  • Patent number: 6313765
Abstract: A method for converting digital data which has been sampled at a first rate to a second rate. Audio data is stored on a compact disk at high frequency and it may be desirable to use this data on a codec which has a lower sampling rate. In the situation where the two sampling rates are not integer factors of one another a method has been developed to compare the ratios of the two sampling rates and using ratio to analyze each sample number of the bitword in the original data set to determine if sampling of that particular bitword is necessary.

  • Patent number: 6314103
Abstract: A system and method for allocating bandwidth in an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) system under-allocates bandwidth in virtual paths for virtual path groups between ATM devices. A bandwidth allocation platform manages the virtual paths in the ATM system to control allocation and to prevent congestion, while providing efficient utilization of the bandwidth within the ATM system. The bandwidth allocation system under-allocates virtual paths for virtual path groups that require additional bandwidth to make connections for calls. When a connection is selected on the under-allocated virtual path, the virtual path may use bandwidth from another virtual path in the virtual path group or from a virtual path in another virtual path group if needed. A communication device transports user communications and call signaling for a call. A signaling processor processes the call signaling to select a connection in one of the under-allocated virtual paths for the call over the virtual path group.

  • Patent number: 6313768
Abstract: A system and method for decoding telecommunication tracer information originating from any telecommunication network element and utilizing any commercial or proprietary telecommunication protocol. The system includes a storage repository for storing trace data that includes a plurality of individual events provided by a telecommunications network element that utilizes one or more telecommunications protocol. An encoder creates and stores a plurality of executable programs used to decode the trace data. A decoder engine receives trace data from the storage repository, determines the telecommunication protocol or protocols associated with the trace data, and invokes one or more executable programs stored in the catalog encoder subsystem to decode the trace data. • Patent number: 6313777
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses an apparatus for generating a shaped waveform derived from a binary input signal. The apparatus receives a binary input signal and a sample clock signal. The sample clock signal changes the state of an up/down counter. The binary input signal controls the counting direction of the counter. The counter addresses a lookup table containing stored values. Also disclosed is the apparatus in which the lookup table output is converted to an analog signal by a digital-to-analog converter. The lookup table can be programmed such that the circuit output is equivalent to a filtered version of the binary input signal. The apparatus may optionally be enabled or disabled, such that the apparatus output assumes a predetermined state when disabled.

  • Patent number: 6314181
Abstract: Subscriber loop systems often contain bridged taps which may interfere with the transmission of DSL signals. The bridged tap creates at least one local minimum at a notch frequency in the frequency response of the subscriber loop within the frequency range of the DSL signals. Effects of the bridged tap on a subscriber loop are reduced by terminating the bridged tap with a bridged tap canceller. The bridged tap canceller has at least one filter element for each local minimum created by the bridged tap. Each filter element provides substantially complete reflection of DSL signals at the corresponding notch frequency.

  • Patent number: 6313685
Abstract: An offset integrator and method are provided to induce integrator leakage while simultaneously latching and canceling its own offset. The method includes combining a first and second input signals with a part of the output signal of a different polarity to produce a charge signal. An accumulation of the charge signal on a plurality of storage components is used to reduce the offset component of the output signal and simultaneously inducing an integrator leak. A positive and negative components of the input signals are combined with a negative and positive offset components of the part of the output signal, respectively. The method liner includes modifying a positive and negative components of an in-phase and a quadrature signal. A reset signal may be provided to erase a plurality of memory locations. A gating scheme may be used to provide a predetermined signal to produce a two-phase, non-overlapping signal.

  • Patent number: 6314170
Abstract: A modem parameter required for a modem apparatus is stored in a memory for each telephone number of a communication destination in advance based on past communications. At a communication time, a receiver side is notified of an execution of the short protocol by a QTSD signal, and sequentially a QINFO signal that includes the modem parameter is transmitted. Since the modem parameter is received by the communication destination, the pre-protocols such as exchange of parameter, etc., are shortened so that communication time can be shortened. Moreover, since the transmission of modem parameter is repeated until it is confirmed that the communication destination receives the modem parameter, occurrence of communication errors can be avoided so that the shortened pre-protocols can be surely executed.

  • Publication number: 20010036200
Abstract: Multiple field units in a CDMA system are synchronized for communication with a base station using a shared forward and reverse link channel. Each field unit is assigned a time slot in a forward link channel to receive messages from the base station. Likewise, each field unit is assigned a time slot on a common reverse link channel for transmitting messages to the base station. Timing alignment among each of many field units and the base station is achieved by analyzing messages received at the base station in a corresponding time slot from each field unit. Thereafter, a message is transmitted in a corresponding time slot to a particular field unit from the base station for adjusting its timing so that future messages transmitted from the field unit are received in the appropriate time slot at the base station.

  • Patent number: 6311052
Abstract: A 2-way radio system for use by a driver of a vehicle such as a motorcycle, enables operation of the PTT (push-to-talk) switch to transmit voice communications, without requiring the driver to raise his/her hand to a PTT switch button on the 2-way radio and without requiring a cable connection. A self-contained separate PTT control unit (40) lies at the driver's finger for operation by the finger without taking the driver's hand off the steering bar (12). During operation, the unit transmits a short range radio signal (70) to a PTT receiver (90) on the 2-way radio to switch the radio to the transmit mode. The PTT control unit can be mounted on the driver's finger or on the steering bar.

  • Patent number: 6310859
Abstract: Control of a packet communications network in a fixed network used by a mobile communications network is performed. (1) A communication hold mode is set for a user when the traffic volume of the user's transmission or reception of a packet per fixed time period is less than a predetermined value. The communication hold mode is defined as “although the network resources are released once, a mobile station and a gateway center at an interface with an external network behave to the user side and the external side as though the communication hold mode were maintained”. (2) When the user in the communication hold mode restarts the transmission of a packet, the mobile station automatically carries out a recall processing without the intervention of the user, and re-establishes the communication up to the gateway carrier.

  • Patent number: 6311063
Abstract: A method of and system for emulation of multiple subscriber profiles on a single telephone in a telecommunications network. An identified group contains more than one subscriber profile. The system is activated when a user selects a subscriber profile to be associated with the telephone being used. In response to the selection, the system determines whether the selected subscriber profile is within the group. If it is, the system associates the selected subscriber profile from the group with the telephone, such that the telephone emulates the selected subscriber profile. If the selected subscriber profile is not within the group, the subscriber profile associated with the telephone is unchanged.
