Abstract: A system includes a transducer array configured to produce a signal indicative of a received echo wave, receive circuitry configured to amplify and digitize the signal, sub-systems configured to process the digitized signal to generate an image including electronic noise from the system, and a system controller. The system controller is configured to retrieve a pre-determined noise level of an analog front end of the receive circuitry, configure the sub-systems, wherein each of sub-systems includes multiple processing blocks, and the configuring determines which of the processing blocks are employed and which of the processing blocks are bypassed for a scan, and determine a noise level for each of the employed sub-systems based on a corresponding noise model. The sub-systems include a processor configured to adaptively vary at least one of a gain and a dynamic range of the image as a function of depth based on the noise levels.

Abstract: In an embodiment of the disclosed principles, a strap down integration (SDI) system includes a gyroscope that provides gyroscope data samples and an accelerometer that provides accelerometer data samples. A timing capture module associates a timestamp in a common time-base to data samples, and an SDI module linked to the timing capture module processes the timestamped data samples to produce orientation and velocity increments. In an embodiment, the SDI system also includes a priority buffer for storing the data stream produced by the timing capture module prior to provision of the data stream to the SDI module. The SDI module may output SDI motion increments at a time specified in an output request via an output request sample placed in the incoming data stream and having a timestamp in the common time-base.

Abstract: A pipe joining system and pipe joint are shown in which two sections of plastic pipe, particularly molecularly oriented pipe, are joined. A ring-shaped elastomeric body is installed within a mating groove provided in a mouth region of female pipe section. The ring-shaped body is formed of an injection molded elastomeric material which is joined to a series of arcuate gripping segments which have teeth on an inner surface thereof which are designed to engage an outer surface of a mating male pipe section to restrain movement of the male pipe after assembly of a pipe joint. The gripping segments are separated by a gap which is open prior to assembly, but which closes during assembly.
