Patent number: 5129427Abstract: A pulsation damper for a pumped liquid system has a housing with two axially identical hollow halves which, when joined at their flanges, form a substantially cylindrical cavity. Each housing half has a port on its longitudinal axis for fluid communication with a liquid chamber and a gas chamber defined by a flexible non-porous member. A pressurizing valve is provided, in a manual embodiment, for manually increasing or decreasing pressure in the gas chamber. An automatic pressure compensator is provided in an automatic embodiment and is so sized and configured as to be insertable and removable from the housing of the pulsation damper through the port on the end of housing. Provision is also made for modularly adding volumes of air to increase the effective gas chamber volume.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1991Date of Patent: July 14, 1992Assignee: The Aro CorporationInventors: Lawrence W. Patent number: 5124521Abstract: For improving the quality of welding operations, in a process for alternating current welding, in which during a period the actual r.m.s., welding current is measured and the phase displacement of the use of current flow during the next period of the a.c. current is regulated. Variations of the actual r.m.s. welding current during all the welding periods already performed are taken into account and compared with a desired r.m.s. current during the welding period to be performed. A welding apparatus for alternating current welding using two welding electrodes, a power supply for the same and a device for regulating the r.m.s. welding current during each a.c. voltage period has a computer for taking into account variations of the actual r.m.s. welding current during preceding welding periods of a welding operation compared with a desired r.m.s. welding current flow during the further welding periods to be performed of the particular welding operation.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1990Date of Patent: June 23, 1992Assignee: ARO S.A.Inventors: Jean-Noel Boyer, Henri Pellegrini

Patent number: 5113898Abstract: A valve assembly for fluid pressure regulation provides freedom from static pressure creep by eliminating distortions and stresses normally introduced to valve parts during assembly of the regulator. A floating valve seat permits normal installation of a valve seat housing in the regulator body with no transfer of stress or distortion to the valve seat. Thus statis pressure creep, normally attributable to micro distortions of the valve seat, is avoided. Options are also provided to install the floating valve seat directly in a regulator body without the valve seat housing.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1990Date of Patent: May 19, 1992Assignee: The Aro CorporationInventors: Lawrence W. Patent number: 5107887Abstract: A fluid pressure regulator provides features which enable an extended regulator life in high pressure service. Dual flexible diaphragms provide chemical resistance in contact with the working fluid and abrasion and fatigue resistance in contact with a backup plate and piston assembly. The backup plate has a bore which is sufficiently long and close fitting with the piston so that axial alignment is assured and there is minimal tendency for the piston to become cocked within the bore. Provision is also made for preventing fretting corrosion between the piston and the backup plate by coating at least one of the surfaces, if necessary, to assure that dissimilar metals only are in contact in that couple. Seals between the regulator housing body and the diaphragm and between the valve stem and diaphragm may be provided by resilient seal rings or by annular protrusions integrally formed on one or both of the diaphragms.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1990Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: The Aro CorporationInventors: Lawrence W. Patent number: 4982758Abstract: A diaphragm operated pressure regulator has a housing with a flow passage therethrough. The diaphragm in the housing is operatively connected to a ball valve in the flow passage for positioning the ball valve to control fluid flow through the flow passage at a predetermined pressure value. The diaphragm cooperates with the housing to define a displacement chamber. The displacement chamber is filled with fluid for backing up the diaphragm over its entire surface exposed to the displacement chamber. The diaphragm is preferably not perforated. A displacement piston cooperates with the displacement chamber to control the force applied to the diaphragm and thereby the flow through the flow passage. The displacement piston is adjustable into and out of the displacement chamber to vary the force applied to the diaphragm.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1990Date of Patent: January 8, 1991Assignee: The ARO CorporationInventor: Leo J. Patent number: 4981280Abstract: An improved solenoid actuated, fluid control valve includes a diaphragm which is fluid actuated. Inlet pressure through a restricted orifice into a chamber on one side of the diaphragm acts against the diaphragm and causes closure of the valve, when the solenoid actuated valve in the passage from the chamber to exhaust is operated. When the solenoid or pilot operated exhaust is actuated, then the chamber is depressurized and the fluid flow valve opens.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1989Date of Patent: January 1, 1991Assignee: The ARO CorporationInventor: Karl A. Patent number: 4872816Abstract: A diaphragm pump is mounted on a frame or bracket. The inlet of the diaphragm pump connects with a flexible hose or tubing having a probe designed to fit into a vehicle fluid passage such as the dip stick passage associated with the oil pan of a vehicle. The outlet to the diaphragm pump is connected to one of a pair of based hollow tube members designing part of a bracket for support of the pump. Each hollow tube has a generally S shape configuration and is connected to the other tube by cross braces. One of the hollow tubes has the dual function of acting as a support bracket for the diaphragm pump assembly and as a fluid conduit, which is connected to the diaphragm pump outlet at one end and defines a discharge passage into a container at the opposite end. The bracket assembly may thus be supported on a drum or other container by the bracket members with one of the bracket members serving as the discharge tube into the container.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1988Date of Patent: October 10, 1989Assignee: The Aro CorporationInventor: Michael Fetcko
