Abstract: Controllers and control methods for a power system are disclosed. The controllers can be configured to perform operations for correcting a state of a first node of the power system. The operations can include obtaining rules for correcting the state of the first node, each rule specifying a corrective action for the first node. The operations can further include obtaining instructions for the first node, the instructions at least partially specifying a configuration of the first node. The operations can further include generating a forecast for the state of the first node based on the instructions and monitoring the state of the first node. Based on the forecast state and the monitored state of the first node, the controller can select one of the rules and apply the corrective action specified by the selected rule to correct the state of the first node.

Abstract: In one aspect, an oxygenated hierarchically porous carbon (an “O-HPC”) is provided, the O-HPC comprising: a hierarchically porous carbon (an “UPC”), the HPC comprising a surface, the surface comprising: (A) first order pores having an average diameter of between about 1 ?m and about 10 ?m; and (B) walls separating the first order pores, the walls comprising: (1) second order pores having a peak diameter between about 7 nm and about 130 nm; and (2) third order pores having an average diameter of less than about 4 nm, wherein at least a portion of the HPC surface has been subjected to O2 plasma to oxygenate and induce a negative charge to the surface. In one aspect, the O-HPC further comprises metal nanoparticles dispersed within the first, second, and third order pores. Methods for making and using the metal nanoparticle-impregnated O-HPCs are also provided.

The AC power-switching device includes first and second current input/output (I/O) nodes, a current-limiting resistor, and a bypass switch connected between the first and second current I/O nodes. The bypass switch includes a first light-emitting-diode-input normally closed solid-state relay. Further, the AC power-switching device includes a rectifier, a voltage regulator, and a controller. The controller includes a programmable controller chip and is configured to detect a voltage level at the output of the rectifier, activate the bypass switch in response to the voltage level exceeding a first voltage level threshold, set a first lockout timer in response to activating the bypass switch, and deactivate the bypass switch in response to the voltage level dropping below a second voltage level threshold.

Abstract: A portable air filtration system for efficiently installing an air filtration system to a barrier which may be easily removed or replaced. The portable air filtration system generally includes a filtration unit which is adapted to be secured to a barrier over an opening in the barrier. The filtration unit includes a first connector which may include a fastener or a magnetic element. A second connector is provided to secure the filtration unit to the barrier, with the second connector including a fastener or a magnetic element on its first side to engage with the first connector and an adhesive on its second side to engage with the barrier. The filtration unit may also include a removable one-way valve such as a flap and an optional secondary filter.

Abstract: A flexible, collapsible vehicle door is provided that can be easily installed and uninstalled on a vehicle, without modification to the vehicle. The uninstalled door can be rolled up into a compact configuration allowing for storage. The collapsible door includes latches which secure the door to the top and bottom of the door frame. Straps on top and bottom of the door further hold the frame in place. The flexible door material rolls down from the top of the frame when needed for use. The door further attaches to the frame by way of two steel posts that fit the inside hinge openings on the stock vehicle body. A latch portion of the collapsible door may be used to secure the collapsible door in the closed position.

Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for detecting obstacles in the vicinity of power cables. In an example method, a first end of a power cable may be detected to be connected to a vehicle. A first trajectory of the power cable may then be determined via a plurality of sensors at the vehicle. The first trajectory of the power cable may include a first location and a first orientation of the power cable. It may then be determined, via the plurality of sensors at the vehicle, whether an obstacle is within a predetermined distance of the first trajectory of the power cable. Responsive to the determination that the obstacle is within the predetermined distance of the first trajectory of the power cable, a notification associated with the obstacle may be provided, and a power supply to the power cable may be turned off.

The multiple communications links may include a high latency/high bandwidth link using a fiber-optic cable configured to carry large volumes of data but having a high latency. The communications links may also include a low latency/low bandwidth link implemented using skywave propagation of radio waves and configured to carry smaller volumes of data with a lower latency across a substantial portion of the earth's surface. The two communications links may be used together to coordinate various activities such as the buying and selling of financial instruments.

Abstract: Systems and methods for supplying primary fuel and secondary fuel to an internal combustion engine may include supplying a first amount of the primary fuel and a second amount of the secondary fuel to the internal combustion engine. The system may include a first manifold to provide primary fuel to the internal combustion engine, and a primary valve associated with the first manifold to provide fluid flow between a primary fuel source and the internal combustion engine. A second manifold may provide secondary fuel to the internal combustion engine, and a fuel pump and/or a secondary valve may provide fluid flow between a secondary fuel source and the internal combustion engine. A controller may determine a total power load, the first amount of primary fuel, and the second amount of secondary fuel to supply to the internal combustion engine to meet the total power load.

Abstract: A simulator apparatus for training medical professionals in the procedures of chest tube insertion and/or pericardiocentesis. The apparatus includes a first stand element and a second stand element that form a rib panel base with the two elements substantially at right angles to one another to create a 90-degree stand. A rib panel is removably joined to the two stand elements and includes curved slots representing the spaces between ribs. This allows for the insertion of chest tubes between the simulated rib spaces, using off-the-shelf supplies to create a subcutaneous and skin overlay. For training in pericardiocentesis, the rib panel can be placed on a standard dimension medical basin, which is filled with a training heart with a pericardial effusion created with off-the-shelf supplies. The basin is then filled with echogenic material (water, water and fiber supplement, or gelatin) that facilitates ultrasound.
