  • Patent number: 8395757
Abstract: Disclosed concepts include a method of optimizing polarization of an illumination of a pattern to be formed in a surface of a substrate. Polarized illumination is optimized by determining an illumination intensity for at least one point on an illuminator for at least two polarization states, determining image log slope for the at least one point on the illuminator for the at least two polarization states, determining a maximum image log slope (ILS) where the ILS is near zero for the at least one point on the illuminator, and selecting an optimal polarization state corresponding to the at least two polarization states that minimizes an ILS for the at least one point on the illuminator. This may be repeated for a plurality of points on the illuminator.

  • Patent number: 8396179
Abstract: Disclosed is a frame synchronizing device and method for a binary data transmission system wherein digital data are transmitted as a serial bit stream organized into frames, each frame including a pre-defined frameheader, wherein said serial bit stream is inputted into a serial input portion of a serial input parallel output shift register means having at least as many stages as the number of bits of a frame, and said frames are outputted in a consecutive order from a parallel output portion of said shift register means. The particularity of the present invention is that it is detected whether or not a frameheader is present in the output of said parallel output portion, and, if not, the outputting of a frame from said parallel output portion is delayed by at least one time period which is needed for shifting a bit in said serial input portion from a stage to a next one, until synchronization is reached.

Abstract: The present invention proposes an electronic memory device comprising a memory line including a memory domain. The memory line may contain a number of memory domains and a number of fixed domains, wherein each memory domain stores a single binary bit value. A multiferroic element may be disposed proximate to each memory domain allowing the magnetization of the memory domain to be changed using a spin torque current, and ensuring the stability of the magnetization of the domain when it is not being written. The domain boundary between the memory domain and one of its adjacent fixed domains may thereby be moved. An antiferromagnetic element may be disposed proximate to each fixed domain to ensure the stability of the magnetization of these. The value of each memory domain may be read by applying a voltage to a magnetic tunnel junction comprising the memory domain and measuring the current flowing through it.

Abstract: A touch fastener product has a base strip of resin carrying both mechanical fastener projections and adhesive, in some cases disposed on raised portions of the base strip. The fastener projections are arranged in discrete fields with lanes between the fields, and the adhesive is disposed within the lanes. The adhesive in each lane is shorter, as measured perpendicularly from the base strip, than the projections nearest the lane, by a distance that is less than ten percent of the width of the lane. In some cases molded stems extend through the adhesive in the lanes. The fastening face of the molded base strip is treated to give the fastening face a higher surface energy than the back face, to resist adhesive delamination during unspooling.

  • Publication number: 20130057983
Abstract: A magnetic write head for magnetic data recording that incorporates a novel magnetic oscillation generator stricture that sets up a magnetic oscillation in the magnetic media for improving writing and that also narrows the write width and reduces adjacent track interference by suppressing writing in regions outside of the desired data track. The magnetic oscillation generating structure includes a centrally disposed magnetic assist element that generates an oscillating magnetic field that oscillates in a direction that will assist the write pole in writing to the magnetic medium. The magnetic oscillation generating structure also includes first and second magnetic non-assist elements at either side of the assist element. The non-assist elements generate a magnetic field that oscillates in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction, which counteracts the magnetic write assist from the centrally disposed magnetic assist element and acts to suppress writing in these side regions.
