  • Patent number: 7394897
Abstract: A method and system for routing service calls made from lines resold to a competitive service provider includes advanced intelligent network and standard switching functionality. The call may be made into an AIN service switching point (60) or a non-AIN switch (62-64). All calls are routed to an AIN hub (190), such as a service switching point, via a trunk group. The AIN or non-AIN switch may access a line class code table (160-164) to determine the proper routing information. Calls made from resold lines are routed to the AIN hub (190). Once the call is routed to the AIN hub, a trigger (187) provisioned on the AIN hub and assigned to the incoming trunk group causes the hub to suspend the call and launch a query to a service control point (200). The query includes the directory number of the resold calling line and the originally dialed number. The SCP (670) accesses a data-base (675) containing directory numbers for resold lines and identifiers for competitive service providers.

  • Patent number: 7394895
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for automatically routing a long distance call placed by a subscriber to a prepaid service provider. Six exemplary methods are discussed for allowing the prepaid subscriber to directly dial a called party's long distance telephone number, and then routing the placed call to a prepaid service. The subscriber, in each case, is not required to first dial the telephone number of the prepaid service provider before dialing the called party.

  • Patent number: 7391853
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring a call directed to a telephony network-based voice messaging service (VMS) implemented using packet-switched data network telephone conferencing resources, such as an IP-based voice-over-IP conferencing system. The systems and methods use one or more media gateway systems providing an interface between a conventional telephony domain and packet-switched data domain. When a call is to be redirected to the VMS system, the telephony network routes the call via the packet-switched data network using the media gateway. An application server in the packet-switched data network maintains registration information associated with the subscriber. If the subscriber is logged onto the packet-switched data network, the conferencing resources are used to establish a conference call between the caller, the VMS and the subscriber.

  • Patent number: 7391739
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring communications in a frame relay network are described. In an embodiment of the present invention, an analyst or automated system creates a command to instruct a network element to mirror a port to another network element in communication with the frame relay network. In one embodiment, the analyst troubleshoots a communication link between two network elements by creating two port mirror commands, transmitting the commands to the network elements, and then monitoring subsequent communications between the elements. Various analytical tools may be available to the analyst to receive data and to help diagnose problems and potential problems within the frame relay network.

  • Patent number: 7389089
Abstract: Methods for remote control of a wireless unit such as remote power-on and remote power-off. An authorized user may send a power-on communication to a remote wireless unit. The power-on communication may be sent by way of an activation system. The wireless unit may be in a sleep state or be turned-off. In response to receipt of the power-on communication or a signal from the activation system, the wireless unit powers-on and may power-on through a remote power-on function. The power-on communication or the signal that initiates the power-on may include a security mechanism necessary to power-on the wireless unit. The user may be provided with confirmation of the power-on of the wireless unit, or the user may be connected in a communication with the wireless unit. Similarly, a wireless unit that is powered-on may be remotely powered-off.

  • Patent number: 7388949
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for audibly announcing information associated with a calling party in an advanced intelligent network comprising a service switching point, a service control point and a services node. The service switching point is adapted to suspend calls directed to an audio caller identification service and to forward information concerning the calling and called parties to the service control point. The service control point is adapted to direct the call to a selected services node. The services node sends a query to retrieve information concerning the calling party from the service control point. If necessary, other service control points may be queried for the information. While the aforementioned processing is occurring, the calling party continues to hear a ringing signal. When the aforementioned information is retrieved, the service directs a second call to the called party.

  • Patent number: 7385516
Abstract: A location visit confirmation service includes a portable wireless device, a schedule of predetermined sites, a location identification system, and a central processor. The central processor periodically receives position data generated by the location identification system identifying the location of the portable wireless device. The central processor compares this position data to the schedule of predetermined sites. Using a threshold based on distance, or distance and time, it is determined whether a service person completed a visit to one of the sites in the schedule. At the end of the site visit confirmation evaluation period, a summary report is generated that confirms those scheduled site visits that were completed. The summary report is provided by the wireless carrier to the subscriber.

  • Patent number: 7386540
Abstract: An information retrieval system is described that dynamically prioritizes search request results prior to output to a user. When a database search yields multiple hits, the results are first categorized into a series of groups. Categories are determined from any number of different factors, such as geographical locations of the search results, amenities, hours of operation, etc. For each category, the search results can be parsed into groups within the category. The results are first reported to the user in general terms, as a number of search results in each of the groups. The user is prompted to select the group that is of most interest, and the portion of the individual search results that are within the selected group are reported.
