Patent number: 10420089Abstract: An adaptive two-stage downlink control channel structure is utilized for control channel transmission with code block group (CBG) retransmission for 5G and other next generation wireless systems. In an aspect, the first stage of the two-stage downlink control channel structure utilizes a defined format (e.g., having a fixed length) and provides information that is employable to determine the length and/or coding scheme of the second stage. In another aspect, the second stage of the two-stage downlink control channel structure utilizes a variable length/size to indicate the CBGs that are scheduled to be retransmitted (e.g., by employing a variable length bitmap). As an example, the length/size is varied based on a length/size of a transport block, from which the CBGs have been generated.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2017Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P.Inventors: SaiRamesh Nammi, Arunabha Ghosh

Patent number: 10419943Abstract: An overlay of millimeter wave (mmWave)-capable cells are added to a citizens broadband radio service (CBRS) network to provide coverage in a next generation fixed wireless (NGFW) network. The availability of mmWave spectrum, with limited reach, can be utilized as a wireless backhaul for subsequent hops. In one aspect, integrated access front-haul nodes (IAFHNs) that are utilized for mmWave transmissions at a second (and/or subsequent) hop can be deployed with self aligning receivers. Further, the IAFHNs can facilitate adaptive resource allocation scheduling in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) chain. In addition, an interface between macro access points can be enhanced to enable the adaptive resource allocation on the IAB chain. In one aspect, a fixed user equipment (UE) can be configured with dual connectivity (DC) and a network operator can offer different tiers of services based on a location of the UE.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2018Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P.Inventors: Tony Wah-Tung Wong, Spyridon Kapoulas, Rajeev Jayaram

Patent number: 10417035Abstract: Virtual redundancy for active-standby cloud applications is disclosed herein. A virtual machine (“VM”) placement scheduling system is disclosed herein. The system can compute, for each standby VM of a plurality of available standby VMs, a minimum required placement overlap delta to meet an entitlement assurance rate (“EAR”) threshold. The system can compute a minimum number of available VM slots for activating each standby VM to meet the EAR threshold. For each standby VM of a given application, the system can filter out any server of a plurality of servers that does not meet criteria. If a given server meets the criteria, the system can add the given server to a candidate list; sort, in descending order, the candidate list by the minimum required placement overlap delta and the number of available virtual machine slots; and select, from the candidate list of servers, a candidate server from atop the candidate list.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2017Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignees: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P., The Regents of the University of Colorado, A Body CorporateInventors: Gueyoung Jung, Kaustubh Joshi, Sangtae Ha

Patent number: 10419619Abstract: Audio processing is provided to determine whether an audio issue is present within a multi-participant communication system such as a teleconference or videoconference bridge or a trunk dispatch system. Audio issues such as background noise, background conversations, or other unwanted audio that is being interjected into the multi-participant conversation and that may be dominating the audio are detected by measuring characteristics of audio samples taken from the communication ports of the multi-participant communication system. A correction may then be applied to the audio received through the communication port by a processor of the multi-participant communication system without intervention by an administrator, such as by muting the port, applying a noise cancellation to audio from the port, or time-shifting the audio from the port.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2017Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Barrett Kreiner, Jonathan Reeves

Patent number: 10419397Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to behavior-based filters for signaling system number 7 (“SS7”) networks. According to one embodiment disclosed herein, a behavior-based SS7 filter executed by a processor can receive SS7 traffic. The behavior-based SS7 filter can determine a behavioral characteristic from the SS7 traffic and can compare a behavior of the SS7 traffic, based upon the behavior characteristic, to a behavior profile. The behavior-based SS7 filter also can determine whether the behavior of the SS7 traffic fits within a tolerance threshold of the behavior profile. If the SS7 traffic fits within the tolerance threshold, the behavior-based SS7 filter can instruct a signal transfer point (“STP”) to which the SS7 traffic is directed to allow routing of the SS7 traffic. If, however, the SS7 traffic does not fit within the tolerance threshold, the behavior-based SS7 filter can instruct the STP to deny routing of the SS7 traffic.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2018Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: AT&T Mobility II LLCInventor: Arturo Maria
