Abstract: A belt drive system including an assembly of a heavy-duty drive V-belt 5 and pulleys 2 and 4 reduces noise generating owing to belt travel while ensuring the durability of the pulleys 2 and 4. The surfaces of belt grooves 6 in the V-pulleys 2 and 4 are micro-blasted or burnished so that their surface roughness satisfies the relational expression y??0.9×tp+100, where tp is the load length rate at a given position of a roughness curve indicating the surface features of the groove surfaces in the V-pulleys 2 and 4 and y is the variable (the degree of height) indicating by percentage the ratio of the height from the lowest valley having a maximum depth to the given position to a maximum height Ry.

  • Publication number: 20090029818
Abstract: There is provided a flat transmission belt that suppresses occurrence of cracks in the belt surfaces to extend the life of cover rubber layers and hence the life of the belt as a whole. A flat transmission belt of the present invention has a first cover rubber layer and a second cover rubber layer formed on a side of the belt opposite to the side on which the first cover rubber layer is formed, and is wound between driving and driven pulleys when in use. The first cover rubber layer and the second cover rubber layer are respectively formed of rubber materials that are of the same kind but differ in mixing ratio of the components thereof, and the first cover rubber layer, which contacts a smaller number of the driving and driven pulleys, has an extension ratio higher than the extension ratio of the second cover rubber layer, which contacts a larger number of the driving and driven pulleys.

  • Patent number: 7419448
Abstract: A hollow cylindrical pulley body 5 is carried rotatably by a hollow cylindrical shaft member 11. A support rod 8 is inserted in the shaft member 11 to support the shaft member 11 for rocking motion about a pivot axis C2 orthogonal to the shaft member 11. The pivot axis C2 is inclined backward in the direction of belt travel with respect to the direction of load on the shaft member 11. With this configuration, when the drive belt 3 deviates to one side, the pulley body 5 is immediately angularly moved so that it is inclined with a level difference with respect to the direction of load on the shaft member 11 and is positioned obliquely relative to the drive belt 3, thereby producing a force of returning the drive belt 3 to its normal position.

Abstract: A hollow cylindrical pulley body 5 is carried rotatably by a hollow cylindrical shaft member 11. A support rod 8 is inserted in the shaft member 11, and the shaft member 11 is elastically supported to the support rod 8 through an elastic body 10. The elastic body 10 is provided within a quarter of the periphery of the support rod 8 that is located, when viewed along the axis of the shaft member 11, forward of the line of action of a radial shaft load on the shaft member 11 with respect to the direction of rotation of the pulley body 5. With this configuration, when the drive belt 3 deviates to one side, the pulley body 5 is immediately angularly moved so that it is inclined with a level difference with respect to the direction of the radial shaft load and is positioned obliquely relative to the drive belt 3. In this manner, a force of compensating for the deviation of the drive belt 3 is produced to avoid its wobbling.

  • Publication number: 20080064549
Abstract: In a method for estimating an entrance angle of a V-ribbed belt from a flat pulley to a V-ribbed pulley, the entrance angle is estimated easily at a stage of pulley layout design. The V-ribbed belt 10 forms a track which enters at an entrance angle of approximately zero degree (substantially perpendicular to a plane that includes an axis 3a of rotation) into the flat pulley 3, is wound along the outer peripheral face of the flat pulley 3 without deviating in the axial direction thereof, and extends substantially linearly from a winding end point c at the flat pulley 3 to a winding start point d at a drive pulley 1. The entrance angle ? of the V-ribbed belt 10 from the flat pulley 3 to the drive pulley 1 is obtained on the basis of the track of the V-ribbed belt by, for example, a three-dimensional CAD or the like.

  • Patent number: 7252610
Abstract: In a belt drive system 20 for transmitting torque at a crankshaft 11 of an automotive engine 10 to a supercharger (engine accessory) 130a, an output pulley unit 40 formed of a first flat pulley 50 and a second flat pulley 60 is coupled to the rotational shaft 131a of the supercharger 130a. A flat belt 70 entrained between the output pulley unit 40 and the crank pulley 30 of the crankshaft 11 is shifted from the first flat pulley 50 to the second flat pulley 60 or vice versa by a speed ratio selector 80. The rotational shaft 131a can thereby be driven into rotation with the switching between a high speed ratio during acceleration and a low speed ratio during constant speed cruise. As a result, the supercharger 130a can bring out its capability into full play without using parts involving increases in weight, cost and power consumption, such as a solenoid-operated clutch, and concurrently suppress the deterioration of fuel economy.
