  • Patent number: 6330311
Abstract: The programmable device connects an initiating telecommunications device with a destination telecommunications device through one of a plurality of telecommunications carriers based upon information stored in a database in the programmable apparatus. The programmable apparatus includes input and output devices, a processor, a memory and various databases. The system accesses and obtains information from the database and establishes a telecommunications link between the initiating telecommunications device and the destination telecommunications devices via one of a preferred low cost call carrier or a least expensive low cost call carrier. The database includes access telephone numbers, clearance code data (i.e., PIN numbers), cost of call rate data for specific destinations, specific days of the week, date and time of day for a plurality of telecommunications carriers.

  • Patent number: 6330019
Abstract: The terminations of the optical fibers are placed on columns L1 in the sub-scanning direction of a recording medium and fixed in such a way that columns L1 are stacked in multiple stages in the main scanning direction of the recording medium. In this way, the terminations form a matrix made up of 8 columns L1 in the sub-scanning direction of the recording medium and 16 rows L2 in the main scanning direction of the recording medium that intersect columns L1. The terminations of a plurality of optical fibers which belong to same columns L1 are arrayed with pitch P. With respect to a perpendicular that passes through center C of the termination of one optical fiber, center C of the termination that belongs to another column L1 and same row L2 at the same time is uniformly shifted by an amount of shift S in the sub-scanning direction. Thus, the present recording apparatus achieves improvements in both the recording speed and resolution at the same time.

  • Patent number: 6329888
Abstract: A surface acoustic wave transducer is provided having three electrode fingers disposed as one reference segment (&lgr;) on a piezoelectric substrate, each segment including an electrode finger 1 having a width W1, an electrode finger 2 having a width W2 with a gap of g1, and an electrode 3 having a width 3 with a gap g2. The electrode fingers 1 and 3 are set in-phase, and the electrode finger 2 is set in an opposite phase for driving. Further, W1 is set equal to W3, and g1 is set equal to g2. Thus, it is possible to provide a SAW transducer that has improved a shape factor at a high-pass side near a pass band of a primary-third order longitudinally coupled double mode SAW filter.

  • Patent number: 6330323
Abstract: A system and method for Enhanced Overflow Call Processing redirects calls which cannot be completed to alternate terminations. An originating switch queries a network database for an alternate termination for the call each time the originating switch detects that the call cannot be completed to the current termination. The network database determines the alternate termination for each query using a hierarchical set of multi-branch overflow statements which are configured by the user. A set of overflow statements is selected by the network database based on the original termination of the call. The set of overflow statements is searched hierarchically until an active overflow statement is found. This overflow statement then controls all queries relating to that call. The reason the call was not completed is used to select either an alternate termination to which the call is to be routed or a particular treatment, such as a busy signal or network message, which is to be applied to the call.

  • Publication number: 20010048709
Abstract: The present invention provides for making code rate adjustments and modulation type adjustments in a pseudonoise (PN) encoded CDMA system. Coding rate adjustments may be made by changing the number of information bits per symbol, or Forward Error Code (FEC) coding rate. A forward error correction (FEC) block size is maintained at a constant amount. Therefore, as the number of information bits per symbol are increased, an integer multiple of bits per epoch is always maintained. The scheme permits for a greater flexibility and selection of effective data rates providing information bit rates ranging from, for example, approximately 50 kilobits per second to over 5 mega bits per second (Mbps) in one preferred embodiment.

  • Patent number: 6327270
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus, system, and method for converting point codes in a signal transfer point in a telecommunications signaling system. The STP converts point codes which designate the origination and destination signaling points for the message. The conversion is based on information defined by the messages, such as origination or destination information. The present invention creates a virtual signaling system which can be reconfigured at the STP by converting point codes, and thus, altering the identities of the signaling points. The present invention is also operable to convert circuit identification codes and transfer integrated services user part messages to a user part.

  • Patent number: 6327364
Abstract: A system and a method for managing incoming calls within a call queue include a network bandwidth monitor for monitoring network bandwidth availability on a call center and a queue call rate monitor for determining a total of all call charge rates associated with the calls. A queue manager determines the order of advancement of the calls within the queue. If the network bandwidth monitor determines that network bandwidth availability is below a predetermined threshold, high network bandwidth calls are preferentially advanced to free up additional network bandwidth. Calls with high charge rates are preferentially advanced if the total call charge rate in the queue exceeds a predetermined maximum threshold. If the maximum total call charge rate threshold is exceeded and the network bandwidth availability level is below the minimum threshold, a relative priority for maintaining network bandwidth availability and reducing total call charge rates will determine the order of call advancement.

  • Patent number: 6327632
Abstract: A pin control unit and a plurality of addressable storage locations are provided to an integrated circuit to control the input/output (I/O) pins of a functional block of the integrated circuit or the I/O pins of the integrated circuit. Multiple ones of the addressable storage locations are correspondingly coupled to I/O buffers associated with the I/O pins. The pin control unit selectively loads bit values into appropriate ones of the addressable storage locations. In response, the I/O buffers input bit values from and/or output bit values to the corresponding I/O pins. The pin control unit controls subsets of the I/O pins in a coordinated manner as I/O ports. The pin control unit also controls data movement between the addressable storage locations and various temporary storage elements of the functional block/integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 6327611
Abstract: An electronic document routing system in a computer network environment integrates into the existing framework of the Internet browser using a Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) type. An ordered list with optional rules is placed in a MIME attachment, describes the route, document movement, time allotments, and options for each recipient. An originator creates a document, an ordered list of recipients, and specifies tasks and time allotments for each recipient The originator sends the document to the first recipient; each recipient performs a required task. Upon completion or expiration of the allotted time, the message is routed to the next recipient and a status report containing the current version of the document is sent to the originator. When all recipients have completed their tasks or the route has completed, the final document is sent to the originator. Thus, the originator receives a final document and intermediate versions of the document.

  • Patent number: 6327246
Abstract: An ATM switch (10) has a plurality of link controllers (12) each having a FIFO (30) for each VC established, a FIFO (32) for each priority level, and a traffic shaping FIFO (34) for pointers to ABR cells. Cells are pushed into the VC FIFO (30) and a pointer to the VC FIFO (30) is pushed into an arbitration FIFO (32) for the priority level of the VC FIFO (30). Pointers to ABR cells with onward transmission times are pushed into the traffic shaping FIFO (34). The arbitration FIFOs (32) are examined according to a schedule and cells are popped from VC FIFOs (30) according to priority for exit from the controller (12). A leaky bucket processor (22) calculates an average output cell rate OCR and ABR cells are popped from VC FIFOs out of turn if the MCR for the ABR VC exceed the OCR.
