Patent number: 10749923Abstract: Methods and apparatus for contextual video content adaptation are disclosed. Video content is adapted based on any number of criteria such as a target device type, viewing conditions, network conditions or various use cases, for example. A target adaptation of content may be defined for a specified video source. For example, based on receiving a request from a portable device for a live sports feed, a shortened and reduced resolution version of the live sport feed video may be defined for the portable device. The source content may be accessed and adapted (e.g., adapted temporally, spatially, etc.) and an adapted version of content generated. For example, the source content may be cropped to a particular spatial region of interest and/or reduced in length to a particular scene. The generated adaptation may be transmitted to a device in response to the request, or stored to a storage device.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2016Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Chris Y. Patent number: 10750488Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are disclosed herein. The UE may receive a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) that schedules a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in a slot, and on a component carrier (CC) of a plurality of CCs. The PDCCH may include a total downlink assignment index (DAI) and a counter DAI for hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) feedback of the PDSCH. The total DAI may indicate a total number of pairs of CCs and slots for the HARQ-ACK feedback. The UE may encode the HARQ-ACK feedback to include a bit that indicates whether the PDSCH is successfully decoded. A size of the HARQ-ACK feedback may be based on the total DAI, and a position of the bit may be based on the counter DAI.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2018Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Hong He, Debdeep Chatterjee, Gang Xiong, Hwan-Joon Kwon, Sergey Sosnin, Yongjun Kwak

Patent number: 10748969Abstract: A display may have an array of pixels. Each pixel may have a light-emitting diode such as an organic light-emitting diode or may be formed from other pixel structures such as liquid crystal display pixel structures. The pixels may emit light such as red, green, and blue light. An angle-of-view adjustment layer may overlap the array of pixels. During operation, light from the pixels passes through the angle-of-view adjustment layer to a user. The viewing angle for the user is enhanced as the angular spread of the emitted light from the pixels is enhanced by the angle-of-view adjustment layer. The angle-of-view adjustment layer may be formed from holographic structures recorded by applying laser beams to a photosensitive layer or may be formed from a metasurface that is created by patterning nanostructures on the display using printing, photolithography, or other patterning techniques.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2017Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Jean-Jacques P. Patent number: 10747428Abstract: The selective rejection of touch contacts in an edge region of a touch sensor panel is disclosed. In addition, by providing certain exceptions to the rejection of edge contacts, the functionality of the touch sensor panel can be maximized. Contacts in edge bands around the perimeter of a touch sensor panel can be ignored. However, if a contact in the edge band moves beyond a threshold distance or speed, it can be recognized as part of a gesture. To accommodate different finger sizes, the size of the edge band can be modified based on the identification of the finger or thumb. Furthermore, if contacts in the center region of a touch sensor panel track the movement of contacts in the edge band, the contacts in the edge band can be recognized as part of a gesture.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2018Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Wayne Carl Westerman
