  • Patent number: 9689126
Abstract: An assembly includes a handheld work apparatus and a support. The support has a holder worn by an operator and a connector arrangement which is held at a first attachment on the holder and on a second attachment on the work apparatus. The connector arrangement is mounted on the second attachment so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis and supports the work apparatus in a rearward direction in relation to the operator and prevents a rearward movement of the work apparatus. The center of gravity of the work apparatus and the first attachment have a spacing (a) to one another measured in a horizontal and lateral direction in relation to the operator. The holder has, at the first attachment, a bracing device for supporting the tilting moment acting on the first attachment by the weight force (F) of the work apparatus because of the lateral spacing (a).

  • Patent number: 9677678
Abstract: A venting valve for a container for liquid has a valve housing having a pressure compensation passage connecting the container interior with the container exterior. A valve member is arranged in the valve housing and controls the pressure compensation passage. An air-permeable filter body is secured within the valve housing and covers the pressure compensation passage, wherein a face of the filter body faces the container interior. A filter element covers the face of the filter body that is facing the container interior. The filter element is a securing element for the filter body. The filter element closes off an opening of the valve housing that opens into the container interior.

  • Patent number: 9664143
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has a supply channel for supplying combustion air. A throttle element is arranged in the supply channel. The engine has a starter device which enables a defined free flow cross section in the supply channel in a starting position. The starter device latches in the starting position and the latching is released by actuating an operator-controlled element. A first ramp controls the free flow cross section of the fuel port depending on the position of the throttle element. The free flow cross section of the fuel opening is controlled by a second ramp. The free flow cross section of the fuel opening, which is set using the second ramp, is greater than a flow cross section set using the first ramp for the same position of the throttle element. A favorable performance of the engine after starting thereof is achieved.

  • Patent number: 9644558
Abstract: A work apparatus has an internal combustion engine and a starter device for starting the engine. Within a housing of the work apparatus, a first electrical component is arranged at a first location and a second electrical component is arranged at a second location. A control unit is provided which is connected to the first electrical component and to the second electrical component. The control unit detects a first temperature-dependent value of the first electrical component at the first location, and a second temperature-dependent value of the second electrical component at the second location, and identifies the starting conditions as a function of these values. The first electrical component is a first actuator and the second electrical component is a second actuator or a sensor.

  • Patent number: 9636792
Abstract: A handheld work apparatus has a drive motor for driving a tool, an operating element for operating the drive motor, a first inhibiting unit and a second inhibiting unit. Each inhibiting unit has a disable state and an enable state. The operating element is inhibited for operating the drive motor when at least one of the inhibiting units is in its disable state. The work apparatus further has a locking device which locks the first inhibiting unit in its enable state if the second inhibiting unit is in its enable state. A method for operating the work apparatus provides that the first inhibiting unit is locked in its enable state when the first inhibiting unit and the second inhibiting unit are situated in their enable states at the same time.

  • Patent number: 9624993
Abstract: A hand-held work implement having a tool has a braking device for the tool that includes a brake band which wraps around a brake drum. The brake band and the brake drum undergo friction as they move relative to one another during braking. At least one of the band or drum comprises an austenitic steel, a duplex steel, super duplex steel, a nickel-base alloy or a cobalt-base alloy and has a base body and a marginal layer. The hardness of the marginal layer is approximately 150% to approximately 600% of the hardness of the base body and the carbide proportion in the marginal layer is less than approximately 0.5% by weight. A process for production of the foregoing includes diffusing carbon and/or nitrogen into a marginal layer at a temperature of less than 500° C.

  • Patent number: 9623547
Abstract: A handheld work apparatus has a motor unit comprising a drive motor. The drive motor drives a tool of the work apparatus, for example a saw chain. The apparatus has a grip unit with a handle that is vibrationally decoupled from the motor unit via an antivibration element. The antivibration element is connected to a first component of the grip unit via a holding device and a second component of the motor unit via a holding element. Arranged in the connection of the first component to the second component through the antivibration element is a predetermined breaking point formed in a third component that is replaceable independently of the first component and the second component. The strength of the connection of the first component to the second component through the antivibration element is lowest at this predetermined breaking point.

  • Patent number: 9587648
Abstract: A blower has a blower tube and a fan unit that conveys an air flow through the blower tube. The fan unit has a fan having a fan axis. The fan conveys the air flow in the direction of the fan axis. The air flow exits the blower tube in an outflow direction at a tube aperture. The handle has on its lower side a grasping point, which in the operating position of the blower, lies on a vertical axis through the blower's center of gravity. The tube aperture has a center axis that is oriented in the outflow direction. So that the forces received by the user at the handle during operation can be made smaller, it is provided for the spacing from the center axis of the tube aperture to the grasping point to be smaller than the spacing from the fan axis to the grasping point.
