Abstract: A process for thermoplastic processing and sintering an unplastifiable polymer comprises dispersing the unplastifiable polymer in powder form in a melt of a polyacetal or a mixture of polyacetals, cooling the resulting mixture, granulating it, forwarding the granules to a thermoplastic processing stage, injection or extrusion molding, exposing the molding to an atmosphere which contains an acidic gas, thereby de-polymerizing the polyacetal, enveloping the remaining porous molding on all sides in a gas/liquid-impermeable film, heating in an autoclave, and isostatically sintering the molding with pressure from all sides to form the finished article.
Abstract: A process for preparing melt spun polymeric fiber made from polymerized amide monomers includes the steps of pigmenting the polymer, incorporating within the polymer sufficient SO.sub.3 H groups or salts thereof to give the polymer a sulphur content of between about 10 and about 160 equivalents per 10.sup.6 grams polymer and thereafter chemically blocking with a chemical blocking agent a portion of amino end groups present in the sulphonated polymer.

Abstract: A refrigerator cabinet is provided with a plastic liner, the inside wall of the refrigerator, which is resistant to chemical degradation by fluorocarbons. Freon and Freon substitutes used as blowing agents for foaming the insulation contained between an outer metal cabinet and on the inside wall of the refrigerator can cause blistering, cracking, and sometimes dissolution of materials used to form the plastic liner which is the inside wall of the refrigerator. There is provided a plastic liner which is resistant to those blowing agents and particularly to those blowing agents which are partially halogenated and tend to be more aggressive than Freon. The plastic liner wall maintains impact strength and toughness after exposure to fluorohydrocarbons conventionally employed in refrigerator units for in situ polyurethane foam production.
