  • Patent number: 9762073
Abstract: A charging device for a battery pack has a housing defining a charging receptacle for accommodating the battery pack. Power electronics are arranged in the housing. A cooling air fan is provided in the housing which draws a suction air flow into the housing via a first air inlet opening and blows the suction air flow out of the housing, as a first cooling air flow via an air outlet opening. A battery air flow flows through the battery pack and enters as a first cooling air flow via the first air inlet opening. A further suction air flow is drawn into the housing from surroundings of the housing via a second air inlet opening formed in the housing. The further suction air flow is formed as a second cooling air flow separate from the battery air flow. The power electronics are situated in a flow path between the second air inlet opening and the cooling air fan. The second cooling air flow, after cooling the power electronics, is supplied to the cooling air fan.

  • Patent number: 9742315
Abstract: A handheld work apparatus having an electric motor and a drive circuit for the electric motor. The rotation movement of the motor is converted into an oscillating movement of the work tool via a gear mechanism. The motor is situated in a circuit including at least the motor and a switch for operating the motor. To reduce wear of the gear mechanism, a control unit for operating the motor in one of two directions of rotation is provided. The control unit independently determines a selected direction of rotation for a next operating cycle as a function of a control variable. When the motor is started, the motor is started by the control unit in the direction of rotation which is associated with a value of the control variable. The control variable changes before the motor is restarted for a following operating cycle.

  • Patent number: 9737182
Abstract: A handheld work apparatus has a blower tube with a blower arranged therein. The blower conveys a working air flow through the blower tube and has an impeller rotatably driven by an electric drive motor. A diffuser is mounted in a stationary manner in the blower tube downstream of the impeller. The motor is arranged in a motor compartment in the blower tube. Downstream of the diffuser, the work apparatus has an extraction opening for cooling air for the drive motor, via which an annular space, formed between the blower tube and the motor compartment, is connected to the motor compartment. The motor compartment has an outflow opening for cooling air arranged upstream of the extraction opening. The extraction opening and the outflow opening are arranged so that during operation the pressure at the extraction opening is greater than the pressure at the outflow opening.

  • Patent number: 9732795
Abstract: A cutting assembly of a chainsaw includes a saw chain and a guide bar (4) for guiding the saw chain (3) along a peripheral edge (5) of the guide bar. The saw chain (3) has drive links (6) having drive bases (7) which with their side surfaces (8, 8?) are slidingly guided between the side walls (9) of a guide groove (10) of the guide bar (4) with the formation of a friction pairing. Lubricant pockets (11) are formed in the side surface (8). The lubricant pockets (11) are only open toward the corresponding side wall (9) of the guide groove (10) and are otherwise closed. Offside the lubricant pockets (11), the side surface (8) has a flat sliding surface (12) which slides on the side wall (9) of the guide groove (10). The lubricant pocket (11) has a mean diameter and a maximum depth. The ratio of the mean diameter to the maximum depth lies in a range of 5.0 up to and including 25.0.

  • Patent number: 9731363
Abstract: A guide carriage for a cutting device for cutting a cylindrical workpiece. The carriage has a tool carrier for the cutting device and a tensioning member which wraps around the workpiece and is guided over a tensioning element. A tensioning device disposed on a chassis acts on the tensioning element. The tensioning device exerts a tensioning force on the tensioning member via the tensioning element. The tensioning member, a belt, is secured non-displaceably on the periphery of the workpiece. The chassis is movable in the peripheral direction of the workpiece along the belt. The belt bears a connecting element, by which the belt is closed. The connecting element is not fully traversable by the guide carriage. In order to be able to execute a full cut over the periphery, the tool carrier enables the cutting device to be mounted in a first and alternatively a second working position.

  • Patent number: 9731431
Abstract: A motor chain saw has a first driven sprocket wheel driving a saw chain lubricated via a supply pump driven by first and second drive wheel, wherein the second drive wheel is connected to the first sprocket wheel. A drive element with coupling section is connected to the first sprocket wheel and the second drive wheel is formed on the drive element. A second sprocket wheel can be used in place of the first sprocket wheel. The first and second sprocket wheels have different geometries. The coupling section has first and second followers correlated with follower surfaces of the first and second sprocket wheels. The coupling section contacts with first followers the follower surfaces of the first sprocket wheel or with second followers the follower surfaces of the second sprocket wheel when used in place of the first sprocket wheel.

  • Patent number: 9713881
Abstract: A handheld work apparatus has a guide bar having a periphery along which a chain runs. The work apparatus has a housing and a fastening arrangement for fixing the guide bar to the housing. The fastening arrangement has an actuating device which can be actuated in a fastening direction in order to fix the guide bar. The work apparatus has a tensioning device to tension the chain. The tensioning device includes a tensioning spring. When the fastening arrangement is loosened, the tensioning spring exerts a force in a tensioning direction of the chain on the guide bar. Simple operation and a simple construction are achieved if the tensioning spring is in operative connection with the actuating device and is tensioned during actuation of the actuating device in the fastening direction.

  • Patent number: 9702318
Abstract: A two-stroke engine has a cylinder with a combustion chamber formed therein. The combustion chamber is delimited by a piston. The cylinder has a base on which extends a partition plane whereat the cylinder is separated from a crankcase. The combustion chamber is, in at least one piston position, connected via at least one transfer channel to the crankcase interior. The transfer channel passes from the cylinder into the crankcase at at least one opening. A side wall of the transfer channel has, in the cylinder, a first region wherein the wall encloses an angle of 90° with the cylinder longitudinal axis. Between the first region and the opening as viewed in the cylinder circumferential direction is arranged a second wall region. The second region has a spacing, measured parallel to the cylinder longitudinal axis, to the partition plane. The spacing is greater than the spacing in the first region.
