Patent number: 12245314Abstract: Systems and methods for small data transmissions (SDTs) between a user equipment (UE) and a network are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the UE determines whether to perform an SDT procedure by comparing its own mobility state to an SDT mobility state condition provided by the network. The UE may also determine whether to perform the SDT procedure by comparing the size of user plane (UP) data to be sent with the SDT procedure to an SDT mobility-based data amount threshold provided by the network. Upon entering an RRC_INACTIVE state, the UE may start a validity timer relative to any such SDT mobility state condition and/or SDT mobility-based data amount threshold, and invalidate these once the validity timer expires. In some disclosed embodiments, the UE reports its determined mobility state to the network during an SDT procedure so that the network can accordingly select configuration parameters for SDT procedures.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2021Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Fangli Xu, Dawei Zhang, Haijing Hu, Sethuraman Gurumoorthy, Srirang A. Patent number: 12242308Abstract: Computing devices, input devices, keyboard assemblies, and related systems include a set of conductive traces or leads configured to transfer a capacitive load from an appendage of a user or another capacitive load source from a remote location, such as on a keycap of the keyboard, to a conductive portion or electrode on the keyboard that is positioned near a touch-sensitive interface of a computing device. The capacitive load is thereby transferable through the conductive traces or leads to the touch-sensitive interface without having to directly apply the load, such as by touching a finger to the interface. This can reduce or eliminate the need for on-screen controls or keyboard interface elements in a touch screen device without having to use a more expensive and energy-draining wired or wireless connection between the computing device and a keyboard case or accessory for the computing device.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2022Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Adam T. Patent number: 12243124Abstract: Machine learning (ML) models are introduced for image stylization, which learn and apply multiple selectable image styles, including styles learned in an ad hoc fashion. According to some embodiments, such models may be trained on images or image pairs comprising images stylized into one or more of a plurality of predetermined styles. At inference time, a style vector representative of a particular selected style may be obtained and injected into the neural network at one or more locations to stylize an input image into the selected style. According to other embodiments, the neural network may be trained in an ad hoc fashion to learn new styles based on small sets of input images. Adversarial training (e.g., in the form of a discriminator network and/or conditional generative adversarial network (C-GAN) loss) may optionally be incorporated into the training to reduce artifacts and generate images that more closely match the selected style.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2022Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Shaona Ghosh, Milind Lingineni, Come H. Patent number: 12244820Abstract: A video encoding and decoding system that implements an adaptive transfer function method internally within the codec for signal representation. A focus dynamic range representing an effective dynamic range of the human visual system may be dynamically determined for each scene, sequence, frame, or region of input video. The video data may be cropped and quantized into the bit depth of the codec according to a transfer function for encoding within the codec. The transfer function may be the same as the transfer function of the input video data or may be a transfer function internal to the codec. The encoded video data may be decoded and expanded into the dynamic range of display(s). The adaptive transfer function method enables the codec to use fewer bits for the internal representation of the signal while still representing the entire dynamic range of the signal in output.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2022Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Alexandros Tourapis, David Singer
