  • Patent number: 9672722
Abstract: The methods, systems, and apparatuses described in this disclosure enable the identification of an alarm condition and the termination of a connection between an MTA and one or more telephony devices. An alarm condition can be identified at an MTA through the monitoring of feedback received from an alarm interface, and the MTA can respond to the identification of the alarm condition by terminating a connection to a telephony device for which communications are not routed through a corresponding alarm interface. An interface between the MTA and alarm interface may route communications to and from a telephony network through a first pair of wires and may receive feedback from the alarm interface through a second pair of wires.

  • Patent number: 9668007
Abstract: Techniques for synchronizing streams in an adaptive streaming environment include cross-chassis and intra-chassis synchronization of video and/or audio. In an adaptive streaming system that streams content in segments or chunks at varying levels of quality corresponding to different coding rates, implementations enable seamless switching between output streams. For example, synchronizing multiple output streams for switching between coded adaptive bit rate streams across multiple chassis involve enforcing decisions of a master encoder for inverse telecine, frame rate conversion, and segment boundary to slave encoders associated with the same group of output stream representations.

  • Patent number: 9668335
Abstract: A heat sink fastener includes a bridge, a first latch lever coupled to a first end of the bridge, and a second latch lever coupled to a second end of the bridge. The bridge defines a first fulcrum between a first force receiver and a first latch and a second fulcrum between a second force receiver and a second latch. An application force to deflect the force receivers toward each other to spring load the bridge and separate the first latch from the second latch. The bridge is then operable to unload to return the first latch and the second latch to a rest position. The first latch and the second latch engage apertures in a substrate so that springs or cantilevered spring members can bias the heat sink toward the substrate and an electronic component disposed between the heat sink and the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9661384
Abstract: A system and method for reconstructing trick play user activity are provided and include analyzing playback information of a recorded program during a playback session to identify trick play actions believed to occur during the playback session. The playback information includes a first sequence of separate video offset events associated with different points of time during the playback session at spaced intervals. For each adjacent pair of video offset events separated by one of the spaced intervals, a change of video offset is compared relative to a change of time to determine a type of trick play action occurring between the adjacent pair of video offset events. A sequence of trick play actions is reconstructed from the trick play actions identified. The method may include analyzing additional playback information and merging such information with the reconstructed sequence of trick play actions to further refine the reconstructed sequence.

  • Patent number: 9503733
Abstract: A sampling filter process is provided for scalable video coding. The process provides for re-sampling using video data obtained from an encoder or decoder process of a base layer (BL) in a multi-layer system using adaptive phase shifting to improve quality in Scalable High efficiency Video Coding (SHVC). In order to compensate for phase offsets introduced by downsampling an appropriate phase offset adjustment is made for upsampling in SHVC with an appropriate offset included for proper luma/chroma color space positions. In one approach, an adaptive filter is signaled with its phase offset adjusted to account for the luma/chroma offset.
