Abstract: On a typical motherboard the processor and memory are separated by a printed circuit data bus that traverses the motherboard. Throughput, or data transfer rate, on the data bus is much lower than the rate at which a modern processor can operate. The difference between the data bus throughput and the processor speed significantly limits the effective processing speed of the computer when the processor is required to process large amounts of data stored in the memory. The processor is forced to wait for data to be transferred to or from the memory, leaving the processor under-utilized. The delays are compounded in a distributed computing system including a number of computers operating in parallel. The present disclosure describes systems, method and apparatus that tend to alleviate delays so that memory access bottlenecks are not compounded within distributed computing systems.

Abstract: A sash lock for single- and double-hung window installations having upper and lower sashes having respective lower and upper check rails. The sash lock includes a latch for being pivotably mounted to the upper check rail of the lower sash, and a catch for being fixedly secured to the lower check rail of the upper sash. The latch includes a draw member, and the catch has a concave surface for being slidably engaged by the draw member. The concave surface is configured so that when the draw member is increasingly engaged with the catch the sash lock forces the upper and lower sashes into proper vertical alignment with one another regardless of whether upper check rail of the lower sash is initially above or below the lower check rail of the upper sash.

Abstract: A peer-to-peer (P2P) networking system is disclosed that provides a large, persistent object repository with the ability to easily scale to significant size. Data security is provided using a distributed object data access mechanism to grant access to data objects to authorized users. Data objects stored within the object repository are provided a plurality of security options including plain text data, objects, encrypted data objects, and secure, secret sharing data objects. A data object query processing component permits users to locate requested information within the P2P networking system.

Abstract: The present application relates to an implementation of a reliable transport protocol that provides receiver-based congestion control within a computing system. An exemplary system includes a first network device and a second network device within a network. During a handshake procedure, a transmission rate at which data can be sent as well as an acceptable corruptive loss rate for a data path between the first network device and the second network device in the network is determined. The second network device then receives data sent from the first network device at the transmission rate. When the acceptable corruptive loss rate for received data has been exceeded, the second network device determines an amount by which to reduce the transmission rate, and then sends a notification to the first network device indicating the amount by which to reduce the transmission rate for subsequently transmitted data.

Abstract: The present invention is a new and novel modular raised wall paneling system and method of manufacture that is economical, labor non-intensive, and can be easily constructed for a variety of room configurations and dimensions. The modular raised wall paneling system of the present invention comprises a plurality of individual panel sections having a joint there between, wherein a panel section includes a recess portion forming the appearance of a raised panel thereon. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the panel sections include along opposed longitudinal edges a tongue and a groove such that the panel sections can be disposed in parallel side-by-side mating relationship such that the tongue of one panel section is received in the groove of an adjacent panel section.
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques of dynamically assembling and utilizing a pedigree of a resource. A pedigree of a resource is a set of statements that describe a provenance of the resource. As described herein, a set of one or more servers may host context objects that contain the statements that make up the pedigree of the resource. In order to obtain the pedigree of the resource, a context assembly device may send queries to the servers for context objects that are likely to contain statements in the pedigree of the resource. After receiving context objects from the servers in response to the queries, the context assembly device may query the statements in the received context objects in order to identify, among the statements in the context objects, the statements that constitute the pedigree of the resource. The dynamically assembled pedigree may then be used in a variety of ways.

Abstract: In general, the invention provides for analyzing a target computer for computer crimes such as illegal sharing of files or sharing of illegal files on peer-to-peer clients. The target computer may have software for a plurality of peer-to-peer clients. Only one extensible forensic device may be necessary to analyze the plurality of peer-to-peer clients for downloaded or shared files. For example, the invention may provide for a method comprising determining whether one or more peer-to-peer clients are or have been installed on a target device by identifying information associated with one or more peer-to-peer modules, wherein each module is associated with a different one of the one or more peer-to-peer clients. The method further includes, gathering usage information for the one or more peer-to-peer clients that had been determined to be installed on the target computer, analyzing the usage information, and automatically generating a report of the analyzed usage information.

Abstract: The present invention is a formliner apparatus comprising a plurality of substantially planar layers. The formliner further comprises a plurality of ribs extending in a direction away from the substantially planar layers and defining a plurality of recesses within the formliner in conjunction with the substantially planar layers, each of the plurality of ribs extending to a preselected rib plane. The present invention further comprises at least one resilient ridge on each rib defining each recess, each at least one resilient ridge extending into an adjacent recess, wherein each substantially planar layer is substantially parallel with the rib plane and located a preselected variance depth distance from the rib plane, each variance depth distance for at least some of the substantially planar layers being preselected from a preselected variance depth distance range, wherein each preselected variance depth distance not being equal to every other variance depth distance.
