  • Patent number: 10754066
Abstract: A display may have an active area in which pixels display images through a transparent display layer. An opaque masking material may be formed in an inactive border area adjacent to the active area. The opaque masking layer may include particles such as carbon black particles to provide the opaque masking layer with a dark appearance. The color of the opaque masking layer may be adjusted by incorporating additional particles such as titanium oxide particles. Particle size for the carbon black particles and the index of refraction of the opaque masking layer may be adjusted to reduce reflectance in the inactive border area. A transparent conductive layer may be supported by the transparent display layer. Index-of-refraction matching layers may be interposed between the transparent conductive layer and the transparent display layer. The opaque masking layer may be interposed between the matching layers in the inactive border area.

  • Patent number: 10754567
Abstract: In one embodiment, when a secondary application on an electronic device is selected for deactivation, the memory associated with the application can be gathered, compacted and compressed into a memory freezer file. The memory freezer file can be stored in non-volatile memory with a reduced storage footprint compared to a memory stored in a conventional swap file. When the selected application is to be reactivated, the compressed memory in the memory freezer file can be quickly restored to process memory.

  • Patent number: 10755426
Abstract: An electronic device comprises circuitry implementing a depth map enhancer. The depth map enhancer obtains an initial depth map corresponding to a scene and an image of the scene. The depth map enhancer generates a refined depth map corresponding to the scene using an optimizer, the initial depth map and the image. The refined depth map includes estimated depth indicators corresponding to at least a first depth-information region, identified based at least in part on a first criterion, of the initial depth map. Input based on the refined depth map is provided to an image processing application.

  • Patent number: 10754205
Abstract: An electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device may include an enclosure that includes a metal band and a wall. The electronic device may further include a filler compound positioned in an opening of the metal band, where a split between two sidewall components defines the opening. The filler compound provides an RF communication path through the enclosure. In order to reduce or prevent liquid ingress into the enclosure, the electronic device may include a sealing compound that infused into the opening between the filler compound and the sidewall components, thereby providing a seal. The infusion process including placing the metal band (with the filler compound) in a chamber, providing a vacuum to remove air between the metal band and the filler compound, and subsequently providing a positive pressure to force the sealing compound between the metal band and the filler compound. The sealing compound may include an adhesive.

  • Patent number: 10757653
Abstract: Mobile devices such as cellular telephones are provided that communicate with wireless networks. Cellular telephone network equipment may communicate with a cellular telephone over a data connection. The cellular telephone may have an internet protocol (IP) address that allows data to be provided to the cellular telephone over the data connection. To conserve resources and release unused IP addresses, the cellular telephone network equipment may deactivate inactive data connections after a period of inactivity. A baseband processor within a mobile device may periodically send User Datagram Protocol (UDP) keep-alive packets over the data connection to ensure that the data connection remains active. The keep-alive packets may be directed to a packet sink server or may be associated with a black hole route. An applications processor in the telephone may remain in sleep mode during keep-alive packet transmission to conserve power.

  • Publication number: 20200267630
Abstract: Passive and active scanning for extended range wireless networking. The choice between legacy and extended range signaling can depend on one or more factors. For passive scanning, an electronic device may transmit a combination of legacy beacons and extended range beacons for network discovery by receiving electronic devices. For active scanning, an electronic device may transmit extended range probe requests in addition to legacy probe requests to discover all of the access points within its transmission range. Responses to probe requests can use extended range, legacy, single user, and/or multi user protocols.

  • Publication number: 20200267552
Abstract: A controller device within a home network (or any suitable network) can be configured to manage network access tokens for various accessory devices within the home network. These network access tokens can be used by the accessory devices to access the home network without needing the network owner's network password. The network access tokens can be revocable and/or for a limited time. The controller device can generate the network access tokens, and can provide them to the accessory devices (or other user devices) as well as to an access device on the home network. Once the access device is provisioned with the accessory device's network access token, the router can control whether the accessory device is to be granted access to the home network and for how long.

  • Publication number: 20200264735
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a navigation application with a novel declutter navigation mode. In some embodiments, the navigation application has a declutter control that when selected, directs the navigation application to simplify a navigation presentation by removing or de-emphasizing non-essential items that are displayed in the navigation presentation. In some embodiments, the declutter control is a mode-selecting control that allows the navigation presentation to toggle between normal first navigation presentation and a simplified second navigation presentation, which below is also referred to as a decluttered navigation presentation. During normal mode operation, the navigation presentation of some embodiments provides (1) a representation of the navigated route, (2) representations of the roads along the navigated route, (3) representation of major and minor roads that intersect or are near the navigated route, and (4) representations of buildings and other objects in the navigated scene.

  • Publication number: 20200264006
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for spatial audio navigation that may, for example, be implemented by mobile multipurpose devices. A spatial audio navigation system provides navigational information in audio form to direct users to target locations. The system uses directionality of audio played through a binaural audio device to provide navigational cues to the user. A current location, target location, and map information may be input to pathfinding algorithms to determine a real world path between the user's current location and the target location. The system may then use directional audio played through a headset to guide the user on the path from the current location to the target location. The system may implement one or more of several different spatial audio navigation methods to direct a user when following a path using spatial audio-based cues.

  • Patent number: 10748302
Abstract: In some implementations, a first electronic device including a first image sensor uses a processor to perform a method. The method involves obtaining a first set of keyframes based on images of a physical environment captured by the first image sensor. The method generates a mapping defining relative locations of keyframes of the first set of keyframes. The method receives a keyframe corresponding to an image of the physical environment captured at a second, different electronic device and localizes the received keyframe to the mapping. The method then receives an anchor from the second electronic device that defines a position of a virtual object relative to the keyframe. The method displays a CGR environment including the virtual object at a location based on the anchor and the mapping.

  • Patent number: 10749587
Abstract: A new radio (NR) capable user equipment (UE) to determine whether to skip cellular measurements using s-Measure configuration based on measurements of a synchronization signal (SS) block (SSB) and/or Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS) using an s-Measure configuration. For example, an s-Measure configuration can include a reference signal received power (RSRP) value and an indicator whether to apply the value to an NR SS block or a CSI-RS. If the value meets or exceeds the measurement for the indicated signal measurement, the s-Measure is satisfied. For example, in an embodiment, the network configures a single s-Measure configuration (e.g., either an NR SS s-Measure configuration or a CSI-RS s-Measure configuration), which when satisfied the UE does not perform further measurements.
