Abstract: An optical arrangement, e.g. a projection exposure apparatus (1) for EUV lithography, includes: a housing (2) enclosing an interior space (15); at least one, preferably reflective optical element (4-10, 12, 14.1-14.6) arranged in the housing (2); at least one vacuum generating unit (3) for the interior space (15) of the housing (2); and at least one vacuum housing (18, 18.1-18.10) arranged in the interior space (15) and enclosing at least the optical surface (17, 17.1, 17.2) of the optical element (4-10, 12, 14.1-14.5). A contamination reduction unit is associated with the vacuum housing (18.1-18.10) and reduces the partial pressure of contaminating substances, in particular of water and/or hydrocarbons, at least in close proximity to the optical surface (17, 17.1, 17.2) in relation to the partial pressure of the contaminating substances in the interior space (15).

Abstract: A method for decoding decodable indicia includes sensing the polarization of light from a plurality of orientations in connection with the decodable indicia, and controlling at least one of energizing an illumination subsystem based on the sensed polarization indicating a generally randomly polarized light, and inhibiting energization of the illumination subsystem based on the sensed polarization indicating a generally linearly polarized light. One or more images are captured, and an attempt is made to decode the decodable indicia using at least one of the one or more images.

Abstract: A speed profile dictionary and associated lookup tables are disclosed. A set of distinct speed profiles is defined using a statistical analysis routine. Preferably, the statistical analysis routine uses clustering. The speed profiles are then matched to location codes identifying physical locations on a road network and days of the week. Applications using historic traffic data may use the speed profile dictionary and one or more lookup tables instead of a complete historic traffic database, thereby reducing the amount of memory needed to store historic traffic data.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are provided for implementing spin-torque oscillator sensing with an enhanced integrated demodulator for hard disk drives. The demodulator receives an input signal from a STO read sensor having an oscillation frequency ? related to the strength of the detected magnetic signal field. The demodulator includes a pair of mixers coupled to a quadrature reference oscillator with respective quadrature components cos(?0t), and sin(?0t) of the quadrature reference oscillator being mixed with a received input signal to form signals at the sum and difference frequencies, ?±?0. Each of these mixer products is lowpass filtered by a respective a lowpass filter to remove the sum frequency components for providing a demodulator output signal that is directly proportional the STO oscillation frequency ?. The demodulator output signal is used for processing by data detection electronics.

Abstract: Disclosed is a device manufacturing method, and accompanying inspection and lithographic apparatuses. The method comprises measuring on the substrate a property such as asymmetry of a first overlay marker and measuring on the substrate a property such as asymmetry of an alignment marker. In both cases the asymmetry is determined. The position of the alignment marker on the substrate is then determined using an alignment system and the asymmetry information of the alignment marker and the substrate aligned using this measured position. A second overlay marker is then printed on the substrate; and a lateral overlay measured on the substrate of the second overlay marker with respect to the first overlay marker using the determined asymmetry information of the first overlay marker.

Abstract: A wheel axle suspension adapted to suspend an axle body of a wheel axle from a vehicle chassis comprises on both sides of the vehicle a bearing bracket arranged on the vehicle chassis. A rigid or flexible trailing arm extends in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The trailing arm has a resilient bush at a front end by means of which the trailing arm is hingedly connected to said bearing bracket. The trailing arm furthermore has a contact region essentially complementary to a portion of the outer contour of the axle body, where the axle body, in a fitted position, bears directly against. A support part opposes said contact region of the axle body. The support part is provided with a recess for accommodating the axle body, and is provided with a securing arm extending further towards the rear which is adapted to be secured to a pneumatic spring. Tensioning elements are provided tensioning the support part and the contact region of the trailing arm towards each other against the axle body.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed comprising: a sample conduit; an electrochemical flow cell; a source of carrier fluid; a structure elucidation spectrometer; a conduit and an in-line sample reservoir, such that: (a) a first operating modus wherein the sample conduit is connected to the conduit via the electrochemical flow cell and the in-line sample reservoir, and the source of carrier fluid is connected to the by-passing the in-line sample reservoir, and (b) a second operating modus wherein the sample conduit is connected to the conduit by-passing the in-line sample reservoir, and the source of carrier fluid is connected to the structure elucidation spectrometer via the in-line sample reservoir. Decoupling of the electrochemical cell from the spectrometer allows for uncompromised selection of optimal electrochemical and separation conditions.

The system further comprises a system controller that comprises: a) an attendant control panel serving as a user interface; and b) a system controller interface that is connected to the module group controller interface.

Abstract: A transmission electron microscope includes an electron beam source to generate an electron beam. Beam optics are provided to converge the electron beam. An aberration corrector corrects the electron beam for at least a spherical aberration. A specimen holder is provided to hold a specimen in the path of the electron beam. A detector is used to detect the electron beam transmitted through the specimen. The transmission electron microscope may operate in an incoherent mode and may be used to locate a sequence of objects on a molecule.

Abstract: Embodiments of the inventive technology relate generally to item support apparatus. Although a focus of the inventive technology may, in some embodiments, be on support of musical related items such as a microphone, the scope of the inventive technology and its applicability is not necessarily limited as such. In various embodiments of the telescoping tube position lock apparatus, certain inventive technology provides enhanced functionality (e.g., stand adjustability), enhanced performance and/or improved ease of control.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to the determination of the colour of a colour sample from an image of the colour sample. In one embodiment a colour sample capture card is provided having printed thereon colour samples of known colour (for example, XYZ tri-stimulus values). An image of the test colour sample is then captured using domestically available equipment, such as a consumer digital camera or camera-equipped mobile telephone, the image also containing the colour sample capture card. In one embodiment the image is then transmitted to a remote colour determination service for colour sample colour determination. Regression analysis is then performed using the RGB colour samples in the image and known XYZ colours thereof to characterise the colour capture response of the image capture device. Having characterised the image capture device the XYZ colour of the unknown colour sample can be determined from the RGB colour thereof in the image.

Abstract: A media store server provides customers' digital information devices with a catalog of multimedia content available from servers of multiple vendors. To provide a unified catalog for the store, the multimedia contents are grouped according to descriptive texts. A descriptive text for a multimedia content item or file is obtained from a vendor's catalog, and the descriptive text is standardized to generate a token for that particular multimedia content item. The multimedia content is classified in an existing catalog group corresponding to an already existent token, if the generated token matches an existent token in the catalog of the media store server. A new group for multimedia content is generated and the particular multimedia content is assigned to the new group, if the generated token does not yet exist in the catalog of the multimedia store server.
