  • Patent number: 11665353
Abstract: Block-based, low latency rate control for an encoding system in which a wavelet transform decomposes pixel blocks into subbands stored as subbands in wavelet blocks (WBs) for encoding. Quantization parameters (QPs) for the subbands in each WB are estimated using a method that minimizes wavelet-inverse distortion given a rate bound. For each subband, a rate curve is generated based on an unquantized DCT histogram and bit count statistics for the subband, and a distortion curve is generated based on the unquantized DCT histogram and a distortion estimate for the subband that is estimated using a masked estimator. Once the rate-distortion curves for the subbands are generated, a bisection search may be used to find a point on each curve where the slope is the same for all the curves. The QPs associated with those equally sloped points are the global minimizing QPs for the wavelet block.

  • Patent number: 11664874
Abstract: Techniques for selecting the number of sounding reference signal (SRS) resources to be used by a user equipment (UE) operating in a wireless communications system are provided. The UE determines a degree of partial beam correspondence of the UE and compares the degree to a threshold amount of partial beam correspondence support of the UE. In response to the comparison, UE selects a number of sounding reference signal (SRS) resources to request from a network node and sends a SRS resource request message to the network node to request the selected number of SRS resources.

  • Patent number: 11663744
Abstract: A system comprises an encoder configured to compress attribute information and/or spatial for a point cloud and/or a decoder configured to decompress compressed attribute and/or spatial information for the point cloud. To compress the attribute and/or spatial information, the encoder is configured to convert a point cloud into an image based representation. Also, the decoder is configured to generate a decompressed point cloud based on an image based representation of a point cloud. A processing/filtering element utilizes occupancy map information and/or auxiliary patch information to determine relationships between patches in image frames and adjusts encoding/decoding and/or filtering or pre/post-processing parameters based on the determined relationships.

  • Patent number: 11664816
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to compression of pixel data using different quantization for different regions of a block of pixels being compressed. In some embodiments, compression circuitry is configured to determine, for multiple components included in pixels of the block of pixels being compressed, respective smallest and greatest component values in respective regions of the block of pixels. The compression circuitry may determine, based on the determined smallest and greatest component values, to use a first number of bits to represent delta values relative to a base value for a first component in a first region and a second, different number of bits to represent delta values relative to a base value for a second component in the first region. The compression circuitry may then quantize delta values for the first and second components of pixels in the first region of the block of pixels using the determined first and second numbers of bits.

  • Patent number: 11664880
Abstract: A wireless communication system non-collaborative, multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) space division multiple access (SDMA) system determines subscriber station combining and weighting vectors that yield a high average signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR). Each subscriber station independently transmits information to a base station that allows the base station to determine a weight vector wi for each subscriber station using the determined combining vector of the subscriber station. The ith combining vector corresponds to a right singular vector corresponding to a maximum singular value of a channel matrix between a base station and the ith subscriber station. Each subscriber station transmits signals using a weight vector vi, which corresponds to a left singular vector corresponding to a maximum singular value of a channel matrix between the ith subscriber station and the base station. The base station uses the weight vector wi to determine the signal transmitted by the ith subscriber station.

  • Patent number: 11665869
Abstract: This application relates to display devices and the layout/architecture of various internal components to enhance thermal energy management. A display device described herein may include one or more fan assemblies that drive ambient air into the display device to cool heat-generating components of the display device, and also to drive the ambient air, once heated through convectively cooling the heat-generating components, out of the display device. Further, the location of the heat-generating components is such that the heat-generating components upstream relative to the one or more fan assemblies. In this manner, the ambient air can pass over or through the heat-generating components prior to reaching the one or more fan assemblies. Additionally, heat-generating components, such as a backlit device and a power supply unit, are positioned relatively close to vent inlets in the display device. As a result, these heat-generating devices are immediately cooled with the ambient air.
