  • Patent number: 4597492
Abstract: The invention relates to a conveyor chain having a number of links connected by cardan joints. Each link has a main portion (2) and a fork portion (3, 4) the fork surrounding the main portion of an adjacent link. A rotatable element (6) is arranged in a bore (5) in the main portion and a pin (7) extends into each fork leg from the rotatable element. In order to improve strength and provide largest possible contact surfaces in the members possible against the pin, the pin is fixed in the element (6) and slidable in bores (9) in parts (10, 11) extending from the respective fork legs.

  • Patent number: 4596477
Abstract: A device for fastening e.g. a bearing ring on a shaft comprises a clamping sleeve and a clamping member co-operating with the sleeve. The clamping member and the sleeve contact each other over wedge-shaped surfaces. The sleeve surfaces intended for contacting the bearing ring and the clamping member have such shape that the clamping force acts essentially on that part of the sleeve which co-operates with the clamping member, and no appreciable axial displacement takes place between the sleeve and the bearing ring. Thereby the bearing ring keeps its shape and position during mounting.

  • Patent number: 4594236
Abstract: Calcium carbide is prepared from a powdered lime material. The powdered lime material, possibly together with a reducing agent, is injected with the aid of a carrier gas into a plasma gas generated by a plasma generator. The heated lime material, together with any reducing agent used and the energy-rich plasma gas, is then introduced into a reaction chamber substantially surrounded on all sides by a solid reducing agent in piece form. When the lime material consists of quicklime, this is melted and reduced to liquid carbide and when the lime material consists of powdered limestone, it is burnt directly in the reaction zone to form liquid carbide.

  • Patent number: 4591276
Abstract: A radial ball-and-socket bearing having an elastic outer ring for receiving a ball-shaped element. An annular, axially directed recess is formed in the front surface of the outer ring, and a plurality of axially directed slots extend radially therethrough from the front face. The slots and recess define sets of inner and outer tongues which flex to enable insertion of the ball-shaped element in the bore of the outer ring. At least one of the confronting surfaces of the radially adjacent inner and outer tongues is provided with one or more ribs, which are separated from the facing tongue surface by a gap when the bearing is unassembled and which are nearly or completely closed when the bearing is assembled. The circumferential surface of the outer ring has radial projections in the area of the recess for snapping the outer ring into the bore of a housing.

  • Patent number: 4584465
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are disclosed for heating process air for industrial purposes to a predetermined temperature. In one embodiment, the method comprises passing a first air-flow portion through a plasma generator and thus heating said portion to a temperature sufficiently high to cause the ionization of nitrogen and oxygen in the portion and thus form a plasma gas, immediately thereafter adding to said plasma gas a material containing carbon and/or hydrocarbon in sufficient quantity that when said material is reacted with the plasma gas, the ratio CO+H.sub.2 /CO.sub.2 +H.sub.2 O is at least 0.1 thereby substantially avoiding the formation of nitrogen oxide; and immediately thereafter mixing with the plasma gas, with its content of material containing carbon and/or hydrocarbon, a second air flow in such proportion that the predetermined temperature is achieved in the final air mixture.

  • Patent number: 4580757
Abstract: Apparatus for making a molded plastic roller with embedded bearings. The roller is formed directly on a bearing or the like by injecting plastic into a mold by way of an umbrella sprue. The tool parts are arranged so that the shearing surface, formed after shearing off of the sprue residue when the mold is opened, is located on the outer surface of the inner collar portion. The molding tool comprises two tool parts for forming the outer surfaces of the rolling body, at least one tool part having a molding portion for forming an annular recess in the roller, and a cylindrical tool part inserted in the bearing, or the like and having a mushroom-shaped head.
