  • Patent number: 4640632
Abstract: The rolling bearing of a guide roller is held in the bore of a thin wall roller adapted to guide a pulley, by projections radially inwardly extending from the thin wall roller. The projections may be in the form of beads having planar surfaces in a plane normal to the axis of the bearing on the side facing the bearing, or they may be notches having one side thereof separating from the material of the roller to be forced radially inwardly to engage the sides of the bearing. The notches may be resilient, to enable the bearing to be snapped into position.

  • Patent number: 4637806
Abstract: A swivel pin bearing for rotatably seating a swivel pin in the yoke eye of a yoke arm. The bearing includes a bushing having a base portion and a sleeve portion integrally formed with the periphery of the base portion, this sleeve portion being arranged in the yoke eye with radial seating play, and a support plate releasably secured to the yoke arm. The base portion has a planar outer surface which opposes a planar inner surface of the support plate. An element is provided for coupling the bushing to the support plate such that axial displacement of the bushing relative to the support plate is prevented. The bushing is capable of sliding radial displacement relative to the support plate which is greater than the radial seating play of the bushing in the yoke eye.

  • Patent number: 4635331
Abstract: A method for the production of a guide rail for linear guiding and having a hardened rolling body race groove on opposite sides of the guide rail. In order to minimize production costs and avoid cutting of the race grooves, the race grooves are initially spaced at a distance that is greater or smaller than their finally desired value, by an incremental distance. Grooves are provided centrally in the guide rail between the opposed race grooves, and the race rail is then hardened except in the region of the central grooves. Compression rollers in the race grooves or central grooves are then forced into the guide rail to decrease or increase respectively the distance between the race grooves until the desired distance therebetween is obtained. The method can also be employed when only a single race groove is provided on the rail.

  • Patent number: 4635573
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of destroying and vaporizing refuse, primarily household waste. The material is fed into a shaft furnace, in which the material is subjected to a vaporization and combustion process in at least three zones, said zones being produced by the supply of blast air at least at three different levels in the shaft furnace which blast gas completely or partly is supplied with controlled quantities of thermal energy by means of electricity, preferably by using at least one plasma generator. The gas produced by the process is withdrawn through an annular drum, arranged about two thirds of the way up the shaft furnace. The gas leaving can be used as combustion gas e.g. for district heating plants and steam power stations with varying thermal requirements.

Abstract: A conveyor roller has end caps forming housings for ball bearing units rotatably mounting the conveyor roller on a spindle, each housing having an end wall forming an abutment for locating the bearing in the housing, and the spindle having circlips abutting the bearing units. Each bearing unit has inboard and outboard seals mounted on the outer bearing ring, and the inboard seal is formed with projections which are compressed axially with permanent deformation between the inboard seal and the end wall of the housing, so as to function as a spacer. The projections are spaced symmetrically around the axis of the bearing unit, and each projection is symmetrical about a radial plane through the center of the projection. The projections are formed integral with the seal or consist of separate V-shaped elements mounted in slots in a side face of the seal. • Patent number: 4626113
Abstract: A cage for a radial ball bearing comprises an annular body of resilient material formed with pockets for reception of the balls as a snap fit and prongs for guiding the balls into the pockets when the annular body is fitted in the bearing from a side thereof. A retainer ring is mounted on the guide prongs to maintain the same cord distance between the prongs and thereby restrict deformation of the annular body so as to prevent ejection of the annular body under the ball-to-cage contact forces in the operation of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4624059
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and means for cooling lump material in which the material in a vertical, gas-tight cooler (1) is subjected in a furst step to a transverse cooling flow (at 9) and in a second step to counter-flow cooling (at 20). Optimal cooling effect is obtained by a distribution of the cooling gas between transverse and counter-flow cooling in such a way that maximum temperature is obtained in the cooling gas leaving through the outlet (13).

  • Patent number: 4623268
Abstract: A ball bearing has an outer ring and an inner ring with respective rolling tracks for a set of balls, the ball bearing being of the so-called "oblique" type in which the rolling tracks, in section, constitute arcs of a curve the normal to which at the mid point of the curve is inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the axis of the rings. Adjacent the rolling track on the inner ring is a groove the minimum diameter of which is less than that of the rolling track and adjacent the rolling track of the outer ring is a cylindrical surface the diameter of which is less than the maximum diameter of the rolling track. The difference in diameters between the cylindrical surface and the minimum diameter of the groove is such that half this difference is equal to the diameter of a ball.

  • Patent number: 4621700
Abstract: Wheel bearing with a built-in homokinetic coupling. The wheel bearing comprises a generally annular inner part, an outer race and two rows of rolling elements located between the outside running surfaces formed on the outer race and the inside running surfaces applied to the inner part. The outer race is equipped with a radially extending flange for the attachment of the bearing. The annular inner part is equipped with a radially extending flange to which the hub of a wheel can be attached. The inner part forms at the same time one unit with the outer ring of the homokinetic coupling. The flange of the inner part is extended with a brake element which forms the part to be braked of a braking mechanism so that the inner part of the bearing, the carrier flange for the wheel, the brake element and the outer ring of the homokinetic coupling form one homogeneous unit.
