Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for receiving coded data signals in a code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system. A method of one embodiment of the invention includes, at step (100), formulating a decision function which estimates a transmitted data signal from a received noisy coded data signal. At step (102), a transmitted CDMA signal is received. The CDMA signal includes a plurality of multiplexed coded data signals from multiple users. At step (104), the CDMA signal is demultiplexed to extract and decode the coded data signals based on the decision function such that interference between the users is substantially reduced. Finally, at step (106), the receiver outputs a plurality of decoded data signals, each corresponding to a single user.

Abstract: The present invention provides a power supply for an inductive power transfer (IPT) system, comprising a current-fed push-pull resonant converter comprising a parallel-tuned resonant tank and a pair of switches enabling selective shorting of the resonant tank; and a controller adapted to control a shorting period of the resonant converter by selectively operating the switches. Methods for controlling an IPT power supply are also disclosed. The power supply may be controlled to regulate the output of an IPT pick-up inductively coupled with the power supply in use, or to operate at a zero voltage switching (ZVS) frequency.
Abstract: A multiphase IPT primary track conductor arrangement comprising a first phase conductor and a second phase conductor, the conductors being arranged substantially in a plane and so as to overlap each other and being arranged such that there is substantially balanced mutual coupling between the phase conductors.

The system may include a controller for controlling the pick-up device to shape the input current drawn from the alternating current power supply (Vin).
Abstract: The invention provides novel peptides and constructs. In addition the invention provides methods for carrying compounds across the cell membrane, for antagonizing or destroying X-protein of HBV, treatment and/or management of HBV infection, treatment and/or prevention of HCC, and degradation of a target protein.
Abstract: A laser apparatus for producing mode locked pulses includes a closed optical system adapted to connect to a fiber grain medium to form a laser cavity. The fiber gain medium is adapted to receive pulses characterized by a first state and to output pulses characterized by a second state. The closed optical system is adapted to receive the pulses in the second state and output pulses in a state similar to the first state.

Abstract: A method of generating model motion data representing the predicted motion of a physical system based on sensed motion data from one or more motion sensors within the physical system. The method generates a stream of model motion data representing the predicted motion of the physical system based on a dynamic motion model of the physical system based on initial estimates of system parameters. The method then optimizes the system parameters of the dynamic motion model based on processing of the streams of model motion data and sensed motion data from one or more motion sensors within the physical system.
Abstract: An electric power generator for generating a substantially constant frequency output from a varying mechanical speed input such as from a wind or water turbine, comprises a three-phase induction machine in which at least one stator winding is magnetically and electrically decoupled from at least one other stator winding which is arranged to be connected to an external load, and a power source is arranged to excite said at least one stator winding with an AC current at a desired output frequency. The power generator can be directly connected to the mains grid without requiring a power electronics rectifier and inverter stage to convert the generator output to constant frequency AC.
Abstract: The invention provides an electric circuit device including a conductive element configured to provide an electrical input to an electrical component, the resistivity of the conductive element being variable based at least on the extent of deformation thereof, and a deformable body coupled directly or indirectly to, or integral with, the conductive element such that deformation of the body causes the conductive element to deform, thereby varying the resistance thereof and altering the input to the electrical component. Said devices may be used singularly or in combination as logic elements within electrical circuits, providing drive and/or control functionality. Particular embodiments provide improved electrostatic generators.

Abstract: A resonant inverter includes inductive elements (L1, L2) that allow the number of magnetic components in the inverter to be reduced. The elements (L1, L2) may be designed with a leakage inductance to eliminate the need for a large DC inductor. They may also perform the function of a current splitting transformer. The inverter switches may also be driven directly from the inverter circuit without a separate controller being required.
Abstract: A gastro-electrical activity mapping system and comprises a catheter insertable through a natural orifice into the gastro-intestinal (GI) tract and comprising an array of electrodes for contacting an interior surface of a section of the GI tract to detect electrical potentials at multiple electrodes, and a signal analysis and mapping system arranged to receive and process electrical signals from multiple electrodes of the array and spatially map GI smooth muscle electrical activity as an activation time map, a velocity map, or an amplitude map, which may be in the form of contour plots and may be mapped on an anatomical computer model of at least the section of the GI tract and may be animated. A GI mapping method and catheter are also claimed.
