, Inc.Inventor: Shrenik Deliwala

Patent number: 10732265Abstract: An optical illuminator assembly such as an integrated module can provide an illumination source for use in applications such as optical detection. A peak output power of the module can be enhanced as compared to other approaches, such as by one or more of controlling parasitic effects along an electrical pathway used to drive an optical emitter circuit included as a portion of the module, or by providing thermal management including establishing thermal conduction pathways through opposite surfaces of an optical emitter circuit such as an integrated circuit die comprising a solid-state optical emitter. Patent number: 10734806Abstract: High voltage clamps with active activation and activation-release control are provided herein. In certain configurations, a clamp can have scalable operating clamping voltage level and can be used to protect the electrical circuit connected to a power supply of a semiconductor chip from damage from an overstress event, such as electrostatic discharge (ESD) events. The pins of the power supply are actively monitored to detect when an overstress event is present, and the clamp is turned-on in response to detecting the overstress event. A timer is used to shut down the clamp after a time delay from detecting the overstress event, thereby providing a false detection shutdown mechanism that prevents the protection clamp from getting falsely activated and remain in the on-state during normal circuit operation.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2016Date of Patent: August 4, 2020Assignee: Analog Devices, Inc.Inventors: James Zhao, Javier Alejandro Salcedo, Srivatsan Parthasarathy

Patent number: 10727853Abstract: A DAC has a plurality DAC cells, and timing mismatch among the DAC cells can introduce errors in an output of a DAC. An efficient technique can be implemented to extract the timing error of a DAC cell. The technique involves a mixer to mix the timing error to DC (DC stands for direct current, where signal frequency is zero) and a VCO ADC to observe the output of the DAC cell to measure and extract the timing error. A first measurement is made using a first quadrature phase signal and a second measurement is made using a second quadrature phase signal. A difference between the first measurement and the second measurement yields the timing error of the DAC cell. Advantageously, the mixer can be integrated within a voltage-to-current converter of the VCO ADC. The timing error can be corrected in the digital domain or analog domain.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2019Date of Patent: July 28, 2020Assignee: ANALOG DEVICES INTERNATIONAL UNLIMITED COMPANYInventors: Jialin Zhao, Matthew Louis Courcy, Wenhua W.
