Publication number: 20110002367Abstract: Repeaters, event those having digital processing, exist. The significant drawback of these digital repeaters is that the computational complexity or the processing speed has to be very high in order to guarantee, particularly when compensating for echo, that the necessary delay does not excessively impair the performance. The aim of the invention is to provide a structure of the repeater in which the computational complexity is reduced without this reduction having a negative effect on the performance during signal filtering and/or suppression of natural oscillation. To this end, the invention provides that in order to carry out bandpass filtering, adaptive pre-equalization and suppression of the natural oscillation, the components of the repeater in the uplink branch and downlink branch are arranged in a designated sequence, whereby duplex filters are used for coupling both repeater branches to the antennas.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2010Publication date: January 6, 2011Applicant: ANDREW LLCInventor: Thomas Kummetz

Publication number: 20100329311Abstract: A method for detecting an IS-95 signal without knowledge of a spreading code for the IS-95 signal is provided. A received baseband signal is rotated through a plurality of phase-shifts. For each phase-shifted baseband signal, an in-phase component or a quadrature component of the phase-shifted baseband signal is realigned. The in-phase and quadrature components are multiplied by a PN short code to partially despread the components. The partially despread in-phase and quadrature components are multiplied and integrated. The integrated despread in-phase and quadrature components are compared to a threshold value. In response to exceeding the threshold value, the received baseband signal is identified as an IS-95 signal. The method may be implemented on a repeater for repeating signals between multiple sources.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2009Publication date: December 30, 2010Applicant: ANDREW LLCInventors: Ariful Hannan, John Carlson

Patent number: 7853267Abstract: Wireless systems coverage planning uses propagation modeling to provide a prediction of service coverage. Accurate and effective wireless systems coverage analysis requires a measurement of signal strength and knowledge of the location corresponding to the measurement. Wireless signal strength, RSSI, can determined by measuring the signal received by a wireless mobile unit from the cell site antenna or can be determined by measuring the signal received by the antenna from a wireless mobile unit. The received signal strength is compared to the origination signal strength to determine path loss, RSSI. The location of a wireless mobile unit can be determined by a number of different methods. Wireless location systems can be handset-based or network-based. Examples of handset-based wireless location systems include enhanced global positioning systems; enhanced observed time difference; and estimated time of departure.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2001Date of Patent: December 14, 2010Assignee: Andrew LLCInventor: Eric Jensen

Publication number: 20100311439Abstract: A system and method for assisting the H-SLP is selecting a V-SLP using the HELD client of a SET. The SET receives identity information from an access network regarding associated LIS. The SET relays this information as well as measurements taken of the wireless network to the H-SLP. If the H-SLP does not contain enough information to determine a location estimate, the H-SLP uses the identity information from the access network to find an associated SLP that may serve as a V-SLP. A request using roaming location protocol may then be transmitted from the H-SLP to the V-SLP for location assistance.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2010Publication date: December 9, 2010Applicant: Andrew, LLCInventors: Martin Thomson, Anthony James Winterbottom, Nguyen Khiem Tran

Patent number: 7831221Abstract: An amplifier includes an RF power amplifier and a predistortion circuit coupled to the power amplifier. The predistortion circuit affects an input path of an RF input signal to the power amplifier. The predistortion circuit is operable for detecting a level of an input signal and generating a delay in the input path based on the input signal level. This enables predistortion correction of a new distortion term AM/DM, in addition to the well known AM/AM and AM/PM terms. The new AM/DM term represents the distortion that is caused by the delay modulation of the input signal as a function of the envelope power variation within the input signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2005Date of Patent: November 9, 2010Assignee: Andrew LLCInventors: Michael D. Patent number: 7830307Abstract: A method of determining one or more attributes of an antenna beam based on measuring phase and/or amplitude differences at different points in a feed network. Amplitude and/or phase are measured by a probe (13) at an input to a differential variable element (7, 8, 9) and by a probe (14) at fewer than all of the outputs of the differential variable element. By using lookup tables based on actual measurements of antenna beam attributes for phase and/or amplitude differences at different points in a feed network computation may be simplified. The method enables a relatively inexpensive control circuit to be employed while providing accurate measurement of antenna beam attributes.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2007Date of Patent: November 9, 2010Assignee: Andrew LLCInventor: Harold E.
