Abstract: In a sheet-like, multilayer, magneto-optical recording material which has a base which is transparent to light, a thermally alterable recording layer of an amorphous lanthanide transition metal alloy and, on the base remote side of this recording layer, an anticorrosion layer containing carbides, nitrides and/or oxides, the anticorrosion layer(a) is from 30 to 250 nm thick and(b) consists of two or more components which(c) are present in four or more separate strata, each consisting of one of the components,(d) one or more of the components being selected from the group consisting of the elements boron, aluminum, silicon, titanium, zirconium, hafnium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, chromium, molybdenum and tungsten and(e) one or more of the other components being selected from the group consisting of the carbides, nitrides and oxides of these elements (d) and(f) directly adjacent strata always consisting of components which differ from one another.
Abstract: Novel Oxo-ionol derivatives are described which have a but-1-en-3-ol carbonate side chain. These derivatives are stable tobacco enhancers which impart a slight hay-like flavor to tobacco smoke.

Abstract: Hydroxycarboxylic esters of the general formula ##STR1## where n is an integer from 0 to 10, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkoxy or an aliphatic or olefinic, straight-chain, branched or cyclic hydrocarbon radical, and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together may furthermore form an alkylene radical, and the hydrocarbon radicals may furthermore be substituted by halogen, hydroxyl, epoxy or nitrile, and R.sup.3 is a low molecular weight alkyl radical, are prepared by electrochemical oxidation of a hydroxyaldehyde of the general formula ##STR2## in the presence of an alcohol of the formula R.sup.3 OH and of an ionic bromide or chloride in an undivided electrolysis cell.
Abstract: Cyclohexanol is removed from aqueous solutions containing it and aromatic sulfonic acids by extraction with one or more cyclohexyl ethers liquid under extraction conditions and having the formula ##STR1## where R is alkyl of from 1 to 16 catbon atoms, cycloalkyl of from 5 to 8 carbon atoms, aralkyl of from 7 to 10 carbon atoms or phenyl, which may additionally have substituents which are inert under reaction conditions.
Abstract: Thermoplastic molding materials containing, as essential components,(A) 5-95% by weight of a partially aromatic copolyamide essentially composed of(A.sub.1) 20-90% by weight of units derived from terephthalic acid and hexamethylenediamine(A.sub.2) 0-50% by weight of units derived from .epsilon.-caprolactam and(A.sub.3) 0-80% by weight of units derived from adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine,(B) 5-95% by weight of a polyphenylene ether,(C) 0-45% by weight of a vinylaromatic polymer and(D) 0-40% by weight of a rubber impact-modifier, are prepared.
