Abstract: In order to provide a high-performance electrophoresis chip and an electrophoresis unit having the same that can restrain the diffusion of sample at an intersection between the electrophoresis groove and the sample introduction groove and prevent decrease in contrast and decrease in resolution, an electrophoresis chip is provided with a sample introduction groove, an electrophoresis groove, and a through hole. The sample introduction groove, the electrophoresis groove, and the through hole are formed on different substrates. In the electrophoresis chip, by combining the substrates, the sample introduction groove and the electrophoresis groove are located in different planes.
Abstract: In order to provide a lancet which has a simple structure and which can secure safety, in particular, after use, and a lancet device including the same, a lancet (20) includes a casing (22), and a puncture body (23) which is accommodated in the casing (22) so as to be movable in a puncturing direction. For removing the lancet (20) from a main body (30), the lancet (20) has a convex portion (22b) formed on an inner surface (22a) of the casing (22) and a recessed portion (groove (23c)) formed on the puncture body (23), which form fitting for holding the puncture body (23) so as to be immovable in the puncturing direction in the casing (22).
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for measuring a substrate concentration by accumulating an energy resulting from a reaction between a biocatalyst and a substrate recognized by the biocatalyst to a certain level; and using a dependency of an accumulation rate on the substrate concentration as an index; and a apparatus therefor. In particular, the present invention provides a method in which the measurement of the accumulation rate is carried out by measuring a frequency of an energy release in a certain amount of time when the energy accumulated in the capacitor reaches the certain level and is then released.

Abstract: A terahertz wave characteristic measurement method comprises irradiating terahertz waves at a region in which a thickness of a solution is in the range from 10 ?m to 100 ?m such that a propagation direction of the terahertz waves is in a thickness direction of the solution, the solution containing at least one type of target material to be measured, and measuring at least one of a spectral characteristic and an intensity at a particular frequency or a particular wavelength of the terahertz waves that are one of transmitted through the region and reflected from the region.
Abstract: Disclosed is a measuring device for obtaining numerical information concerning a substance present in the interstitial subcutaneous fluid, the device being equipped with a sensor unit that outputs signals in accordance with the numerical information concerning the substance and an arithmetic unit (control unit) that receives the signals outputted from the sensor unit and arithmetically processes the signals. Abstract: The present invention provides a polymorphism detection probe that can identify a polymorphism in an EGFR gene easily and with high reliability and a polymorphism detection method using the probe. Abstract: A liquid reagent of a stabilized thyroid hormone-immobilized carrier, by which a thyroid hormone can be measured easily in a short time and at low cost, is provided. The liquid reagent of a thyroid hormone-immobilized carrier according to the present invention includes: a thyroid hormone-immobilized carrier; and a solvent, and a pH of the solvent containing the thyroid hormone-immobilized carrier is in a range from 8.7 to 11.5. The detection of a thyroid hormone using the liquid reagent of the present invention can be carried out by competitively binding a thyroid hormone in a sample and the thyroid hormone-immobilized carrier in the liquid reagent with an anti-thyroid hormone antibody and detecting a composite of the thyroid hormone-immobilized carrier and the anti-thyroid hormone antibody.

Abstract: Primer sets for amplifying two genes (the CYP2C9 gene and the VKORC1 gene) by a gene amplification method are provided, wherein the primer sets can amplify respective target regions of the two genes specifically and efficiently in the same reaction system simultaneously. Two pairs of primer sets are used including forward primers consisting of the base sequences of SEQ ID NOs: 5 and 29 as well as reverse primers consisting of the base sequences of SEQ ID NOs: 18 and 38, respectively. The use of these primer sets makes it possible to specifically amplify target regions including sites where polymorphisms to be detected are generated in the CYP2C9 gene and the VKORC1 gene, in the same reaction solution simultaneously.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a blood sugar level control system equipped with an insulin dispensing device 2 and a blood sugar measuring device 3. An attachment mechanism 4 is provided which serves to couple the insulin dispensing device 2 and said blood sugar measuring device 3 in a relatively movable manner. Preferably, the attachment mechanism 4 is constructed so that the blood sugar measuring device 3 is movable or slidable with respect to the insulin dispensing device 2. A blood sugar level control system can be provided which includes a blood sugar measuring device and an insulin dispensing device without using an adapter. Accordingly, it is possible to avoid a cost rise due to an increase in the number of parts as required. In addition, it is possible to prevent the blood sugar level control system from being unable to be used due to the loss of an adapter in the form of a different part.

Abstract: A sensor storage container is provided that allows sensors to be checked visually from the outside. A container is used for storing sensors including an oxidation-reduction enzyme that oxidizes or reduces an object to be analyzed, a mediator that mediates the transfer of electrons caused by oxidation or reduction, and a detection means that detects the oxidation or reduction reaction. The container is transparent or semi-transparent in whole or in part and thereby the sensors can be checked visually from the outside of the container. This container may be composed of a container body and a lid. The container body may be provided with a scale. Preferably, the sensors are those produced using a ruthenium metal complex as the mediator.
Abstract: A stabilized ? cryptoxanthin-containing water being capable of being utilized in food and drink is provided with low cost. The stabilized ? cryptoxanthin-containing water of the present embodiments is a stabilized ? cryptoxanthin-containing water containing: water; ? cryptoxanthin; and vitamin C, wherein the ? cryptoxanthin is stabilized by adding the vitamin C to the water containing the ? cryptoxanthin. The vitamin C has superior safety and is inexpensive, and the ? cryptoxanthin can be stabilized by the vitamin C alone without using in combination with the other stabilizing agent. Therefore, according to the present embodiments, the ? cryptoxanthin in the water can be stabilized with safety and low cost.
