Abstract: A method for controlling an electric machine in a powertrain system in which a driven load is connected to a rotor of the electric machine includes measuring phase currents at a starting point of a sample period using current sensors connected to phase windings of the electric machine. The individual phase currents also are determined at a midpoint of the previous sample period. An angular position of the rotor is determined at the starting point and previous midpoint before calculating synchronous reference frame currents of the electric machine at the starting and previous midpoint using the phase currents and angular position. The method includes calculating average synchronous reference frame currents over the sample period and regulating operation of the electric machine using the average. An electrical system includes the electric machine, a power inverter module, and a controller that executes the method.

Abstract: A system has a virtual-world (VW) controller and a physical-world (PW) controller. The pairing of a PW element with a VW element establishes them as corresponding physical and virtual twins. The VW controller and/or the PW controller receives measurements from one or more sensors characterizing aspects of the physical world, the VW controller generates the virtual twin, and the VW controller and/or the PW controller generates commands for one or more actuators affecting aspects of the physical world. To coordinate the corresponding virtual and physical twins, (i) the VW controller controls the virtual twin based on the physical twin or (ii) the PW controller controls the physical twin based on the virtual twin. Depending on the operating mode, one of the VW and PW controllers is a master controller, and the other is a slave controller, where the virtual and physical twins are both controlled based on one of VW or PW forces.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology generally relate to encoding techniques. More specifically, some embodiments relate to encoding techniques for screen data. Intra block copy (IntraBC) using motion compensation within a frame (not between frames) is very useful for encoding data captured from screen. Unfortunately, this tool is not included in most of video coding standards, including the base version of HEVC (i.e., H.265). Various embodiments of the present technology utilize encoding techniques to simulate IntraBC with compliant syntax. For example, embodiments divide a high-resolution frame into smaller areas and then encode these areas independently as if these smaller areas were independent frames.

Abstract: Service level objectives (SLOs) defined for a storage system are associated with VMs running on hosts. For an I/O operation for a virtual machine (VM) running on a host system, storage processing is performed on the I/O operation in accordance with the SLO defined for the VM. The same storage system-defined SLOs may be applied to VMs running on multiple host systems. SLOs may be maintained by the storage array and shared with one or more host systems in I/O communication with the storage system. SLOs may be defined using a user interface of a storage system, host system, virtualizer control station or other component of a storage network, and communicated to the storage system, which may maintain the SLOs, and may disseminate them to one or more hosts. The SLOs then may be associated with VMs running on the hosts and tagged to I/O communications corresponding to the VMs.
