Abstract: A cable 1 comprises a first thimble 2 and a second thimble 4, at least one yarn 6, and at least a first conductive fiber 8 for monitoring the cable 1. The yarn 6 extends from the first thimble 2 to the second thimble 4, turns around the second thimble 4, extends from the second thimble 4 to the first thimble 2, and turns around the first thimble 2. Each thimble holds a stack 9 of layers 10 of turns of the yarn 6. The first conductive fiber 8 is designed to signal the wear of the yarn 6 by breaking after a predetermined portion of the turns of the yarn 6 breaks. The first conductive fiber 8 is positioned at the first thimble 2 between the turns of the yarn 6 at less than 50% of the stack height h.
Abstract: A loudspeaker drive circuit uses a dynamic range compressor to implement a non-linear gain function between the input signal to the dynamic range compressor and an output signal from the dynamic range compressor. The output is used to drive a loudspeaker, and the operating parameters of the dynamic range compressor are varied in dependence on a criterion, such as the estimated voice coil temperature, the power consumption or the acoustical distortion.
Abstract: A method of forming a layer on a substrate is provided by providing the substrate with a hardmask material. The hardmask material is infiltrated with infiltration material during N infiltration cycles by: a) providing a first precursor to the hardmask material on the substrate in the reaction chamber for a first period T1; b) removing a portion of the first precursor for a second period T2; and, c) providing a second precursor to the hardmask material on the substrate for a third period T3, allowing the first and second precursor to react with each other forming the infiltration material.

Abstract: A device to cancel noise in broadcast signal is disclosed. The device a first port to connect to a main antenna, a second port to connect to a noise antenna, a processor coupled to the first port and the second port to measure the broadcast signal received at the first port and a noise signal received at the second port to derive a first set of coefficients, a first adaptive filter coupled to the first port and the processor and a second adaptive filter coupled to the second port and the processor. The first adaptive filter and the second adaptive filters are configurable based on the first set of coefficients to remove the high energy parts of a frequency spectrum of signals received at the first port and the second ports respectively.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for implementing platform security on a consumer electronic device having an open development platform. Abstract: In a sleep posture alerting method or an apparatus therefor, the sleep posture of a person is detected and the person is automatically alerted by an alerting device when the sleep posture is out of a predetermined body posture range. The detection of the sleep posture or at least the alerting of the person, when his/her body posture is out of the predefined body posture range, is deactivated during a sleep-in time period. The apparatus includes a sleep detecting sensor connected to the control unit for detecting whether the person is in a state of sleep. When it is detected that the person is in a state of sleep, the sleep-in timer is ignored and the detection of the sleep posture or the alerting of the person is activated such that, in the event that his/her body posture is out of the predefined body posture range, the person will be alerted.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a stator for an eccentric screw motor where at least two milling heads are used for machining the inner wall of the stator tube, wherein, at the start of the machining, one of the milling heads is brought to a predetermined position near the stator with respect to the end of the stator tube, the milling head is fed into the tube interior along its linear axis from this predetermined position, and a thread is machined until the milling head reaches at least the longitudinal center of the stator tube or exceeds a predetermined value, and the second milling head starts its machining of the inner wall surface of the stator tube at this point, wherein the milling head is moved along its linear axis and rotated about its rotary axis until the milling head reaches the centre of the stator tube.
