Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate the determination of an outdoor electronic unit (ODU)-type based upon a signal analysis. A device may perform an analysis of a signal received from an ODU, wherein the analysis identifies one or more properties of the signal, the properties including a peak frequency of the signal. The device may then compare the identified signal properties to one or more properties of one or more predetermined spectral configurations, each spectral configuration being associated with an ODU-type. The device may identify an ODU-type associated with a spectral configuration that includes at least one property overlapping a property of the analyzed signal, and the device may determine that the ODU is of the identified ODU-type. In embodiments, the device may determine whether the ODU is using a passive or active configuration.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate dynamic provisioning of subordinate service sets. An access point providing primary service(s) and subordinate service(s) may determine the bandwidth available for the subordinate service(s) based on current channel utilization. Where the bandwidth available for the subordinate service(s) is determined to be less than a predetermined threshold, the access point may modify support for the subordinate service(s). The access point may reduce the number of clients allowed to access the subordinate service(s) or may temporarily suspend offering of the subordinate service(s) to client devices.
Abstract: A fan assembly (100) includes a chassis portion (101) and a fan receiver (102) coupled to the chassis portion at a first end (105) of the fan receiver. A fan receiver sidewall defines an inner surface (401), an outer surface (402), a receiving opening (403), and a central axis (405). The inner surface can include at least one insertion guiderail key (514,614) oriented substantially parallel with the central axis. The outer surface can include a threaded male member (407) at a second end (106) of the fan receiver. A fan module (103) can nest within the fan receiver sidewall, retained therein by a vented endcap (104) that couples to the threaded male member with a threaded connection.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to generate an alert in response to a detection of an unexpected wireless device within a premises. An access device may receive a communication from a wireless device and may retrieve identification information associated with the wireless device from the communication. The access device may compare the retrieved identification information to identification information associated with one or more known devices, and if the retrieved identification information does not match the identification information associated with any of the known devices, the access device may identify the wireless device as an unexpected wireless device. The access device may output an alert providing a notification that an unexpected wireless device has been detected within an associated premises.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate the detection of a closed caption standard and corresponding extraction of closed caption data according to the detected closed caption standard. A set-top box (STB) may receive content from multiple different networks and/or service providers, and closed caption data may be formatted differently in content received from the various networks and/or service providers. The STB may identify a relevant standard with which to process closed caption data in a received content stream based upon an identification of the network and/or provider from which the content stream is received, and the STB may extract and render closed caption data using a process associated with the identified network and/or provider.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided to modify existing overlay system architectures in a cost effective manner to meet the growing demand for narrowcast services and to position the existing overlay systems for additional future modifications. The implementations of the improved overlay system of this disclosure re-digitize narrowcast analog signals after they have been QAM modulated and upconverted to RF frequencies and replace the analog narrowcast transmitters with digital narrowcast transmitters. In the fiber nodes, the received narrowcast signals are converted back to analog signals and combined with analog broadcast signals for transmission to the service groups.

Abstract: Powering an active/splitter and providing information to ONUs to cause adjustments to ONU operating wavelengths. An ONU may identify the port of a splitter to which the ONU is connected in order to make wavelength adjustments. Various techniques enable the ONU to identify from which port the ONU is receiving signals, such as a splitter that splits signals to ONUs in a cable network and signals to one or more ONUs the port to which it is connected. The splitter may lack electrical power and may perform the signal function by harvesting optical power from optical power provided to the splitter. In this manner, an active splitter may behave passively with respect to powering components in the absence of electrical power.

Abstract: Particular embodiments provide a method for delivering data in the upstream direction without the need for upstream radio frequency (RF) modulation. For example, in some embodiments, an optical network may reach to a gateway associated with a user device. The gateway may receive digital baseband data from the user device in the upstream direction. The gateway can then send the digital baseband data through the optical network without modulating the digital baseband signal via radio frequency. At the headend, because no modulation is performed in the upstream direction, there is no need for de-modulation in the headend. In one embodiment, a scheduler-based approach is used to avoid instances of optical beat interference in the upstream direction as only one upstream device that may interfere with other devices may be able to send data at one time.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media may be operable to facilitate the management of connections between one or more client devices and an access point over one or more service sets. An access point may maintain a list of client devices that have successfully associated with a private service set broadcast from the access point, and when a client device from the list attempts to connect to a public service set broadcast from the access point, the access point may deny the client device's attempt to connect to the public service set. Attempts by the client device to join the public service set may be denied for a predetermined number of attempts or a predetermined period of time. Denying an attempt to connect to a public service set may provide a client device with more opportunities to connect to a private service set broadcast from a corresponding access point.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media may be operable to facilitate anticipatory conditioning of multimedia content for delivery to one or more devices. A multimedia device may track and record correlations between each of a plurality of devices, wherein the correlations are based on the order in which one or more devices request synchronization of a piece of content following a request by a first device for synchronization of the same piece of content. The multimedia device may update device correlations with each subsequent content synchronization request. When the multimedia device receives a synchronization request for a piece of content, the multimedia device may identify a device correlated with the requesting device and may initiate a conditioning of the piece of content for delivery to the correlated device without first receiving a request for synchronization of the piece of content from the correlated device.
Abstract: A method for operating a power supply circuit of a communications device involves operating the power supply circuit in a first operating mode in which a switching frequency of the power supply circuit is higher than an operating frequency band of the communications device and switching the power supply circuit to operate in a second operating mode in response to connecting the power supply circuit to a battery by decreasing the switching frequency of the power supply circuit.
Abstract: A pivotable fan assembly includes a mounting frame, a panel, and a bracket. The panel can be coupled to the mounting frame at a first edge. The panel can pivot about the mounting frame between a first position and an angularly displaced second position. At least one fan assembly can be coupled to the bracket, which extends distally from the panel with a first pair of adjacent sides of the fan assembly bounded by the panel and the bracket and a second pair of adjacent sides of the fan assembly unbounded and exposed. When attached to a chassis cover, the panel can pivot to expose the fan assembly for tool-less replacement.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses can provide improved bandwidth and reduction in processing resources in a cable system using bonded upstream channels. Physical or environmental changes can occur in the HFC network effecting communication performance on one or more upstream channels. For optimal HFC network performance periodic measurements and adjustments are made reducing HFC network bandwidth and consume processing resources. This periodic maintenance is performed even if the communication service is not using the additional upstream bandwidth provided through upstream channel bonding. Demand-based bonded upstream channel allocation and de-allocation provides additional upstream bandwidth when required while optimizing HFC network performance and reducing processing resources through the reduction of periodic measurements and adjustments on the HFC network.
