  • Patent number: 12185067
Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to electronic devices having speakers. An electronic device may include speaker control circuitry for a speaker. The speaker control circuitry may include multiple parallel prediction blocks that share a single look-ahead delay, and that feed, in parallel, a single controller. The single controller can generate a joint modification to an audio signal based on the parallel outputs of the prediction blocks. The joint modification can then be applied to the audio signal to generate a speaker-protection audio signal that can be output by the speaker. The speaker control circuitry may also include a system modeler that models the speaker system of the electronic device based on feedback measured physical characteristics. In this way, a reduced control safety margin can be achieved by more accurate model predictors, which can allow the controller to safely drive the speaker system to its full capability.

  • Patent number: 12185616
Abstract: An electronic device may include a display and an optical sensor formed underneath the display. The display may have both a full pixel density region and a pixel removal region with a plurality of high-transmittance areas that overlap the optical sensor. To mitigate reflectance mismatch between the full pixel density region and the pixel removal region, the pixel removal region may include a transition region at one or more edges. In the transition region, one or more components may have a gradual density change between the full pixel density region and a central portion of the pixel removal region. Components that may have a changing density in the transition region include dummy thin-film transistor sub-pixels, dummy anodes, a cathode layer, and a touch sensor metal layer. The transition region may also include anodes that gradually change shape and/or size.

  • Patent number: 12182026
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to smashing atomic operations. In some embodiments, cache control circuitry caches data values in cache storage circuitry and receive multiple requests to atomically update a cached data value according to one or more arithmetic operations. The control circuitry may perform updates to a cached data value based on the multiple requests, in response to determining that the one or more arithmetic operations meet one or more criteria and store operation information that indicates a most-recent requested atomic arithmetic operation for the updated data value. The control circuitry may, in response to an event, flush, to a higher level in a memory hierarchy that includes the cache storage circuitry both: the updated data value and the operation information. This may advantageously smash atomic operations at the cache and reduce operations to the higher-level cache or memory (which may be the actual coherence point for atomic requests).

  • Patent number: 12185160
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for reducing latency in a high-propagation-delay wireless communication system. A user equipment device (UE) may transmit to abase station (BS) a first buffer status report (BSR) indicating an amount of uplink data buffered by the UE for transmission to the BS, and may subsequently transmit to the BS a first BSR update message indicating that an additional amount of uplink data has been buffered by the UE subsequent to transmission of the first BSR. The first BSR update message may be transmitted prior to expiration of a timer authorizing transmission of a second BSR following the first BSR. The UE may receive from the BS an uplink grant allocating resources for transmission of at least a portion of the uplink data buffered by the UE. The uplink grant may have a size based on the first BSR and the first BSR update message.

  • Patent number: 12181941
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for implementing a dynamic power estimation (DPE) unit that adapts weights in real-time are described. A system includes a processor, a DPE unit, and a power management unit (PMU). The DPE unit generates a power consumption estimate for the processor by multiplying a plurality of weights by a plurality of counter values, with each weight multiplied by a corresponding counter. The DPE unit calculates the sum of the products of the plurality of weights and plurality of counters. The accumulated sum is used as an estimate of the processor's power consumption. On a periodic basis, the estimate is compared to a current sense value to measure the error. If the error is greater than a threshold, then an on-chip learning algorithm dynamically adjust the weights. The PMU uses the power consumption estimates to keep the processor within a thermal envelope.

  • Patent number: 12182037
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to eviction control for cache lines that store register data. In some embodiments, memory hierarchy circuitry is configured to provide memory backing for register operand data in one or more cache circuits. Lock circuitry may control a first set of lock indicators for a set of registers for a first thread, including to assert one or more lock indicators for registers that are indicated, by decode circuitry, as being utilized by decoded instructions of the first thread. The lock circuitry may preserve register operand data in the one or more cache circuits, including to prevent eviction of a given cache line from a cache circuit based on an asserted lock indicator. The lock circuitry may clear the first set of lock indicators in response to a reset event. Disclosed techniques may advantageously retain relevant register information in the cache with limited control circuit area.

  • Patent number: 12184372
Abstract: A user equipment (UE), or other network component can operate to configure channel state information (CSI) feedback in response to receiving a CSI-reference signal (CSI-RS) according to a hierarchical precoding scheme that selectively reduces a feedback overhead associated with the CSI feedback. • Patent number: 12181930
Abstract: An accessory device with a cover and keyboard section is described. The keyboard section includes a keyboard and a touchpad, while the cover section includes multiple segments. The cover section orients the electronic device such that a user can access the electronic device, the keyboard, and the touchpad. The cover section is rotationally coupled to the keyboard section by one or more hinge assemblies (including clutches and springs), allowing the cover section and the electronic device to rotate relative to the keyboard section. The cover section includes a first and second segment rotationally coupled together. To further adjust the electronic device, the first segment remains coupled to the electronic device, allowing the first segment and the electronic device to rotate relative to the second segment. The cover section can then suspend the electronic device over the keyboard section, and the electronic device does not contact the keyboard section.

  • Patent number: 12181559
Abstract: An electronic device may include wireless circuitry having a set of two or more antennas coupled to voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) sensors. The VSWR sensors may gather VSWR measurements from radio-frequency signals transmitted using the set of antennas. The antennas may be disposed on one or more substrates and/or may be formed from conductive portions of a housing. Control circuitry may process the VSWR measurements to identify the ranges between each of the antennas in the set of antennas and an external object. The control circuitry may process the ranges to identify an angular location of the external object with respect to the device. The control circuitry may adjust subsequent communications based, adjust the direction of a signal beam produced by a phased antenna array, identify a user input, or perform any other desired operations based on the angular location.
