Publication number: 20030120760Abstract: A method provides for merging lists of newly found and old network elements. The method comprises receiving the list of newly found elements and deriving a potential key value for a portion of the newly found elements from configuration data associated therewith and a key format. The method also updates one of the old elements with the configuration data of a newly found keyed element having the same key. The method compares attributes of newly found elements for components to attributes of old network elements for attribute matches and reports matches. The report lists matching old elements and newly found elements as unresolved if either one does not have a unique key.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2002Publication date: June 26, 2003Applicant: Concord Communications, Inc.Inventors: Vincent H. Patent number: 6584249Abstract: The present invention provides an optical dispersion compensator with relatively small size and low insertion loss comprising a Fabry-Perot etalon and a dual-fiber collimator having a dual-fiber pigtail and a GRIN lens. The dual-fiber pigtail has an input fiber and an output fiber. An optical signal is coupled into the input fiber and then collimated by the GRIN lens into a collimated incident beam that is incident on the Fabry-Perot etalon with an incident angle. The collimated incident beam is reflected back by the Fabry-Perot etalon into a collimated reflected beam that is collected by the GRIN lens and coupled into the output fiber. By adjusting the separation between the input fiber and the output fiber of the dual-fiber pigtail, the collimated incident beam will change its incident angle and reflected angle. By tuning this angle, the group delay pattern of the output optical signal through the output fiber will shift along with wavelength, therefore dispersion compensation can be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2001Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Assignee: OpLink Communications, Inc.Inventors: Shijie Gu, Zhanxiang Zhang, Yanfeng Yang

Patent number: 6584095Abstract: A system and method for supporting communications among multiple interconnected networks include assigning multiple dynamic telephony addresses to each wireless communication device that registers in more than one network. The networks assign the addresses independently of each other. When an incoming call is directed to a particular wireless device via a first network, if the wireless device is beyond the transmission range of the first network, a locate-wireless-communication-device message may be single-cast, multicast or broadcast to remote networks, with instructions to return dynamic telephony addresses assigned to the device. While the telephony addresses are different in each network, each wireless device is associated with a device identifier that is universally applied in the internetwork. Upon receiving a telephony address from a remote network, the address is stored in local memory at the first network, thereby allowing access for subsequent incoming calls.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1998Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Assignee: Siemens Information & Communication Networks, Inc.Inventors: Eli Jacobi, Markku Korpi, Peter Kozdon

Patent number: 6581827Abstract: In a relationship in which a universal prepaid telecommunication services card issuer is different than a telecommunication services provider, a method and system for implementing a universal prepaid telecommunication services card (prepaid card), which can be used as a prepaid card for a plurality of services providers providing one or more telecommunication services. The method comprises a card issuer providing a prepaid card having a identification number associated with the prepaid card. Upon receiving a prepaid card activation request from a card seller or distributor, the card issuer activates the prepaid card. After the card is activated, the card issuer can receive a request to use the card from a user. The card issuer then receives from the user the identification number associated with the prepaid card and validates the identification number. Upon validation of the identification number, the card issuer receives from the user a service request for a particular service provider.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2001Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Assignee: Qwest Communications International Inc.Inventor: Mark Welton

Patent number: 6584191Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for performing staffing-based percentage-allocation routing using real-time data. According to one aspect of the present invention, transaction allocation is determined using both scheduled and actual handling resources. Actual handling resources associated with each of several transaction processing systems, such as automatic call distributors (ACDs), are measured at times t and t+n. Scheduled handling resources associated with each of the transaction processing systems for times t and t+n are also identified. Then, estimated handling resources are calculated for each of the transaction processing systems for time t+n based upon the actual handling resources and the scheduled handling resources. Finally, based upon the estimated handling resources, transaction allocations for each of the transaction processing systems are determined. According to another aspect of the present invention, a virtual call center is provided.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1999Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Assignee: Aspect Communications CorporationInventors: Kevin McPartlan, Edward Komissarchik, Lauren O'Brien, Robert Hayes, Katherine McElroy, John Rafter, Gary Sorensen, David Glassman
