Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for performing metadata-driven data collection are disclosed. In some examples, a method includes receiving a request for system status data for components of a distributed computing system while the distributed computing system is in operation. The request includes metadata specifying a data collection sequence for collecting component-level system status data. The components include compute components, network components, and storage components. The method includes obtaining, using the metadata, the component-level system status data by querying protocol-based data collectors in an order, one after the other, as specified by the data collection sequence specified by the metadata. The method includes assembling the component-level system status data into assembled status data and storing the assembled status data in memory and/or a repository.

Abstract: Compressing a frame of video includes receiving a frame of a video, identifying a three dimensional (3D) object in the frame, matching the 3D object to a stored 3D object, compressing the frame of the video using a color prediction scheme based on the 3D object and the stored 3D object, and storing the compressed frame with metadata, the metadata identifying the 3D object, indicating a position of the 3D object in the frame of the video and indicating an orientation of the 3D object in the frame of the video.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided to facilitate the minimally invasive removal of tissue and to facilitate the direct approach to anesthetizing a body wall of a patient. A pull-type cutting device also is disclosed to introduce an opening into the body wall to provide access for intra-chest surgical interventions, for example a minimally invasive biopsy technique as also described for excising target tissue from within a patient, including a nodule from within the patient's lung.

Abstract: A safety razor removes hair from skin using the cutting blade comprising a sharp edge along an elongated side of a planar surface. An outer comb has a row of outer teeth running along the planar surface on an outside of the cutting blade, each outer tooth is substantially perpendicular to the sharp edge and spaced with a gap between the row of the outer teeth and the planar surface of the cutting blade. Ends of the row of outer teeth comprise outer teeth tips. An inner guard runs along the planar surface on an inside of the cutting blade. The sharp edge of cutting blade is recessed up to a skin surface contour, the skin surface contour defined by the outer teeth tips and an edge of the inner guard. The sharp edge of cutting blade longitudinally bends to cause further recess relative to the skin surface contour.
Abstract: A wearable for providing light therapy to a wearer includes at least one fabric panel having an inner surface that when the wearable is worn is configured to face a wearer's skin and an outer surface opposite the inner surface and at least one side-emitting optical fiber affixed to at least one of the inner surface and the outer surface. The side-emitting optical fiber is optically connectable with an optical fiber light source and configured to project light having a therapeutic wavelength toward a wearer of the wearable. With the fabric panel laid flat, the side-emitting optical fiber includes at least one looped section that bends around more than 180 degrees.

Abstract: A system includes a panel extending in a plane, an actuator attached to a surface of the panel, and an electronic control module to activate the actuator to cause vibration of the panel. The actuator includes: a plate to create a force to cause vibration of the panel to generate sound waves, having a width, WT, at a first edge; a stub extending from the first edge of the plate, having a width at a region of connection to the plate that is less than WT, the stub being attached to the surface of the panel to transfer the force received from the plate to the panel and cause the panel to vibrate; and a damper supported by a surface of the plate facing the panel coupling the plate to the panel, the damper having a having a width greater than WS.

Abstract: A method for improving the effective signal-to-noise ratio (“SNR”) of an analog to digital converter (“ADC”) for active loudspeakers uses the two available channels of a stereo ADC to separately process the low- and high-frequency components of an audio signal. Because the power spectral density of music approximates a pink noise spectrum, the high-frequency component of the signal has peak levels low enough to avoid exceeding the maximum ADC input level. The audio signal is analog high-pass filtered and the resulting high-frequency signal component is sent directly to a first ADC channel without attenuation. The remaining low-frequency component is attenuated and sent to a second ADC channel. The digital signals are processed, converted back to analog, amplified, and reproduced by loudspeaker drivers. Noise and distortion at low frequencies is less audible than higher frequencies, so the improved SNR at higher frequencies yields a significant practical improvement in audio fidelity.
Abstract: The present invention provides 4-anilino-3-quinolinecarbonitriles compounds useful for treating a subject having an BcrAbl positive leukemia that is resistant to imatinib.
Abstract: Fences for use in table saws are disclosed. One embodiment may include an actuator, handle or lever to lock and unlock the fence from the table, where the actuator, handle or lever is positioned substantially above the tabletop and substantially within the perimeter of the table (including any rail associated with the table). Another embodiment may include an actuator, handle or lever to lock and unlock the fence from the table, where the actuator, handle or lever is positioned along a top surface of the fence and configured so that the fence unclamps from the saw when the actuator, handle or lever is pressed. The fence may be configured to include a material support shelf that is selectably extendable and retractable.

Abstract: Storing an entity as an object or a file in a hybrid storage system based on an accessing protocol is presented herein. In response to determining that a request to modify a data entity is based on an object storage protocol, and in response to determining that the data entity is a first object that is represented as a first file in a file storage device, the hybrid storage system creates the first object in an object storage device and deletes the first file. Further, in response to determining that the request is based on a file storage protocol, and that the data entity is a second file that is represented as a second object in the object storage device, the hybrid storage system creates the second file in the file storage device and deletes the second object.
Abstract: Disclosed is a composition that synergistically prevents proteolysis or modification of peptides in sampled biological fluids using sulfonyl fluoride family protease inhibitors at high concentrations combined with at least one additional protease inhibitor of a different type, preferably a broad spectrum protease inhibitor, and a chelator. A preferred embodiment uses AEBSF at 10 mM, Benzamidine at 20 mM and EDTA as the chelator. The disclosed composition may be combined with other protease inhibitors to further modulate its specificity, for instance to additionally target acidic proteases. Additional protease inhibitors, reducing agents, stabilizers and buffering agents may be combined with the disclosed compositions in devices for sampling or testing biological fluids for levels of peptides of interest, or methods therefore. The disclosed devices, compositions and methods are of particular use in sampling and testing for the level of natriuretic peptides.
